Subject: LoER Terrain Contest: Round 12: Wall me up, fence me in
It's a good thig i only got a bits drop a little while ago. I'm thinking a sand bag wall with some nice dropped eqipment around it, maybe a couple purity seals on knives stabbed into the wall Gallipoli style. HISTORY LESSON: during the gallipoli suicidal charges which were ordered of the australian soldiersduring WW1, the later ones anyway, Australian soldiers would stab bibles, pictures of family and the like into the trench walls, as they knew they were going to die.

I really feel for you about the sandbag wall :/
and yes, gallipoli all in all were just suicidal.. even when they were at the back on "leave" they were still in firing range of the enemy..
and just a question.. have you ever heard of a swedish band called "Sabaton"? they have made a GREAT song about it.
this is the official music video
but since that one is in such bad quality.. here's a better version and with lyrics too
i really love this song. still gives me goose bumps every time. and it came out 2008.

Great work so far lads. I really like where your's is heading Camkierhi it looks like it has real weight to it.
OMG I really like that reclaimed e-waste terrain Gwaahr. It's o futuresque and hi tech, it makes me want to smash up some of my electronics but I'll have to resist till I can source some elsewhere.
Anyways, I've weathered up the posters some, added bullet holes and general cracks and wear to the walls. The idea with a thin layer of gap filler acting like a concrete/lime render has worked pretty well IMO. Where I drilled in I get 3 discrete layers of texture and colour.
I've started working on the base. I thought a brick wall would be near pavement or maybe a sidewalk so I cut out a bunch of hex pavers from cardboard and got my glue on...

so, I've scoured my bits box, used wood works to bevel (i know that's spell't wrong but I don't care) a few edges, and I've come up with all this bounty: see attached image.now all I have to do is hope i can get a delivery of green stuff so that i can make new sandbags. also the red peice needs to be shortened, and I need to do a sketch of how i want this thing to be. ahh design, the reson i chose wood works in the first place.

That song is amazing, thank you for the history lesson. That was pleasant and unexpected. (That you shared that... Not the subject matter but, you get what I mean.)
from now on all of my updates will be accompanied by a history lesson, we need to educate you Americans and other country-ans about the fine millitary of australia. the WW 1 part, anyway.

Gallipoli. We know... We saw the Mel Gibson movie.
Now, more interesting would be this, Kokoda Trail (WWII) ...
Long story short, MacArthur was an Giant D-Bag: Australian troops fought incredibly well. But that surprises no one, I hope.
My tournament is out of the way so I have some time to devote to my fences. Yay.
And here is the roughed out gate section. One of them anyway

Aaaaaand back to my other, original idea for this: balloon stick modular Tholian web:
The flight stands are from STAW, with half the normal stand height so that it doesn't interfere with play. Thus far, I have about 2ft of "web" to play with. It'll be sprayed black and repainted golds, I imagine, though I'll leave the stands clear. It's #1 son's birthday Friday, so I'm hoping to acquire more balloon sticks from unsuspecting locales.

I live! And I have a entry on the go, a set of sandbag walls with weapon emplacements. I have to say Super Sculpey is the nicest thing I have ever worked with, way better then GS and its cheaper (especially when you borrow it from someone )
No defensive line is complete without a few emplacements, right? The heavy bolters can be replaced with any Guard tripod heavy weapons, so you can use autocannons or lascannons if you want something a little more deadly...
And a few more pics for you to see, now I need to go paint that sucker.
So as you've only borrowed the super sculpy does that mean that at any moment you might find your defensive line has been reclaimed by the original owner

Good to see progress people
Well those walls don't really fit her style so I should be safe, besides I promised to lend out my knight on an as needed basis

Thanks, I love making terrain and I've wanted to do something like this for awhile now.

Forgive the blurry shoddy picture, my phone has been acting up lately. It used to take amazing pictures in my photobox.
Anyways, just a wip. So much work has to be done to the wall and mountain with foamcore. then I have to apply and sand spackle, and all of that is before I can even apply the true groundwork and textures, just to then prime it all. Also all the crates and spotlight bits need to be sculpted, and then cast in resin... The gun tower needs a huge banner off the cannon, and more sanding and cardstock work before I can cast it in resin too.
But, I'm not trying to be a real contest. I'd maybe try for people's choice. This is because I will be in Sweden in December so, alas I will have to submit it early or not at all, so that's why I am not fretting or worrying over prizes.
Realistically speaking, I'm in this for fun.

I am nervous... I leave for vacation to another country on the 4th. I secured more foam but... my bricks from SWM haven't arrived yet. I know I will either submit early or vastly late (January.) I guess it won't be shown with the other contenders but, at least it got me to start an amazing piece for my fortress board.

Very simple piece... repaired wall with an electric fence infront...
Quick pic's I put together in a couple of hours last night... so still very much wip!
Keeping it simple as to get it finished!!
IT WILL BE DONE!
ps...... some AWESOME work going on as is to be expected! Getting my excuses in early and saying I am not going for the win.... simply to compete and take part!
Stormwall - Hope you get those bricks soon. And hey, if circumstances conspire to prevent your timely entry then as you say, at least you've been motivated to get some terrain done
tsl - Sorry to hear that dude, but you got to stay on the right side of your amigos. Hopefully just the sword and no people were damaged in the incident?
Magos - counted in you are!
I make it about 4 weeks, 4 days and 4 hours to go (well, 3 hours to be accurate but hey, 4 scanned better ) Still oodles of time to put together some kind of fency-wally type stuff.......
