I'm not sure how I feel about this release. I like some of the models but the (lack of) rules leaks makes me nervous...

Those shoulders go way beyond 40K and are well into completely over-the-top WarZone shoulder pad territory...

I think those shoulders help the Tyranid Guard main purpose, which is being a living shield for the Hive Tyrant. Those pauldrons really look like a big shield.

Nope, I've been in the hobby for about 8 years. I still think over sized pauldrons look silly. Especially when the guard's clearly obstruct his arms a bit.
I'm not seeing the obstruction personally. If you look at the left rending claw under the whip arm it seems quite free to move around. If anything is keeping the Guard from putting its claws near its face it would be the oversized forearms.
I really like the look of the carapace too. It has a similar look to when beetles open their carapace to fly, in my opinion.

Almost as if they went: "Hey Warzone! Hey War Machine! You think you've overtaken our shoulder pads? Think again!" Ok, now that I've finished geeking out over a 40k-scale Exocrine, here are my thoughts: 1. Tyranid Prime is ok, I guess. 2. Warriors... don't look any different. 3. Haruspex looks crazy. Can't wait to see the full thing. Surprised they went with the Haruspex over a Malefactor (aka the Transportofex), but still. 4. Harpy looks great. 5. Crone looks interesting, but it appears to only attack with the parasite bombs. 6. If anything the Crone's parasites look pretty cool. 7. "Alas poor Yarrick, I knew him well". Kind've of a weird hybrid between the original Tyrant Guard and the current Tyrant Guard. I honestly prefer the current ones - they look like big implacable mounts of flesh and armour. These look like Warriors with small heads and MASSIVE shoulder pads. 8. It's an Exocrine. It's the one thing from Epic that I always wanted them to make for 40K and they finally have. Gives me hope that we'll get a dual Malefactor/Dactylis eventually. And best of all? No stupid bloody names. No "Tyrannofex", no "Venomthrope", and no "Pyrovore". Instead we get proper Tyranid names.

Crone will be a bomber/flamer. Look at it's mouth cannon. Harpy will likely switch to AA with some kind of s6 or s7 version of a bio gun I would guess.

No wings in the Warriors box. I hope you weren't too attached to Shrikes...
No word on a 2nd wave yet.

I think the 2D picture of the Tyrant Guard make it difficult to really see just how dynamic the models are. The "strong arms" of these Tyrant Guard look more appropriate than the knuckle walking predecessors, or the skinny ones from long ago. It also looks like a creature more capable of rampaging when the Tyrant dies. GW's paint schemes for Tyranids have always been awkward, which doesn't help either.
I LOVE the big bug kit, and the flyer. I'm guessing the Crone fires not only those parasites, but also something from it's mouth.
I second the Exocrine, and this looks way better than the Armorcast version.

1. Tyrant Guard look beyond terrible. They would literally be unable to bring their arms fully forward with those pauldrons. Last model looked good, imo.
2. I don't care enough about the exorcine model, it's more the "Here's a new big gun model!" Last one we got was BS3 for a ridiculous cost. Honestly, how many Tyranofexes do you see in lists? Do you really think the Exorcine will make it into a list?
3. Haruspex. Tyranofex model is to Exorcine model as Mawlock model is to Haruspex model. It's just plain lazy is what it is.
4. New warriors. Let's hope the rules are good enough, because I do like both warriors as a concept and the models.
5. Harpy/Crone. Good looking model, but with Tau interceptor everywhere and markerlights making FMCs fall out of the sky, will it be enough? Opposite to most, I like the idea of the wing parasites.
6. I forgot what goes here. Haruspex: I've seen enough Hentai to know where this is going.

I dislike the new Tyrant Guard, but I'm biased toward my conversion (old tiny Screamer killer with the Tyrant Guard shield and whip).
I dunno about the Exocrine. It could be awesome, it could suck worse than the Tyrannofex. Ditto the other new big bugs. The rumors of no Spore in the codex and (apparent) lack of other transport options makes me very sad. I do like the look of most of the models though.

Blood Angel Chapter Master with Wings

Crone looks like it has a major 'screamer/killer' bio plasma attack judging by those feeds to the gun-mouth.
Overall this release looks not bad, but at the same time less exciting than I thought it would be. Warriors look the same to me... Exocrine looks like the T-fex concept art in the previous codex. Harpy looks ok but I will wait to see the whole thing... I think I would have preferred to see the guns in the wings a la Harridan.
Tyrant Guard... eh... I don't hate it as much as some others, but I definitely prefer the bulky powerful current ones.
Anyways overall everything is pretty solid, but I was looking forward towards some a new zoanthrope/venomthrope box and a pyrovore/biovore box. To me, the zoes and venoms just beg for plastic, and the biovore is a blighted eyesore next to everything else and is desperate for an update... the pyrovore should have been the new biovore if you ask me.
Anyhow, hoping there will be more either with this release or at least a second wave to fill out the remaining bits and pieces.

I really do hope we get a second wave like you've described:
1. Combo Venomthrope/Zoanthrope box.
2. Combo Pyrovore/Biovore box (maybe the 4th iteration of the Biovore won't suck!).
3. Clamshell plastic Lictor.
4. Clamshell plastic Broodlord.
5. Combo Dactylis/Horuspex box.

I am not impressed with any of the new models. I feel like nids did not need a two month release. Maybe it is just the paint job and I will grow to like them as I see fan painted models. Let's just say I won't be starting a nid army any time soon.

That wouldn't make much sense (despite it being a fictional universe) for a creature to have the muscle structure to support both flight and firing weapons that kick out of the same appendage. Probably knock himself out of the sky doing that. Wings are far too thin to house the contracting bulbous sacs commonly associated with Tyranid missile weapons.
My only concern thus far is the Heavy Support slot:
Carnifex
Tyrannofex
Trygon
Mawloc
Biovore
Exocrine
Haruspex
That's a lot of useful beastliness in the same crowded slot. Here's hoping there's a way to ally with ourselves and/or expand the FO. Granted, I don't believe you should be able to use everything you want in a normal sized game, as list building is a part of the strategy of the game, but it may present issues. Hopefully there will be different list styles with Tyranids that make most, if not all of these monsters usable in some way.
