@ Red Harvest: That's looking really awesome mate

@ Littletower: Nice looking base so far, whats it made of?

Here's my latest as of last weekend

It still looks like that apart from having buttresses on all the sides bar one, I've still got the window frames and corners to do on the outside.

I may not get this finished, I'll try my best!

Looking good One Man Noodles, but, A Table? Are you going to do some interior decorating there? It would be very cool. So I hope you do

By the foot of the Andes

@OneManNoodles: The base is a 30 cm square, 5 mm thick, MDF board. The raised mound is made of expanded polystyrene, with the edges slightly bevelled. Covered in dry wall filler, with sand, litter box gravel and cork stones added on top. Bigger rock outcrop is a piece of plaster rubble.

Wooden skewers for the fence-to-be posts.

As of yesterday:

Building is looking great, BTW.

@ Red Harvest: Looking great, awesome detailing, and loving the working sliding door!

I have some more work done on my League Contest piece.

Spoiler:
As you may recall from the previous pictures, I had some nice water effect on here created by mixing white glue and blue ink, but that dried into this.

I know, right? Completely gone.

So I tried something else that I saw somewhere here on Dakka.

I placed down a thing a thin layer of hot glue, then put some blue ink over that.

I did that twice to kinda create some layering. I hope it looks okay.

Then I started on the trooper. He was already painted, so I ran some green ink over his uniform to add some detail.

Then I painted up the base a bit more.

Next, my poor miserable guardsman needed some meager warmth. I cut a strip of fabric and dunked it in what remained of my nuln oil to give a used look. Then I just handed it to him, and he quickly wrapped himself in it.

Then I layered some white glue over that in order to get it to look wet and cling to my guardsman a little better.

Then I placed him into his little scene of misery.

At this point I also decided that the "water" on the base looked a little too dull, so I put some white glue over it that when its dry I'm hoping that it will make it a little glossy. I don't have any ardcoat or testors gloss so I work with what I got.

Then I put the tarp over his head.

And glue it to the edge of the base.

Thusly he is largely done. He just needs some final touch ups and his piece of fluff that goes with everything I create.

Thoughts? Opinions? Criticism? I'd love to hear what you think.

Jeez. There is some amazing stuff going on here. It's gonna be a really tough comp.

I'm going to revise my entry. What I wanted to do is turning out to be a little trickier then what my skill set can achieve. I may come back to it in the future though. For now though I'm going to try something different.

Hk, your brick tower is also insanely good. Did you cut all the bricks yourself?

at a cookbook... in a game you need whatever edge you can get, eh?^^...imagine the opponent getting his troops into the perimeter...then when he want to move them I will think twice again after he has cut something on his own arm...leaved probably some nasty marks^^...

Well that's a relief. Couldn't imagine cutting that many bricks would be at all fun. How many bricks total are there?

Based on real life commitments I'm unsure if I'll manage to finish my entry by the deadline. Sure that's four weeks away, but... well that's a lot of drinking that I intend to be doing. So we'll have to see if I can manage to finish it, or if its just demoted to material for my Fallouty Blogg.

So much awesome stuff here. I'm going to have to try and pull off all the stops ... again.

@ Littletower: that looks great, thanks for the info, it's pretty sizeable, mine should sit in a 16x21cm rectancgle when I geta round to makeing the base.

By Odin's beard! Vik and hk1x1 you guys are awesome
now 3 weeks and 3 days to finish it . Really tho both your works are already incredible.

With Vik's entry mostly wood, Hk's is plaster and mine made from plastic, is someone making one from sheet metal?

An update on my lowly entry:

The sides are assembled, I've added the rest of the buttresses, I thought I'd cast some in resin to try and get though them quicker and at least it means they are (more or less) Identical.
The round vent on the side is a resin copy of a 3d printed design of mine (see my p&m blog).
I've started on the window frames and I should have that and the corner edging done in a day or 2.

Yes I am interior decorating it I've got printed posters some stuff to go inside that I've had lying around.

looks like the competition has finally started then

Reverse embossing rivets would be easiest on metal

Nice looking Stockade VVD. Perhaps you could name it Fort Courage (an F Troop reference)?

That is a fantastic tower. But does it have indoor plumbing?

This thread is filling up with win. Gotta love it

Anyway, here's what I have at this point.

Need to finish the roofs on the two other shipping container homes/barracks, then onto the exterior details (ie doors and a few bits) then the scatter. Trust me guys, in Infinity it is next to impossible to have enough scatter, and I want this little habitation to be playable. You can see a bit of the scatter starting-- an HVAC unit and what will be, uh, well, a porta-potty/shower. If time remains, a comm tower and a power cell/generator. And interior scatter-- a few cots, foot lockers, equipment lockers etc. And maybe a few other bits and pieces for inside and out. I reckon the 18th is the drop dead deadline for building. That'll leave 10 days for painting. And for a final shot....

That's 70 pounds the little bugger is supporting. Nifty?

Keep up the good work guys.

@ OneManNoodles: That's looking great so far, and if your previous competiton entry is anything to go by,
then I'm sure this will look amazing when finished.

Looking at all the different materials being used in this comp,
we have Plastic, Wood, Plaster and Card.... Could these be the four Elements of the Terrain builder .

@ Red Harvest: I love the attention to detail on those habitats, interior and exterior,
and 70 pounds... that's some sturdy building work .

No worries. And not so brave. There were no minis inside

It's a good way to prevent/minimize warping while the glue dries...though I usually use just one ten pound weight. Also makes a good clamp to hold the piece in place so I can use two hands on it. I do it all the time.

Awesome.

I definitely am amazed by the quality of work here, and the variety of materials. Great work everyone!
