Interesting. This might work and isn't too hard to pull off. I'll keep it in mind. But in the meantime i've started to work on the half finished cultists and my havocs. And i hope that when i'm finished with that i have decided what do do with the hair.

Sadly i'm out of charged batteries for my camera or i'd had put up some images. I'll charge them up and put the pics up tomorrow.

Thanks.

And i have recharged my camera and as promised here are the pictures.

Those are the havocs i'm working on. One still needs an arm and the autocannons will be chaosified further. Also 2 bases are missing. But they are nearly done now. Next will be the 4 with missle launchers.

And this is Kharns head. The front is finished but the back of his bunny ears need some more decoration.

And those are the cultists i worked on. One still needs arms and i also have a few more to assemble.

And finaly this guy, another cultist insipred by an anime character Just ignore the shotgun as the original character only had the pistol. Can you guess who this is? Just a hint: he wears red.

It feels like ages since i watched trigun and i don't remember much. I wasn't that fast with reading english subtitles then and only understood half of the story of the later episodes. But it still was a really funny and enjoyable anime and if i had access to it today i would probably rewatch it.

And here are more pictures for you. I attached kharns head and he turnes out to be a really big mean guy like he is supposed to be. The pose isn't as dynamic as i planed it to be but i still like it. Also i'm quite amazed how good the axe looks in comparison to how easy it was for me to create. Maybe i have to accept that i actually getting better at conversions. And i also like how the hidden slaanesh icon plays out. Can you spot it?

And just to show how big and mean he is a size comaprison next to a regular weak and puny marine. I just need a backpack, add the sole of his feet and maybe add some rivets to his armor and he is completely done.

Oh, my! Again, so much stuff to comment on...now where to start?

I guess I'll just focus on the things that are most interesting to me for now

Before I comment on your newest work, however, let me point you in the direction of GuitaRasmus' new daemon engines , since the way he has recombined existing bitz from different vehicle and walker kits reminded me on a discussion here in your thread about how to best achieve a more organic, biomechanic look for daemon engines. Checking out his new models may give you some additional inspiration on that!

Right, with that out of the way...

- the Daemon Princess is coming along really well! The one area I am not fond of is her right hand, since it's hard to make out whether there actually is a right hand yet: The area on the grip of the axe looks like it might just be some bandages wrapped around the hilt of the weapon. If that area is actually meant to be the hand, I guess it will need some improvement. Or am I seeing it wrong?

Regarding her headwear, seeing how she is a Slaaneshi character and I am feeling kind of whimsical, I'll just suggest a mohawk, like the ones on the retro daemonettes from the late 80s. This also wouldn't preclude any horns or bony ridges to be added, so it might be worth a thought

- great work on the Havocs so far: They look suitably kitted out and imposing for the role!

- when it comes to Kharn, I love the bulked out sculpt and head! I also love how his armour seems more form-fitting than is usual, underlining his well-muscled shape. The one point of contention to me would be the joint between his torso and his bare arm: It just looks far too flimsy to me, like a joint on an action figure. If you look at the stock Kharn model, you'll notice that his arm gets slightly broader where it meets the armour, to show the muscle groups running from the underside of his arm to his torso. That muscle is missing on your model. leading to a slightly "articluated toy"-like look (I hope this is making sense, since it's rather difficult to explain). I hate to be pointing thos out, even more so on an otherwise brilliant sculpt, yet this area is really bugging me, and I feel it's letting the rest of the model down, as it is.

Looking forward to seeing your next update!

EDIT: Spotted the hidden icon too! Dude, that's truly brilliant!

Thank you for the link. Some really inspiring kit bashes in it and i'm more and more thinking of trying it out myself. My money is still limited and i also have mixed feelings about cutting up good and expensive kits into pieces. But i have at least a small income for the next month until my master thesis starts so i might try at least a minor kitbash.
But before that i'll probably work on the other stuff before i tackle the larger kits like my defiler and the spider rhinos/predators.
So my next tasks are finishing my sculpts and my havocs and start my counts as thousand sons/chosen with the anvil industy bits i ordered and building harem guard style nurgle marines like you suggested earlier.
My cultists will probably be thrown somewhere along the way but with a low priority. I have some many of them and actually don't need them that much.

You don't see it wrong. There is no hand. I took the picture before it was sculpted. And the structure you see is supposed to be bone with carved ridges for a better grip.

I'm still torn what to do. I really like the boney scalelike spikes like on those repitles but what i fear is that i wouldn't match the overall feel and style of the model. She is basicly of human propotions, just massivly tall. And i can't add other details to dehumanise the rest of her. So it might come down to a more "traditional" deamonette style. Either stringy tentacley hair or a shaved head with a mohavk of some sort (tentacles, spikes or just hair). But i think that she needs a more aggressive look so maybe the mohawk in combination with tattooed runes might be best suited. The Eternal Siren on the other hand is more slaaneshi in style and would probably work best with long and flowing (tentacle/bonelike) hair.

- great work on the Havocs so far: They look suitably kitted out and imposing for the role!

Thanks.
I'm quite happy how they're turning out. I was a bit unsure if the anvil industry weapons would look too "clean" for chaos marines. But just adding those bajonettes and some trophies made them quite fitting. I'll just need a few rivets on the bajonettes and maybe another skull trophy on one of them and they are finished. The missle launcher guys are also nearly finished but i'm still looking at ways to chaosify the launchers.

I hadn't noticed it until you pointed it out but you are right. I'll look into it and add the missing muscles in. And don't hate yourself for pointing out flaws. You can only become better by learning from your errors. And somethimes those errors needs to be revealed by others if you can't see them yourself. I quite like how you search for those flaws and point them out to me.

EDIT: Spotted the hidden icon too! Dude, that's truly brilliant!

Thanks

And also a big "thank you" to the rest of you for your praise. You are part of what drives me on in the hobby. Without all the positive replies and constructive critisicm the project might have lost it's drive along the way when i was feeling down and depressed. And if you continue like that you might even see me restart my attempts at actually painting my models.

I have a small update for you. I haven't done much sculpting. I experimented with instant mould a little bit more and created a few custom bases with it. Also i assembled my havocs. The autocannon ones are finished and the missle launcher ones are also nearly complete. But i ran into a small problem. Only after posing them i realized that some of the launchers collide with the raised exhausts of the chaos backpacks. I either need to get other backpacks. (Khorne berzerker ones might work) or i have to change the normal ones slightly.

Also my hobby time will probably dimish a little as i have restarted an old java programming project.

And here are the mentioned havocs. I'm still thinking how to chaosify the launchers some more. And there also is the backpack problem ... But they are really close to completion.

I've made a few more experiments with instand mold. You might have already noticed the greenish bases i did with it. I made a comparison shot of one of my moulded bases. It works quite nicely for that. Once primed and painted you will have a hard time seeing the difference.

And you already know how crazy i sometimes can be. So i started to scratchbuild some heavy weapons just to test out how good/bad instant two-piece moulds are. It started with just a bunch of plasticard but i couldn't stop myself and that is the result. Now i'm actually planing on finishing them completely. The plasma cannon needs some additional bulk i think and i probably have to redo the coils and muzzle. I did a sloppy job there and if i actually want to use those it will bug me forever seeing those warped non straight lines there ...

And here is the result of my first two piece instant mould useage. It looks okay but not as good as i hoped it would. I probably can improve on it but it might be better to look into actual resin casting if i want to get better results ... I'll fix it up and close the imperfections once its completely cured and i can sand and file it. And i will try to create a better mould useing more instant mould. And also i'll not try to do both sides with one bowl of hot water as some of the imperfections might be a result of instant mold beeing not hot enough on the second side.

I thought about removing one vent and adding the spare missles onto that side to avoid looking one-sided. I had thought about moving the one vent but didn't liked the idea. But strangely i never though on moving both vents. This might be an option.
The loyalist backpack is probably not an option as those are also to wide. I used a normal loyalists backpack and even those collided slightly with the launcher and didn't sit flush. How stupid of me to not dryfit them correctly before posing ...

Another option i just thought about are 3rd party backpacks. Maybe there are some without a wide profile that i can use. And due to all my scratchbuilding i probably haven't enough regular ones to outfit all of my marines so i need to get some additional backpacks whatever i do.

Looking good with those moulds there, did you think about letting it cure in the mold and then prying it out? You might get better results.

It was cured fairly hard and only slightly rubbery. I know that the warpage isn't result of removing it to early.

There are a few key problems with my mould. First both sides have warpage so that details aren't lineing up properly around the mould line area. And one of the cylinders at the backside is totaly mangled. I didn't get the instant mould perfecly around it.

The second problem i had was how to align both mould properly. In my next try i'll poke some holes in my first mould so that when i do the second side i'll get nice connecting pins.

Another problem is that one side of the mold is to thin and as a result i need to be very carfully when applying pressure or i will indent the whole piece. As a result i could only press from one side. I need to use more material for the moulds next time, press the instant mould better around the smaller details and make marks for better mould aligning.

I've started to assemble my counts as thousand sons and dry fitted one of them. As i'm still in need of ideas for the head i have created a seperate topic here. If you have ideas or just want to add additional ideas it would by nice if you did it there.

And also here is the beginning of the rest of them. I'll probably magnetize a few of them so that i could exchange a few weapons and maybe play them as chosen or regular marines too.

And crazy as i am i did this torso piece inspired by Mephiston. But to be honest i don't have the slightest clue what to do with it.

I've worked a little bit on my demon princess some more. I decided to use the mohawk and tattooed runes concept. She still need ears and maybe some scars or something to get more features to the head. But what do you say?

And i also started the wings that are supposed to go on her. Still a lot to do but at least you can see how i plan on doing it.

What are you thinking of doing for ears? Have you considered Eldar ears? Maybe during The Fall she willingly made her pact with She Who Thirsts.

I haven't though what ears to do. But i'll probably do some non normal human ones. So eldar ones are a possible choise.

Another quick update.

I've worked on my kharn a little bit more, creating his base and adding a few rivets onto his armor as well as fixing the missing muscle under his arm. As stupid as i am i took the picture exactly on an angle so you can't see the fix ... But i used the little space i had under his arm to at least try to fix it. And now i declare him as finished - at least his body. For his backpack i still need to see what to use. A normal khorne berzerker one would work, but i don't know if it would look to small on him. I have to try it out sometime. But at least i can now remove Kharn from my pile of models that need work.

And i also put a few more of my counts as thousand sons together. I'll magnetize weapons on 4 of them so that i could play them as other units if i wanted - chosen for example. And i'll probably convert one of them into the sorcerer instead of using one of my other sorcerers as squad leader. But i have at least a few days for that to decide.

So, i've added ears to her and she looks nearly finished now. I only want to add some cables onto her power fist that fuse into her arms and file her feet claws to a sharp point. Then only the base and her wings need work. I already have bought a base covered with skulls for her but i want her to stand on a small hill. So I'll build a putty hill and cover it with additional layers of skulls both press molded ones and the content of my sack o' skulls.
