Cheers dude, and if you're looking to build your own honsou, check out my previous thread on building him, it could possibly save you some of the grief I had. Lol.

Had a look and I like it. I have a few World Eaters characters to finish first but I will visit the Iron Warriors at some point in the future.

Wow this army is fantastic!!

The Honsou and possessed dreadnought conversions in particular are amazing.

If this is table top standard (which it definately is not) then my own Iron Warrior army must be 'only play with the lights of so no one sees your minis' standard!

I have a few pics up here but need to get some more taken of my finished 1500pt army (in fact you commented on the thread about the lack of hazard stripes!).

To be honest, I am not a big fan of the hazard stripes on my models (and the one attempt I made on a rhino looked crap) so I probably won't do them again.

Some of my terminator squad have them but that is only because I bought them part painted from a guy who did it better than I could.

Why thank you RH, I'm not a fan of ott striping myself , but I forced myself to start painting them due to pressure from others. Lol
Anyway, I suppose it's about time I posted some pics of my third squad. Still wip of course, but they're getting there.

Awesome looking stuff as per usual. Is it just the flash or is your new camera making the blues pop on the maulerfiend? I'd love to know which metallics you have used on the defiler.

Thanks dude. I think it's a combination of the camera and the luminous ink I used.
As for the defilement, it's leadbeltcher and brass scorpion for the metal parts, washed with sepia ink then drybrushed progressively lighter silvers.
The face is khorne red, sepia wash, layered khorne red and Mephiston red, with black ink for the detailing.

Completed the face plate today, and got some work done on the claws and auto cannons. tried an experiment on the claw blades and i think it worked, any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

work continues on the defiler, a bit slower than i'd like, but i'm experimenting as i go. The idea was to try and make the "metal" parts look like actual metal rather than metallic painted plastic. I'm fairly pleased with the results but i would appreciate any opinions.

Well i managed to get back on track with the defler today. I still have the weapons to do and some detailwork is needed, but i have got most of the metalic work done and ive mocked him up to work out the posing.

Looking sweet! I really like the exposed flesh/pipes on the mauler, and the Defiler looks quite nice, very Iron warrior.

I'm loving the metallic on that Defiler, he looks quite menacing. He reminds me slightly of the Replicators from Stargate. I don't know if its just a photo error but did you intend to make the front pincer claws look quite tarnished and worn/scratched? If you did I think that's an awesome job, if not a happy accident.

Cheers dude, and yeah its supposed to look old and worn. My intention was to have the whole defiler look ancient, i'm fairly pleased with the effect so far, though i'm aware of areas that i need to improve on.
Anyway, Heres an update on my progress on the defiler and my third csm squad. As always any c&c hugely appreciated

I see your ability to paint many diagonal lines adjacent to eachother has improved. I like how "Hearty" the chevrons look, mine always ended up too bright... the visibe seams on this thing are making me cringe hard though.

Erm... Yeah... I kind of dropped the ball there.
Tbh they aren't that obvious irl, but I concede that they do need fixing. I'll get them sorted this weekend.

Well... i got distracted from the defiler when i had an idea to "improve" my hellbrute a little, (lets face it the standard one isnt great). Cue the cutting and filing and a trip or two to the bits box, and i'm left with this guy. I'm not 100% sold on him yet and would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Still not 100% happy with the hellbrute, but at least its an improvement. lol. Anyway, I got some paint on the hellbrute, and started my havoc squad.
I also hit a milestone this week, just over 3000pts of iron warriors painted so far. maybe its time to start on the blade dancers and other elements of the army.

Managed to get most of the heldrake base coated and shaded, plus did some of the detail work. Just the wings and claws to get done now before finishing up the details.
I also started work on my second rhino, which is a rescue project from a previous army.

Not much done this week due to work rudely interupting my hobby time. however i did manage to get some work done. The heldrake has most of the work on its metal parts, the wings are nearly done, and im quite pleased with the flesh/tubing (hope it shows in the pics). The rhino now has some of its (dodgy) freehand work done and im now working on the weathering. The backstory is that this rhino has seen millenia of service, and although its best days are long gone, it continues to serve the Iron Warriors reliably. once i finish the tank itself, i will be adding trophies from its countless battles. Plus i'll be using it for some much needed practice on my freehand, which as i will be "weathering" over it, doesnt need to be perfect.

If I could suggest. My son has an iron warrior army and I usually paint the black and yellow stripes. I first paint the yellow then I use a super fine map marker to draw the black. After a nice wash it looks great.

Map markers I use are

Thanks for the suggestion dude. I already use markers for my troops and any small hazard stripes, however I really want to perfect the art of freehanding them.
