Yeah, hit me up with some jerkbag judge thoughts.

I know where I consider mine to fall short, but it's good to get another perspective (I might have missed something).

And I've given out enough of my own "thoughts" in the past.

HA! The way I see it, Ramos wins!

The pink army always wins. You beat the pink army? Go ahead and brag about it. You lost to the pink army? Well, then....

Congratulations to Insaniak, Ramos and J-paint. Three very deserving winners, that's for sure.

Many thanks to Damo for running the comp, the judges for judging and the other entrants for making the judges lives hard by putting forth so many killer entries.

Ramos Asura wrote:One particular technique I absolutely loved was Snrub's harsh lighting + painted shadow. Never woulda though of doin somethin like that!
I'm honestly a little surprised that more people didn't do it. To me it seems like a style of painting that was made for a competition like this. Especially given that the Sin City subject matter. I was expecting every man and his dog to get in on the harsh lighting.
I look forward to seeing what someone of your skill could do with the technique though Ramos.

There is nothing to be ashamed of my friend. Who wouldn't want to snuggle up to that hunk of sexy nerdy man meat.

Definitely was a lot of fun. You don't realize how hard it is to only do a gray scale until you actually start doing it. Congrats on the winners. If anyone would like to PM me, I would love feedback on what to improve on as well. Thank you!

Got to say I loved snrub's piece. My second fave was the Dwight piece. Third was Camkhieri's Marv.

I also liked Insaniak's marine, which reminded me somewhat of the blue flowers theme sometimes used in Rogue Trooper, especially in the Prog 2000 Mercy Heights coda.

Would be nice for more frequent competitions

Could easily scratch the prize support from them and have the 1 big one each yea.

Constant competitions would give people something to work for all of the time.

To be fair, it's only a bronze one... and I won it as much for the novelty value of the rebuilt Aquila (I was the first to do that, as the 2003 Oz GD was only a couple of weeks after that set arrived in stores) as for the actual standard of the entry...

I do still take it out of the cabinet and pat it occasionally, though...

Oh... It's ok everyone. It was only a bronze one. We all have those lying around.

Your reconstructed Aquila was showcased in one of the local white dwarfs was it not? I'm pretty sure I remember seeing it in one of the old issues I've got lying around.

I'm not sure. I know there was a picture in the issue that had all of the GD winners. I also sent them a bunch of WIP pics showing the build process as they had mentioned an interest in possibly doing a feature on it, but so far as I know that never actually happened.

Good news, I finally finished. Yes, I realise this is way late for any consideration, but this is the first model that I have finished completely, and it was an interesting challenge - I wanted to share it!

Thanks for sharing KB! :-) I am really glad you showed us the finished result! your whites look great on the marine and are weathered really really nicely, it'd work beautifully on a White Scars army :-)
