Actually its a good idea. a single swipe and you got rid of the people climbing the wall and you just reset it.
But those guys climbing the wall were no real threat. When they get to the top they're going to be vulnerable when they're trying to drag themselves over the top and any of those who do make it over will be in no state to put up a fight.
You never know, the amount of adrenaline that could go pumping through them is probably substantial.
Its incredible to see how much power the will has over the body.
But personally I think it is also to scare the bejesus out of the people so it makes them think. "Wow, umm, yeah screw climbing that."

Agreed! Joffery was not insane. Joffery only killed Ned Stark because he saw him as a threat, and he is a kid. This guy threatened to kill him.
He is a borderline personality. (Joffery) So it just means he is dangerous and unpredictable.

Well actually, Ned did not threaten to kill Joffrey. In fact he took deliberate steps to protect the lives of the "Baratheon" children, including WARNING THE QUEEN to take her children and flee the capitol to save themselves from Stannis Baratheon's wrath.
His aim was to depose Joffrey and install Stannis as the rightful legitimate King, not to kill Joffrey and his siblings. Stannis on the other hand DID want them dead which is why Ned warned them to flee.
Joffrey did not kill Ned because he was a threat to his life, he killed him because Ned was a threat to Joffrey s political power and authority, something that the pompous little brat had looked forward to all his life and had no intention of giving up, like a child throwing a tantrum when his toys are taken away.

:/
Yes so hanging all those people on sign posts, watching her brother die, killing all the upper class, and also vowing to slaughter the entirety of the lannisters and anyone that betrayed her family is sane?
Yes lets go with that!
Oh yeah, because the slavers totally didn't have it coming. There's nothing morally reprehensible about slavery. At all. The Lannisters? They're a big reason the Targaryen dynasty falls in the first place. They almost wipe out her entire family, what is crazy about retaliating in kind? The only valid point I see in your rebuttal is killing everyone in the upper class. Yeah, that was heavy handed.

So you don't believe in the civil and legal liberties of innocence until proven guilty, the right to a fair trial?
The issue is not that she crucified the "Masters", it's that she picked people at random right regardless of their guilt or innocence and meted out a brutal revenge.
Some of those she crucified were actually innocent and had spoken out against the crucifixion of the slave children, which the show specifically addresses.
She ought to have put the Master are s on trial , identified those truly responsible and spared those who spoke out against the atrocities.

Same goes for me. I really like Arya.
I really don't like Dany.
I think everyone agrees with that.
No one that has read the books likes Dany at all!
We just all want her to die a terrible TERRIBLE DEATH
Nope not true - Dany is the best thing in the books - its all the people on the Wall of Dullness and frolicking with "not Elves" that need killing..................soon
Nope. She's crazy, she's basically the Mad King on Steriods if you ask me. She wants to kill everyone for vengeance! She is more evil than tywin lannister. She thinks her right to the throne is her birth right!
The wall is more important than dany's storyline. Without the wall the people of westeros are fethed.
I love the Nights Watch and Bran's storyline. I hate Dany because she is oh so beloved. Read the books again if you can't see examples of her madness!
After I read his opinions on the Thor movies and Nolan Batman films, I decided that Mr. Morden and I have very different tastes (in probably many, many things). To each his own.
I think that Arya and Daenerys have some interesting similarities and contrasts. They're on quite different paths, but each young woman's path includes both periods of strong self-determination driven by vengeance and periods of helplessness while being buffeted along by the winds of some pretty remarkable events happening around them.
Maybe Arya will be the one who gets Daenerys in the end, who knows?

Do I personally believe in civil and legal liberties? Yes, but that's because I was fortunate enough to grow up in the Western world. Dany didn't have that luxury. Dany lives in a cruel world where trial by combat is an acceptable means of justice. Sure, giving all of them a trial would've been just and fair. But practical? Hell no.
My point is that while Dany can be heavy handed, she isn't insane. She doesn't kill for the pleasure of it like Joffrey. She does what she thinks is necessary and just. Sometimes that means painting with broad stroaks, but that's hardly an indication of madness.

but pretty strong views were expressed about Dany so I thought it only fair to say that I (and others) find Jon Snow, fat Sam and his merry gang dull, annoying, and uninteresting - and donl;t get me started on Bran and his off to see the sparkly Elves party....
Re Dany and the Crucifiction of the Masters - the only person who said that one particular "Master" had spoken out against the children being Cruicfied was his son - no one else confirmed this and absolutely no Slaves came forward to protest that any of their oppresssors had been good and kind etc. Importantly She does not do it because its fun - she considers it just - rightly or wrongly...............
Also what the show does not show and the book does is the vengeance taking by the slaves - makes her gesture of anger and vengeance seem small in comparison.
Dany judged them and considered them guilty - thats pretty much how it works in her world - did you watch the Trial of Tyrion - not alot of due process there.
Dany and Sansa are actually IIRC supposed to be about the same age and make interesting contrasts.....
oh and yeah I do hate every Nolan film (all 3 of them) I have ever seen - like Jon Snow - overated and Overhyped rubbish.
Heavy handed" is putting it lightly. "Bloodthirsty" is more accurate.
Compared to who in her world? Would any of the other rulers hesitate to do the same (and likely more) If she was bloodthirsty - she would have enjoyed it - its obvious she didn't.

Agree though be cool to have seen it - would be a bit like the fight with the Cave Troll in LOTR

Dany = Hotty Hot hot!!

Sorry misread - but yeah I can like films but not everyone in it /them. I hate Ewoks too but liked the 3 Star Wars films. I didn't like the Dwarves in the new Hobbit films..... bt enjoyed them - especially Logolas and the hot Elf girl ..... I don't like lots of people in Walking Dead but like the show. Get rid of Rick and lets have more Daryl and Beth.
Dany is a major POV character - well she got shunted aside in recent books for new and unwanted characters ( IMO)
My firend is similar - we both find the Wall stuff very dull in the books and show....but she does like Jamie........girls do
Sansa (Sophie Turner) = Cute Hot
Margerary Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) = HOT HOT HOT!
Dany = She's ok
Natalie Emmanuel (Dany's handmaiden) HOT HOT HOT

bad things happen when you conquer people - I don't recall oh so honourable Ned Stark even saying anything about what happened to Oberyns sister and her children....then or later
The Boltons have a flayed man as their emblem and they are a noble House - no one seems really bothered about Ramsey's predilictions except his victims.
Dany was restrained by the standards of Slavers Bay and her world - remember that the poor innocent Masters cruicifed 150 odd children just to insult her and for a bit of a laugh.
How would she have had a fair trial - who would have judged the Masters fairly?
She got the inevitable bloodshed over and done with and moved on - as a Queen should do. Its only when she goes all weak and girly in the books that they walk all over her.

Actually that's not true. Ned was disgusted by it and spoke out against the Lannisters. He urged Robert not o trust the Lannisters and to arrest Twyin and remove Jaime from the Kings Guard ( for killing the Mad King) or but Jon Arryn over ruled him in the interests of national peace to avoid another war.
Ned was so offended that he immediately left the Capitol and Robert to continue the war. He relieved the siege of Storms End (the garrison was led by Stannis Baratheon). Then rode to Dorne to rescue his sister from the Tower of Joy but found her on her death bed. Then immediately returned to the north to bury her at winterfell.
Ned and Robert fell out so badly over the murder of Elia's children that they didn't speak for 10 years or so. Ned remained in the north, until Balon Greyjoy rebelled and attacked the Lannisters. Ned answered King Robert's summons to join the war and siege of Pyke.
And even then they didn't really reconcile. It was another 7 years or so until Jon Arryn died and Robert rode to Winerfel to name Ned as Hand of the King before they reconciled.
The Boltons have a flayed man as their emblem and they are a noble House - no one seems really bothered about Ramsey's predilictions except his victims.
Actually they are bothered. The Boltons are the most despised and least trusted Northern House. Most of the northern Houses treat theme as pariahs. And flaying was outlawed centuries ago. Robb Stark specifically forbids Roose Bolton from using flaying to torture prisoners of war.

Not sure if serious...
The whole point of the series, from day one is that Winter is Coming, not that Winter is here right now... The reason the wildlings are running is because Winter is Coming and they are ahead of it.
