Like the pants, not sure if it's a trick of the light or you purposefully doing it(can't read everything right now to see), but the lower part looks like it's slightly darker, like the fabric is wet from running through puddles .

It was me trying to be subtle and blend the clothes from really light blue at the arms down to dark blue at the hem, can't really tell at all with the sleeves and it only kind of works from the back, it's a lot less effective from the front which will probably be the primary viewing angle. Still glad I tried it, gonna keep working on stuff as I go.

I won't go back and fix it, I like it somewhat, and I'll just try to do better next time. Going back and correcting stuff is what leads to hang ups and gives me too much time to lose my resolve and end up accidentally shelving projects.

Forward, for Great Justice!

I found that one in a Ross Dress for Less. I tend to hang on to packaging but my wife tends to throw it away quickly, so I don't think I can get you the brand name unfortunately. If I see another one i'll let you know what to look for. It was maybe six bucks which in equivalent sized plastic terms isn't too bad at all for what it may one day become. I mean it's like two rhinos so equivalent hobby value may be over fifty bucks right so it was a steal, right?

I dunno about the cockpit, it probably does need to look more high-tech, just not sure my skills are up to the task. Would make it just that much cooler if it were totally scratchbuilt though.

What about the front-end off a Hind? It certainly fits the bubbly-domey look.

^Huh. I may have to see if they've got any 1/48 Hinds at hobby lobby, could totally see getting one at 40% off Could use the rest for my tank graveyard board (still planning on doing it eventually).

It's interesting, the Hind looks almost just like the Valkyrie except the angles are a bit smoother and there's glass that bubbles out instead of flat panes. I guess that's what it takes to help the space/future look though, huh?

So still chugging away on that diorama, mushashi is getting closer, oniwaban is sealed, the terrain is probably ready to be painted and I know what I'm planning to do for that. Just gotta get some productive time lined up.

Then I'm thinking..
*Giant Stompy Robot
*n marauders where n=as many as I can stand before moving on
*Helga and 3 Bakunin Nomads since they're already primed.
*More Mars Attacks!
*Maybe Icestorm gets started...

And all Infinity things are subject to being done singly and interspersed with simpler models from other lines for sanity and quality's sake

Plus I may just change my mind at any time

This winter, depending on what kind of time I have and or job I end up with... I still want to finish at least one of: 2x2' tank graveyard board, 2x2' desert outpost board;
And then try to do all of: Mars Attacks main game box, strike team for all 8 deadzone factions (meaning all 6 DZ factions, and maybe painting a few extra mars attacks models to round out their teams), and of course before winter is over I'll have gotten Bones2 as well as my hard plastic deadzone stuff and even some of DBX probably.

We'll just see what of that I can do, but it's an outline right?

Sounds like you shoud have plenty to keep you busy! My vote goes to either the GSR or some Nomads.

I usually go with the plan of painting "whatever I darn well feel like at the time", probably why I have so much unpainted

I could see the hind cockpits on that dropship.

Well. I'm not gonna slave myself to the list. The list itself is really a kind of 'whatever the hell i want' so it'll be subject to change... I've just kind of put things in the priority of what I want to paint first and such

Like these bad boys. I swear, they are a godsend for those small details.

They should help with the black outlining.

How do you get those to seal? I tried using them once on a dreadnought scroll (this guy) and then using varnish, but it just lifted the ink up, so I had to clean the scroll off, repaint, and then use a brush to write the script instead.

I want to see your Tank graveyard start up. My own has lagged out completely at this stage. I haven't done any hobby stuff at all for that matter in about 5 weeks now, aside from finishing the heads on 4 figures. Inspire me!

The flowers on that guy look fine. They're supposed to be impressions of flowers rather than "realistic" flowers anyway, and they do give that impression (or maybe of stars as well) Plus Infinity figures are so fine anyway that in actual size it'll look a lot nicer than blown up to 500%.

For the pens... Just give them a good while to dry. I've not had that problem, I just use rattle-can spray sealers, Krylon makes a clear coat that I'm coming to swear by for it's lack of frosting up and suave <5 price tag.

I got a 2 dollar marker pen that said it was something like 0.05 mm or something but I'm preeeety sure it's not drawing lines 1/4 as thick as my old micron, probably pseudofaux advertising.

Thanks for the kind words about the flowers, I like them from a respectable distance, I just wish the ones on the front were on par with those on the back.

I'm currently torn between the tank graveyard and the desert base board. I'm not sure I have the technique down for the desert board's buildings yet though... and mauling/weathering tanks is just plain fun. Plus if I sabotage all of my space marine vehicles, well then there's much less drive to want to do anything with those so that may be a plus

Speaking of... things... I looked for a Hind at hobby lobby but all they had were apache's and other older helicopters that just didn't 'fit the bill. And some of the jets were high-tech but they weren't the right shape either. I did spot a 1/48th scale b-29 superfortress and 50 bucks hit with a 40% off coupon is a 30 dollar kit that promises to adequately cover a 2x2' board pretty much all by itself. Other than possibly Mars Attacks! though, I'm not sure what excuse I could use for deadzone or Infinity models fighting over such a thing. Does kind of make me want to look around and see if any of the good space/scifi shows put out any 1/48 or so space ships that I could destroy to make a board

I need to source some affordable 1x1' or 12"x12" boards (I'm not picky ) that are nice and uniform. I want to do either board in 1-foot square sections, so obviously 4 per board, so you can have a default set-up, and then readily rotate tiles to create variety. Plus it would allow a 5th tiles to be made for further variety if I got bored some time :p I think I'd be ok with something fairly thin, I was originally thinking of using insulation board of the 1" variety but if I found some relatively affordable and uniform bits of nice plywood or other board of the appropriate size, I'd probably use those instead to save me botching the cuts.

I second Para for the GSR, I am very interested to see where you take that one. But also Icestorm must be staring you in the face as well. But I totally get wanting to do other miniatures between single Infinity models, they just look so detailed and true 28-30mm in scale.

Well then you're in luck

Decided to get out the airbrush today during my daughter's nap. I've been wanting to try some T-shirt designs to see if it would be feasible to make some personalized shirts for friends/family for the holidays. I had extra air and decided to get the big stompy robot and a saucer primed just because. I should have done the diorama scenery, but I've still got to add the back side (just a flat piece, probably stick the title and date etc back there).

I'm taking a snack break now... I may go back and hit the big stompy with some white and then work on something vaguely OSL-ish for a couple of the details, the heat ray, maybe the freeze ray, there's a big thing on the chest that's just asking to be glowy too.

I also think the master chief head is a proof of concept that I can find a picture (especially if it's already in stencil form ), get a paper stencil made, and get that onto a shirt. I just need to get letters sorted (should be easy, just have to research the trick for getting them nice and even) and I can make shirts for everyone

As to painting batches of Infinity.. yeah I just can't see myself doing it. I painted 3 shasvastii at the same time while I was busting those guys out, and that's probably my max. And I only did that because the skin had some mixing and several short steps that was conducive to it. Nomads may stick to solo. I like to have at least one extra model prepped when I'm painting though, so I've got something to do while things are drying on the primary piece. Mars attacks minis are kind of great for this, I tossed maybe 15-20 minutes at Phil while I was painting my ninja and now they're both done, it's a good synergy.

He will be distantly related to my weaponized big mech MVP. Black with some grey highlights. I'll take a photo later to see what you guys think about peeling some of the undercoat back for super easy chip weathering, I'm kind of torn. He's gonna get dinged up the second he lands, but it's fun to paint 'shiny new' things too.

I don't think I actually took any pictures, but I can if you'd like, when you need them. I half considered giant magnets and bearings for the waist and shoulders but meh, not really worth it IMO, I almost glued everything but the forearms but I'm kind of glad I did do the shoulders and waist.

I'm gonna be keeping all of my Mars Attacks! stuff simple and efficient, there's a lot of it to paint and the effort is really just meant to enhance the visual appeal of the board game, not win me any awards

I'm sure right now there's some cheap toys at Walmart and target that would have a good vibe for the drop ship front. I haven't gone through their $10 toy aisle lately.....might have to make a run today.

There are some amazing toy jets these days. The Imaginex (?) series has some for Wonder Woman and Batman that are very large for about $14 at Target. Or you can get a chibi chinook at the dollar store and cut away the parts you don't want.

@Bob, cool thanks, that's two more things to investigate

I was gonna do the lighting on the GSR so I could highlight it today and get it done pretty soon. Didn't get there but I doubt airbrushing those couple of parts would ruin my paint job, so I guess I may do that anyway. Still need to finish the terrain piece of my diorama and paint those guys too, but I need good quality painting time, highlighting the GSR should be pretty easy to do while watching the kiddo.

Going really simple for the main color of big stompy. So far I've put a drybrush of coal and badger fur down. Should I hit it one more time with a lighter grey? On the legs, torso is there just to show the unaltered undercoat.

Didn't get much else done this weekend, my wife and daughter are both fighting off some kind of colds so meh. Probably gonna strive to finish that T-shirt, and then either finish big stompy or back to the dio.

GSR is looking good, another highlight can't hurt if you want it to look shiny, although personally I like it how it is.

Tshirt is pretty cool too!

Still alive:

Just not getting much done...

Also...

The game's martians are a bit different as they follow the comics/cards and the movie is it's own IP that took things a bit differently. Such as the green/red skeletonificating death rays.

Also also...

Between cold weather changing the rhythm of everyone's day, deciding neverwinter nights is still fun to play (tiny gnome leveling dragon disciple to eventually become half dragon and all awesome is very amusing ), and some other things... really slow moving over here.

Finally...

If you like mass battle fantasy wargames, don't miss out on Kings of War 2.0 on kickstarter now. Not advertising, just like to circulate cool stuff. I'll probably get the book. Maybe some demons since I don't have any of those from any other system and it's hard to argue with hard plastic kits.

I'm going to keep it simple on mine and just paint them black to represent tinted/bulletproof glass.

The blue OSL style for glass doesn't look quite right to me, I'm planning on clipping off the glass bits on my ruins and then maybe make some clear broken glass from blister packs.

Terrain will take a bit of work to get right I think, the connector holes look fine with Deadzone, but they stand out a bit on the brick buildings. Might properly base and add rubble to the ruins and putty in the connector holes.

Really happy with my Mars Attacks too, it is great to just be able to take complete models straight out of the packaging and get started, opening up the box actually felt fun rather than the feeling of adding yet more to the mountain of assembled restic I already own.

Yeah mars attacks is great, from the ready-to-play main game box to the awesome add-ons. The intact buildings aren't bad but I think the ruins are a bit more successful. Good call on the glass for the trucks I may go with that.
