It's absolutely beautiful.

Finally another movie to be excited for! I'm sure it'll be great.

I guess all the world building went over you head then.
I guess you don't know that world building has nothing to do with plot depth or characterization.

No, but it discredits your idea that the Mad Max movies are just mindless action with zero substance, considering how much effort they dedicate to showing a hostile and dangerous world.

Considering even ammo for small arms is fairly rare, where would they get a constant supply of ammo for such unusual weapons in the Mad Max universe?

But no noticeable shortage of petrol for flaming car explosions?

Did you see the DeathRace remake. Tell me the interceptor with even one 50cal wouldn't rock your socks?

Actual petrol is extremely valuable and sought after. Have you not seen any of the Mad Max films?

Different world, different context.

No, petrol doesn't blow up it just burns. It is the fumes in the nearly empty tanks that explode. Good thing gas is hard to come by, more exploding cars that way.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Seeing the Pursuit Special get trashed (again!) was disturbing. I had hoped to see more of it for the first time since its demise in MM2. If this film is actually in continuity and between 1 and 2 as they claim, I guess that means it somehow survives that crash?

Or maybe continuity isn't something to worry about, since it does seem to borrow from a number of the original films. Including having the actor that played Toecutter! Or is it Toecutter? Or is this another case of same actor, different character a la Bruce Spence's gyro captain and Jedediah the pilot?

This is before Beyond Thunderdome, but do we know if it is between 1 & 2 or 2 & 3?

It is supposed to be between films 1 & 2 in terms of timeline. Hugh Keys Byrne plays a different character even though he was Toecutter in film 1. It was never established whether the Gyro Captain and Jebediah the pilot were supposed to be the same character (although Max does make an oblique reference to knowing Jebediah)

It's also interesting to note that the Pursuit Special only has one of the big fuel tanks in the back. That could be an indication that Fury Road is indeed in full continuity between 1 and 2, and the car somehow survives (later getting the 2nd tank as seen in MM2).

But right now I'm leaning toward it being a "requel," loosely between 1 and 2, with soft continuity.

Has this got an actual release date now? It seems to have been lost in production hell for a while - I think they finished filming some time ago.

Went back fr extra reshoots etc etc IIRC.

Whole thing has been somewhat "troubled" , apparently.

but from that trailer, it just looks like micheal bay movie

Michael Bay didn't invent explosions in movies. If you haven't seen the previous films in the series how can you even begin to criticize this offering? Michael Bay's movies are glossy, with slick, pretty people doing ridiculous things. This certainly has ridiculous carnage, but the tone is clearly different than a stereotypical Bay movie and the people in this trailer look almost alien in their otherness. These are wasteland savages doing savage things in a hostile world--not a bloodless Pearl Harbor battle sequence or a slow motion running scene with Megan Fox. Hell, Charlize Theron, arguably one of the most attractive women in Hollywood, is sporting a shaved head and a jury-rigged prosthetic arm. If Bay were making this movie she'd be glammed out and, yes, running in slow motion. This is so far from Bay's signature work that your criticism is humorous in its ridiculousness.

Very much this. Explosion aren't "bad" necessarily: there is a world of difference between a Michael Bay film and, for example, Die Hard or Terminator 2. It's just when explosions overpower everything else, when you throw in unwatchable characters, stupid humour, blatant product placement, casual sexism and racism and so on, that it becomes unbearable. Not to mention that the action scenes in the Transformers movies are incomprehensible.

The trailers are making me think of Dredd. If it's nearly as good as that was, then I'll be absolutely overjoyed.

It looks positively insane, as a proper Mad Max movie should be.

And I'm not worried by the reshoots, etc. It'll all come together in the end, like the work of any insane genius.

No one gets beyond Thunderdome. Partially because Tina Turner won't allow it but also because this takes place before that story even happens chronologically.

The music in the new trailer is god awful, but I still can't wait to see this movie. I am growing concerned by the lack of dialogue in the trailers, I was at least expecting them to setup some kind of premise with the new trailer, but like the first one, max is barely n it. Hoping that wasn't the reason for the delays and re-shoots. Don't want it to turn into inglorius basterds and have its title characters barely make a cameo.
