@Chelnov That is awesome, have you decided is this an effigy of Gork or Mork?

I'm very glad there is at least one entry based on a tank chassis finished or not it is cool better than the stompa model I think. Orks can pull off the 'giant robot on a tank' concept pretty well.

Woah, impressive work there. This competition is so strong. I don't envy the judges !

I had a bit of disaster today whilst flocking - basically my Woodland Scenics 'scenic cement' spray wouldn't work so I had to use a different spray head, but it made a mess and the cement seems to have gone a little over the 'sell by' date... Think I managed to save it though and ended up using good old fashioned hair spray to fix the flock in place

Some final touches to do on the stones tomorrow and then I'll post some final pics - I'm away all week on business from Monday so wont be able to make the deadline otherwise...

Good to know! I already mentioned it that there is the obligatory weeklong extension... its tradition you know but there are enough good entries as it is that the deadline will be Sunday July 7th... that is unless everyone gets their entries in on time.

Looking awesome dude.

We use "awesome" far to much around here. Epic work like this is just so AWESOME. But awesome is becoming standard from you guys.

OMG Graven... That is beyond words... I wasn't sure how well the toy would workas a piece of playable terrain, but all i can say is 'me of little faith'

Righty, on that note, I humbly offer up my entry for Meade's wonderful competition...

The Stone Circle
A mystical and ancient monument whose purpose and meaning is lost in the mists of time. No markings exist on the stones or the central table so it is impossible to say who placed the stones on the site or why. What is known though is that a powerful lay line runs through the site and that many races are drawn to the circle for the power that it embues whoever is in possesion. Many battles have been fought around the stones over the years and no doubt many more in the future. The most common combatants are Human and Orc, with their blood staining the surrounding land, whilst only the army leaders dare to set foot within the circle...

Really nice, hadn't appreciated fully the scale, very nice indeed! And thanks for the kind words, although I'm fairly sure it will actually destroy me.

Idea for the person that runs / judges the next contest- don't allow WIP or completed shots in the thread until it is time for judging.

It's inspirational to see such amazing work but IMO it reduces participation. Prospective contestants may not join / share if they feel their skill level has already been surpassed.

To be fair though, I'm giving a secondary prize for participation/coolness/other stuff. Not everyone has the same skills resources and time and it is a contest, but a friendly one.... the point is to encourage people to share their work, to inspire others. The reward is you win the contest and it's just a small reward to give incentive. I just feel that forbidding people to post WIP's just defeats the point of it, as well as further buries the thread... we want people posting on it so everyone sees and sees the quality of our Riveting.

There is only one cure for low participation! Make an entry yourself and win the contest!

That is cool of you to do.

I would love to do that at some point, but it won't be in the foreseeable future. I'm hoping I'll be back on track by late fall.

That said, good luck to all and congratulations to the winner!

I really hope my WIP images didn't dissuade anyone.

Anyway, I'm done.

oil wash took me 2 hours to get the effect I wanted and 20 to get rid of the smell of the white spirit.

No Atheists in Foxholes

The rain had finally stopped.
Guardsman Ryl Alders looked up at the sky. There was still no sun, but Ryl would take his blessings where he could.
This world was horrid. Nearly constant rain and foul-smelling mud dampened more than just clothes. They dampened the mind, and the spirit just as well.
Ryl had seen it first hand. The other night, during a lull in the fighting, Guardsman Jor had taken his own life, saying he'd never see sun again.

Now, he surely never would.

Father Jacobi had been the most distraught. He had seen Jor's distress, and he had done all he could to save the poor lad, but in the end, nothing prevailed.

As Ryl stared at the sky he heard a murmuring at the shrine. He looked over and saw Father Jacobi marching out for morning prayer. He looked solemn, but also at peace. Sergeant Gors, still nursing his broken left arm, moved closer and knelt down in the mud.

"Guardsman, hold my Primer for me." he said softly, pulling a well worn copy of the Primer from a pouch on his belt. Ryl nodded and knelt next to him and held open his Primer. "Guardsmen, gather. Its time." The rest of the squad shambled in. The fighting against the Orks had been costly, and the squad was battered and tired. They gathered around the shrine, little more than a salvaged stone column with a Aquila bolted to the top.

Father Jacobi stood in front of it and held his hand out over the troops.

"Sons, the Emperor knows how hard this is for you. He knows how much you suffer in his name. And he thanks you for your service in his name. But we must keep up the fight my children. We can not allow the green skinned horde to hold this world. This world where men, women and children have been cast down without a second thought. We must fight, and we must win."

Thanks guys! Looks like my job as a judge is getting harder and harder.

@Noodles: just

@WeaponPrime: your entry tells the most story so far, definitely gets points for that!

@Graven: Don't hang up your hat dude!! But either way you still get points for participation. Your boldness in construction is an inspiration to us all.
