Nothing too weird here, except for me taking my power armour everywhere I go:

Spoiler:

That was one class presentation they'll never forget! I couldn't have have placed my suit there better.

I love that part of that area

The Advanced power armor (X-01 or whatever it is now) looks silly with that paint job. I have the military paint on mine. Have not found a way to get the Atom Cats paint for it.

Gotta love those naive security guards there. I go everywhere in power armour (because I'm a sensible traveller!) and whenever one of them quips something along the lines of "That Pip-boy better be yours, or else boy", I can't help but wonder what they'd do against me, towering over them and toting a minigun.

This. Seems like everything uses adhesives.

But I love the new emphasis on scavenging. Similarly, I think having radiation eat into your health is a big improvement. These developments really help the post-apoc feel. FO3 underused them.

Ammo has become a problem for me too. I'm using .44, .45, 5.56, 12 Gauge, Fusion Cell and Plasma.

I'm thinking of keeping a tricked out Pipe Rifle around just to use the more common .38 ammo, so at least I have something to shoot...

As far as Energy Weapons go...do the introductory Brotherhood of Steel quest. I won't spoil it, but You get ambushed by a horde of energy weapon wielding enemies. I went from zero Fusion Cells to 500 in one mission. You also get as a reward a (legendary?) named Laser Rifle, Righteous Authority, which charges up Critical Hits fasterand does more Critical damage. I pimped it out, and reserve it for fighting tough bosses.

To get the mission, head south east from Corvega Assembly Plant and you'll pick up a distress call radio channel.

I've also got a pumped out heavy pipe rifle which I use for low lvl mobs.
And a pumped out 10mm pistol (the very first gun actually, from Vault 111) which I'm turning into a high DAM hand cannon.
And I now have a barbed wire baseball bat. I'm going to call her Lucille.
I was using a short double barrel shotgun, which I've finally converted into a sawn off shotgun, and then I found a combat shotgun...
I've just created a hunting rifle sniper rifle.

Scrounger was the very first Perk I bought. But ammo can still be a problem. I am also thinking of souping up some kind of gun that fires .38s.

I'm running out of 12 Gauge faster than I had thought possible. There's this exploding rounds combat shotgun that I think can be considered the god gun for the game. Puts out incredible damage. Tore apart a Deathclaw in five shots. A sentry bot in ten.

I can't for the life of me find pencils for a lead coating on my armor... I'm ignoring the missions and searching for schools just to find some friggin lead. And plundering diners for their coffee mugs and ceramic. I'm worried about the 100+ hour game though because of it. Resources will just cease to exist if I try to 100% the game. I'm hoarding even harder because of that. I have a surplus of about twenty laser weapons just in case I need parts or caps later on...

Pencils contain lead or lead armor?

I'm a gamer and a warhammer player. The gym is the LAST place I want to go.

Actually, I haven't come across a gym yet. I bought a weight so I figured they exist, just haven't found it.

Penicils contain lead, 4 lead is needed for the lead lining in a T-51 part. I figure I draw on the inside of the armor cause I can't figure out another way for four pencils to coat power armor in anti radiation...

Well the Fallout universe is basically stuck in the 1950's culture for two centuries...They have nuclear powered cars, soda drinks with glowing radioactive material as additives, and radioactive children's toys. I doubt they're concerned about the health hazards of lead pencils.

I'm loving my 48 damage 10mm at the moment, silencer and pimped to the balls, one shoting a hell of a lot of stuff from sneak, enjoying stealthing the game so far, and a sniper rifle with silencer is amazing for picking off those legendary creatures.

Quest spoiler...

Spoiler:
Brotherhood of Steel is dope as feth in this game. Signed up with no regrets. Got my T-60 Brotherhood Power Armor over a full set of Brotherhood Combat Armor, toting about 8 pimped out gats including Righteous Authority, Minigun and a Fat Man. Kneel before your technophile overlords!

Area spoiler...

Spoiler:
I'm blown away with Bethesda's portrayal of the Glowing Sea. Holy gak it's scary opressive. Feels like hell itself. Also the Children of Atom in the middle of the crater really surprised me. Awesome!

I got to play for about an hour last night - with an adorable and very sexy vulture watching me, and tensing up every danged time she recognized an area that I was going into.... I kind of used her as an early warning system.... (Hmm, Megan is smiling... there must be ghouls in that building....)

The Auld Grump - Megan, on the other hand, already has sixteen hours logged on it.....

Yeah, about that ...

Spoiler:

It's funny because it's true If before I used to search around for loot in F3, in here, I'm always looking for loot AND hoarding all kinds of random crap . Poor Dogmeat is being such a packmule, the poor guy is carrying pieces of power armor AND A FATMAN I got from the raiders at the car factory.

EDIT: And what was in the chest near the boss at said factory? An Hunting Rifle. HELL. YES. Now this was some fat loot!

The legendary mutation thing is annoying. I just ran into a whole pack of super mutants, 2 of which were legendary. I killed them all and one of the legendaries and got the other one down to about 10% (using most of my ammo in the process) and the utter git mutates back to full health forcing me to pull out an emergency rocket launcher (heh). All he dropped was a crappy pipe rifle as well.

I just discovered a rather interesting meat packing plant (and not in the usual 'surprise' way).

I'd imagine it's rather interesting depending on where they pack the meat.

Disappointed. You can't even get to the attic...

Are some of the Factions mutually exclusive? I did the first BoS quest at the police station but declined the offer to join up as I don't want to lock myself out of other Factions (Minutemen and The Railroad).

I don't think so. I've progressed far in the BOS and Minutemen and have the first Railroad mission queued up for sometime soon. I feel like there SHOULD be a restriction but if there is, I've snuck around it or haven't gotten to it yet.

No, unless you really feth it up, you can switch factions pretty easy (if it says "you're now an enemy of X" is the no return)

I know, because I swapped from the BoS to the Institute right at the end.

Spoiler:
Mostly because I really liked Danse, but the BoS exiled him, meaning I couldn't have him as a companion AND do the BoS faction stuff, because they'd shoot at him.
Spoiler:
All because he's a synth

(tried to separate as many plot spoilers big or small out there)

Preston Garvey was with me when I visited the Police Station and received the offer to join the BOS, but I declined because he started complaining about my "responsibility to lead the Minutemen".
