Anyways, I finally saw the episode last night and it was really good. I'm so happy we are answering questions and passing the books.

My money is on shireen or stannis, they said a major character would be dying.

Either those two, Jon, Roose, or Ramsay.

Though Brienne has done nothing but stare at Winterfell for a few seconds over the last few episodes...

And of course, we'll get the meet the ever-handsome Robert Strong.

And eventually, probably the Night's King in some sort of cop out where his death dispels all the wights.

The words lady stoneheart crossed my mind before I got sad that she wouldn't be included.

Well episode eight has almost made up for a lacklustre season so far. Hoping to see stannis lay siege to winterfell in the next two episodes.
Don't really care want happens in dorn / kings landing at this point, those two story arcs just aren't doing it for me.

So on top of Papa Tarly being cast for next season, it looks like Euron Greyjoy has too. I guess season 6 will just be all the madcap schemes from the Dornish master plan to the long night?

Also, GRRM came out and said he wouldn't be writing any scripts for season 6. Not sure if that's good or bad (also wasn't aware he had worked too much with season 5).

EDIT: I also suspect that if they draw out Kevan Lannister and his small council into the next seson, that's probably where we will see Randyll Tarly. I just want to see some Varys-Kevan interraction.

I'm pretty sure Cersei's walk of shame has been confirmed. There was some humbug about it because all the churches in the area of the scene it would take place. They allowed it as long as she didn't step inside a church naked.

I'm interested to know how Euron is going to fit in the season. His brother Victarion is headed towards Dany, lot of assumptions is that the ironborn fleet will serve as the much needed transportation for Danny's army. Whether or not Victarion and the other ironborn live to return with them is another story.

Last season, Daario said he capture 96 ships (IIRC). Seems like in the show Dany has her navy set?

Wonder what role Euron has to offer and possibly Victarion (if he is mentioned at all next season)? Would they stay the course or change things up? Bring her the dragon horn?

Would the Ironborn's culture of the old way rub Dany the wrong way?

Stannis is not confirmed dead in the books - I'm pretty sure he isn't and that Ramsay is just trying to goad Jon and his enemies in the North in to making rash moves and bad decisions.

So, there's 'hope' yet!

That's one of the great things about the TV series - it cleans up a lot of the mess GRRM has made of the book series, and... we're actually going to see where it all goes and where it all ends up - LONG before GRRM ever gets there.

Yeah, at this point I enjoy the series more than the books. First three books? Ace. 4 and 5? Ugh.

You are showing a flicker of HOPE there. I wrote him off quite a bit ago and now waiting on the next installment of the Iron Druid

Yeah, I decided when the show started that that was the last book I'd see before the series ended. In all likelihood he won't be around to write more than the current one he's working on. Considering the 5 books of the series has now taken around 18-20 years I just don't expect him to finish it and I'm super glad HBO is going to

And yeah, Iron Druid and Harry Dresden are what I'm currently waiting for

Also watched the episode last night. while I liked the scene beyond the wall Dany & Tyrion straight up stole the show.

I'm confident that GRRM wll get Book 6 (Winds of Winter?) out before HBO's GoT finishes.

I was reading yesterday that he is intending to have it out by the start of season 6. Whether he can hold to that, we'll see. It would be awesome though.

Agreed - great dalogue

I am not even sure I want GRM to actually write any more SOIF.............just get someone to adapt the show notes IMO, best all round.

Bit like I loved Hitchhikers but felt the books declined as it went on............

As long as we don't get a fairy tale ending or that "ideal" ending some of the show watchers want, I''m happy.

Since the show is pretty much guaranteed to end first, will the show's end be the same as the book?

Now I can see the riots of a character getting killed on the TV series and everyone blaming GRRM and not HBO

Fairly certain.

GRRM met with the HBO folks and gave them the general outline, 'just in case'.

He gets REALLY upset when asked "Will you finish before you die?!?" and has already said that he refuses to let anyone else finish the series if he does actually die first...

I'm aware of GRRM communication with D and D, just wondering if they agreed it should end the same way or not?

HBO contract end after 7 seasons. HBO said they would like to make it a 10 season series. Not surprised since GoT passed what they called the "sopranos Gold standard". Sopranos being the most watched and sold series at the time for HBO, now GoT has that honor.

If those extra seasons do happen, I wonder if they will sit with GRRM and discuss what important filler needs to be done? or will they just cover the important aspects and make up a lot more filler?

Has there been any more talks about GoT headed to the silver screen? if it does, hope it involves Robert's rebellion or the Greyjoy rebellion and not the mainline series.

I could see them doing a trilogy for Robert's rebellion. 1st - backstory and cause leading to the opening moments of war. 2nd - meaty part of the war, politicking and Tywinn waiting around 3rd - end of war conclusion

I think it's good. Less time writing scripts means more time writing books. Assuming that's how he's making use of his time.

But I actually think that the show catching up to the books may have lit a fire under his ample posterior. Who'd really want other writers finishing your story? That'll probably happen anyway, but getting TWOW out before season 6 would at least be a minor victory for GRRM.
