Welp, they just announced the new expansion.
Here's the essence of it.
They ran out of ideas so have fun fighting the bad guys from warcraft 2.

Cataclysm: 2010
Wrath of the Lich King: 2008
Burning Crusade: 2007
WoW: 2005
So about 2 years per game. It was announced this year which means it won't be released until 2014.

No wait, it'll be the Fel orcs in this expansion, then the burning legion in the next one. I thought having an under sea expansion would be cool where you fight the Naga and maybe make them a playable race? I quite liked the underwater quests in GW2. But I've completely lost interest in Wow anyway so it doesn't really matter.

Actually it's worse, apparently it's the horde if they had not been touched by the legion at all, for note that's BlackHand, the first warchief from warcraft 1 in the upper left, and then you've got kargath Bladefist, Kilrogg Deadeye, Durotan, Grommash Hellscream, Ner'Zhul, and Gul'Dan, due to some time travel shenanigans, they are now the Iron Legion, armed with technology from current WoW and that they've never entered the blood pact, thus the burning legion never came to be in Azeroth, and thus so much history would've been changed.
Following the events of Siege of Orgrimmar, Garrosh Hellscream was imprisoned to be tried in Pandaria. Before the trial can conclude, aided by an ally who can manipulate the timelines, Garrosh escapes to Draenor of the past, and prevents the orcs from ever drinking the blood of Mannoroth, creating an untainted Iron Horde under the leadership of Grommash Hellscream.
It is the era of an Old Horde, forged with steel rather than fel blood. A union of great orc clans, the Iron Horde, tramples the planet Draenor beneath terrifying war machines. Azeroth falls next. Worlds uncounted will follow.
You must mount a desperate charge on Draenor – savage home of orcs and adopted bastion of stoic draenei – at this pivotal moment. Your allies are legends from across time; your fortress a foothold in an alien land. Lead the armies of one world against another…before the future itself is unmade.

Yes..Even if the storyline itself makes me cringe in revulsion, the thought of seeing ORCS back at their War1-2 prime is kinda making me giddy, they actually KEPT their lore intact too.

It's an interesting idea but I think fundamentally one of the problems of the new expansion is that I think this is the first one they've had where no new races/classes have been announced. New content should be a given, but what other incentive is there besides new skins? Revamped skins (which should have been updated beforehand anyways) should not be one of the main centerpieces of the expansion. I mean at this point many games/MMO's surpass WoW when it comes to personalizing and modifying one's aesthetics anyways so I find it disheartening to hear this is all they have to offer so far.

My only issue is its Back to the future, timeline diversion type stuff, which is a really weak plot device.
I suppose if Draenor is fun to explore it really won;t matter, a good portion of Warcraft storyline is hardly stella anyway.
More important to me are the new racial models, dat Dwarf.
Think I might need to race change my Human Pali back to her orgiinal Dwarf form. Or make use of that straight to Lvl 90 button.
Others are coming along nicely as well..
Really though, want to see Orc female (my first and oldest alt, 87 at the mo pushing for 90) and Human and Night Elf female.

I never thought to say it, but this expansion sounds pretty good. The idea of some extra lore of old school Orcs, an entire new world, new models and instant boost to 90 sounds pretty cool. I hope I don't fall for it, but it really does sound cool

Time travel.... with so much they could do with the current timeline they decide time travel.
Naga are still doing their thing on log in hole in the bottom of the sea.
Burning legion is still a dam threat
Nope we like shove the orc story down your throat so we are going with time travel...........

Its apparently supposed to be an 'alternate' timeline, like when Biff stole the almanac and gave it to his past self.
Its silly and goofy, but I'm sure I'll end up getting it at some point anyway. New character models look great, not to mention some of the actual game changes.

Oh boy, another expansion where the player characters will be completely overshadowed by lore characters with a plot that will no doubt be set up in a novel and barely referenced in-game while Metzen writes some more "terrific" Mary Sue fiction that's completely focused on the Horde.
I also like how they keep insisting it's not time travel when it sure as gak looks like time travel to me, even if it's "alternate dimension!" time travel.
At least the new character models look good and the Garrison stuff sounds interesting.
But then again, I haven't really enjoyed WoW since Vanilla and skipped TBC and WotLK, came back for Cataclysm and got bored after three months and quit again, so I guess it's pretty much never been the game for me.

I wonder how long it'll be before Blizzard pull the plug on it? A quick google search tells me it's still got 7.6M subscribers. That's still a massive number. But how many more years and dodgy expansions do you guys reckon there'll be?
As aside, one of the (many) reasons I don't go back to it is because I'd have to install all those expansions which would probably take a day.

The cata disc contained the data for all of the previous games so you only had to install the Cata disc. I'm not sure if they continued that with Fistful of Pandas, but they might do that with Back to the Future 6: We're Running Out of Ideas

My subscription ran out a couple weeks back and being broke as of now I decided to take a short break to reinvigorate my interest in raiding.
Then this expansion showed up and I decided to quit. I don't know, it just seems a little.. odd to make an expansion during the Orc-Draenic war (Read: Genocide). If you ever played Burning Crusade you know how that went down. Just walk down that big road from the portal. Those bones you see? Those were made from the Draenei that were killed.
Why is Garrosh still the badguy, though? Why couldn't of it been a Burning Legion higher up or maybe the Infinite Dragonflight? Or maybe, I don't know, Queen Azshara? Seriously, there are bad guys more interesting that Brown Boy.
