Thinking about the D fish and pathfinders, specifically the new drone that is supposed to sit in the cupola might stop me giving the fish to another unit as they may make it dedicated to the path squad. Not sure if i like that.

My one an only hope is that when I buy riptide/more suits, and other models that come with more drones......is that they actually have bits for the new drones so I am not stuck with 19,000 sprues of gun drones i do not need.

So how are they like Gundams, apart from that they are both robots?
It's a question of relatives.
If you start with Space Marines and Dreadnoughts, Tau Crisis suits do look enormously long-limbed

Speaking of gundams, for those who don't like the riptide, you really can proxy in a gundam now. A master grade Gundam Heavyarms can be found online for less than half the price of a riptide, and it has essentially the same weapon loadout. Just replace it's head with a crisis suit head and paint it tausept ochre.

Seems they have modified where the top hatch used to be. Any ideas?
Also, heres to hoping the Nipple Speakers on the Riptide are actually Mega Smashers!

I think the idea is that the devilfish and the path finders use a special drone to communicate and confer bonuses. If you look close, that top "hatch" is the same as the top of their special drone.

I was hoping pathfinders wouldn't be constrained by still taking a devilfish, if what you say is correct that is probably not the case

I has been said that they are not required to take a devilfish anymore, if that eases your pain. Use markerlights turn out to be bad, I'll keep using my tetras. Love the models.

Note that in all likelihood the Tau vehicles finally got the 5th edition points discount. The rumored cost of the Hammerhead with SC is the same as the current price for a Railhead with Burst Cannons.
Should make the Pathfinder Devilfish much easier to swallow.

You're awfully confident about the aerodynamics and structural strength of a fictional airplane designed to fly on other planets with unknown atmospheres using technology that doesn't exist currently made out of entirely fictional materials.

Forgeworld broadsides do not use the standard torso, only the forgeworld crisis suits do that.
First point: The point of the delta wing/variable wing/forward-swept wing designs is that they introduce inherent instability to the airframe of the fighter, which is good, because it makes the plane easier to throw into different maneuvers. Straight wing planes like the majority of the WWII aircraft are inherently stable airframes, excellent for things that require stability such as bombing and CAS but bad for actual maneuvering with any degree of haste or tightness. Thus, straight wings are great for something like the Sunshark bomber, but terrible for the Razorfish, which is why I will be converting a Barracuda instead.
Err no, not really. A straight wing can be just as unstable as a delta/swept/variable wing. The point of a swept/delta wing is that they are safer/more stable in a supersonic flight envelope, whereas using a straight wing at those speeds could very well result in the loss of the aircraft and/or its crew. Variable wing geometries exist to maximize performance at any point along the aircrafts flight envelope (theoretically, the F-111, F-14, and MiG-23 have all proven that even though performance is maximized it isn't really superior relative to fixed wing aircraft), because at lower speeds a straight wing provides greater maneuverability to the aircraft.
Also, canards can actually increase stability.

Anyway,
I'm kinda annoyed about the new Pathfinder devilfish drone thing... It looks awesome, now I'm gonna have to mod my existing devlifishes >.<

Yeah, but the MG kit might be pretty close in scale judging from the pictures formerly posted here, plus the lower-grade gundam wing kits are terrible.

Wouldn't 1:100 be too big still, even for the riptide? I thought 1:144 was not only the smallest but at least on pics be the closest in scale.
