Ah c'mon! What other mini in the whole range has a rocking set of speakers on its right arm?

So what you are saying is that the Tau accidentally worship Slaanesh?

I am afraid that i want the new models, allthough i already have a huge Tay army. I like what i see.

I even like the Stormsurge, but i also would rather have one with arms. If this one topples over, he has no way to get up.
At least for that it would need arms. Without arms it also could just as well have been a vehicle.

And i very much hope that my Kroot and Vespid will still be in the codex, just as the drones and sniper drones. Big suits are not the reason i play Tau. Drones are.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

And i for one do not expect a lot of new models. That is not GW's MO at all. New warriors, big suit and medium suit is about right.
New fire warriors will probably have new weapon options, that always sells.

Crisis suits and Stealth suits will probably get formations for them to sell and there is no reason to drop Kroot or Vespid as long as people like them. Give them a formation and they sell.

I hope drones will get some attention as well, allthough i still seem to be the only player with a drone themed army.

The new Fire Warriors all look to have Carbines. Whats the bet that GW makes carbines 3x better than Rifles to make every Tau player's existing models redundant ?

I'll bet you a box of Electro Priests or Mutilators.

I used 50/50 carbines and rifles anyway and always preferred the carbine, especially since it is assault 2 18".

Edit: wow, I forgot I just said that

Maybe they fire like Robotech/Macross missiles, where they all fire at the same time in different directions, none of them can ever go in an arc or straight line, but somehow always hit their targets

Also: Rogue Trader Terminators want their Cyclones back! Anyone remember how awesome those were?

I'm holding out for the newer infantry models... Tau don't need new big suits, and whilst they've been shown off, I can't help but hold on for new crisis models and new fire-warriors

The Stormsurge is growing on me... I wonder if it'll come in an entirely new kit or they'll release it in a newer riptide kit? If the latter is the case I'd be happy to model those pods on the shoulders and let it carry that railgun like the Broadsides do.

On the topic of conversions... I have a spare riptide leg lying around at home (no idea where from mind) but I'd have to give the Stormsurge a tripod if those legs are posable. just to make it look like it's not as top-heavy.

We see the new infantry in the pictures AND the new XV8. I think it's almost guaranteed we'll get both baring some cataclysmic warehouse disaster and simultaneous sabotage of their computers.

I like them.

The big guy is what I've always envisioned Tau should have anyway. It's not a Titan or a knight equivalent, it's literally a MASSIVE mobile walker weapons platform. It suits in my mind, Tau wouldn't really have static defences to me, they would be mobile, if you look at it like it's a huge mobile turret with legs, it works perfectly. Then again, I love the even more anime-inspired met the Tau have been getting.

Whatever anyone says, it does make them stand out from the crowd on the 40k tabletop.

I could see carbines becoming 24" which would give them a huge benefit for Devilfish Fire Warrior squads. More likely they will have some special wargear option for Fire Warriors that is uber good but only 1-2 weapons per box.

That's exactly what I plan to do. I've been wanting a missile-spam Riptide for a long time, but I never got around to figuring out a conversion. This will definitely do.

I'm really not sure how I feel about the Ghostkeel. It might be better if that odd head was fixed and flush with the rest of it, like a Stealth Suit.

@alleus - yes, this is exactly the firing pattern I was thinking of

Because the best way to hit 80 targets is to aim your missiles like a porcupine's spikes and then make them go in as many random directions as possible until they're nearly out of fuel before they home in on the enemy!

Man, all this Tau talk is making me miss Macross/Robotech Will have to pull them out again... I have them on DVD!

I've always loved SOME Tau models a lot, and hated others nearly as much :X

The flyers incoming look really, really nice.

People will just play their rifles as carbines then. And nobody will care. At least I won't. When tyranid spinefists became redundant and termagants got devourers as the hot thing I suddenly found myself with 40 useless termagants. People just let me play with them as fleshborers and nobody cared. I ain't gonna care about fire warriors either. Because screw GW, that's why.

Yep. Some of my friends use pennies and paper as proxies for godsakes. I doubt that would stop them. Hahaha. As a matter of face I have minis all the time that have certain gear and I'll just let everyone know whats on it for that army right up. So modeled with plasma but my army list has them with fusion for example.

I also thought of the Robotech weapon platform warhammer/excalibur. And the visual is perfect indeed.

I even played a warhammer/excalibur mechanic/pilot in the Robotech RolePlaying Game back then.

2 particle beam cannon arms and shoot missiles in all directions (just because that looks SOOoo impressive ;-)

So this Tau model will, in my version, must have arms and carry the big gun on the arm.

It will definitely be a new kit. The storm surge is going to be a much larger suit than the riptide is. If you look closely the waist has additional details not present on the Riptide chassis, and it's not possible to add that detail to the riptide.

And i love the Ghostkeel.
I hope it is a sign that my Stealth teams can make a return to the table together with Shadowsun.

Way more interesting to play then Crisis Suit bombs or Riptide swarms.

I will still aim for an infantry list with bigger suits as support or flavour only.

To me it looks like a failed attempt of doing a Tau Metal Gear Rex, but instead it looks chubby and stupid, like some giant pile of thurd...

A SHame, a real shame..., the other variant looks cool though and the new Warriors looks nice, but they will die just as easely as before anyway.

This new Tau mech conquered my heart <3 oh, such a delicious beautie! I hope it spreads death and destruction upon Tau's enemies (and this from a SM fanboy)
