i loathe being sick. i haven't tasted food since the second week of december... and feeling achy and not being able to breathe didn't make for a remarkable work environment in regards to finishing the project for the last competition. then the computer apparently had a massive heart attack...just now getting back online.

12 weeks should be plenty of time to complete something...assuming i get some kind of inspiration relatively soon.

i'll tell you, it's good to be back.

oh magos...I can see this could be a good structure to begin with...

and to show that I am too thinking about what to enter...

My initial thought is to head back into orksville for this one, as it seems to offer plentiful scenarios for such a theme...but as nothing immediately comes to mind, I'm going to sit on it for a while to see what other nefarious plans I can come up with.

It seems to make sense, but just want to clarify. If it's a diorama then any 'playable models' should be removable. If it's a pure diorama with no models that are intended to be playable, then they can be fixed.

I'm starting to think the DarkForges of the rogue mechanicum could be a very dangerous place...potential for lots of interesting accidents there

Still working out ideas but I'll probably be going for either a Hellcannon/Daemon Engine misfire or a summoning ritual mishap. Orks, Skaven and Chaos seem to have plenty of potential for this.

I think I can come up with something dead and ruined in the trenches... Count me in. With the three months time even I should have no excuses even with my moving to a new place of residence at the end of this month.

I have an idea. I'm not sure if it meets the rules or not... but I'll give it a go anyway.

The minimum 10cm*10cm will be much easier to achieve and store, though I'll probably still go with something similar to my original concept just not as utterly massive (which is good 'cos I have allocated zero funds for modelling for the next X months, with the exception that I'm allowed to buy a toy car/truck for conversion to ash wastes vehicle from an Op-Shop, and I was struggling to figure out exactly how to build my monstrosity)

Lots of good ideas flowing in this thread already...I feel like maybe I'll delve into Warhammer Fantasy territory here...perhaps clan Skryre has recently been working on something suitably destructive and quite unstable...

I would assume the unit filler would count as long as it met the 10cm size and was an accident of some kind.

Ooh, an Empire cannon failing could be an interesting thing to model... Lots of shrapnel!

failing to finish my own projects and being publicly shamed is almost standard for me among my gaming group, so that`s fine XD

crap, I didn't pay attention to the minimum size. a 10cm unit filler would probably be bigger than the unit itself, unless 10cm² counts and that's still pushing it a lot.

Looks good, a bit ...um.....rough.

I would try :

Thin down some filler and "mortar" in it up. Another words, "pointing". Spatula it on and wait a bit and rub it down with a cloth so you can see the Rocks pointing through.

Second would be paint it in PVA and cover itin sand, and again let it set up a little and then rub it to expose the rock.

Another words fil the cracks. It will end up very heavy!

I love the look of it though.

Yep, I'm with Cam - looks good, but needs pointing. Interesting idea, I do like it, and will have the advantage of being able to use it as a bludgeoning weapon once done, going to be pretty hefty weight

Also amusing in that things are going wrong with the construction of it.

Decided I'm going for the Summoning Ritual idea. I'll try to get some initial plans up during the week.

Going to be some really cool pieces I can tell already! However I have hit a wall in both terms of inspiration and planning.... gggrrr... anyway... plenty of time to get back on track... but for now.... more World of Tanks!

Still undecided - but at the moment it's either a terrain piece comprising of crashed ork rocket ship, or a diorama showing the creation of a daemon engine going horribly wrong.

Of course, as I only have rough plans for both of those ideas at present it could well turn out to be something else entirly
