Thank you for the comments, all!

'Tis a Dire Cabbage, Cap'n. One of Reaper's little gems.

gobert, it's a little bit of Future (any acrylic gloss would work) applied after vanishing is done.

Ezki, yeah, practice, practice, then practice some more. I feel like I was really in a good place drawing between 2016 and 2019. Then stuff happened/changed and I pretty much stopped. It will feel a lot like starting over when I start again. Which I will inevitably do. I hope.

Since I am posting, I may as well throw another pic in here. This one is at least gaming related. Pretty sure people get that I am a Fett man. When he was released in Destiny I went ahead and took an old drawing (2014 or so) and digitally painted it before running it through a custom card creator.

Thanks for looking!

Wow the dragon girl is amazing!! And Boba is great too.
What do you use to varnish your models? I've been scared to take the plunge as I've heard so many horror stories of people finishing of a model and then applying varnish for it to frost on them

Thanks, zahnib!

First I hit the model with gloss, currently Krylon Colormax crystal clear. Then I go with a flat, currently Krylon Matte, the artists one. I used to swear by Testors dullcote, but the last batch I bought gave me frost, big time. For the flat, to avoid frosting, I do two light coats, waiting about an hour between. I wait a day between gloss and flat, so the flat doesn't just sink into the gloss. Not sure how the pros do it, but that's how I do it.

A quick note on frosting, if you do happen to have it happen, another light coat of gloss can go a long way towards fixing it. I usually try to keep this rule in mind for all things paint-related: it's very easy to put more paint on, much harder to get paint off. So, light coats.

Awesome, thank you for the detailed reply! What is the advantage of applying the initial gloss coats before the final matte? Extra protection or does it provide a nicer finish? And that trick with the gloss if frosting does occur is really good to know, thank you

I've been considering going the airbrush route as that seems to eliminate the chance of frosting but haven't bitten the bullet yet on that one, rattle cans seem like the easy option.

Dire Cabbage is awesome, though I feel like it should be a St.Patricks day special figure...who knows, I might have to track one down as it scratches the need of a silly but fun project.

Your drawing skills are top notch The warrior women are excellent, gives me a good old D&D vibe from my youth. Boba Fett looks on point as well, easily looks like something I could have gotten out of a card pack and Ben excited about.

Mmmmm...with a corned beef golem for added tastiness.

Thank you for the kind words, Theo.

zahnib, the general rule is gloss for protection, matte for appearance. There are all sorts of products out there now, and one may get both bases covered, but I wouldn't know which one to suggest.

That Fett card looks like a legit offering! Great skills, capturing the classic Fett look. I trust your enjoying his book on Disney+?

Love that cabbage (a sentence not often uttered on tabletop gaming forums)...

Very cool to see you drawings, if you've told me that gaming card is official, I wouldn't have doubted it a second

Thanks, you two. Glad you like it. Mind that I only did the art. The template was online and I just plugged my picture into it. And edited the flavor text.

New Marine build. An Emperor's champ converted from the Indomitus Chaplain. I bought him for his gun, and as it turned out, his chest, but the rest of the model inspired me to make this. I have started thinking of it as a glorified objective marker. The lone warrior having rescued the Sororita in distress striking his best Frazetta pose. Base will be tiered/built up.

And another drawing for fun. Belit.

Spoiler:

And and, we discovered this morning that if you don't put enough batter I the Star Wars pancake maker, you get a Space Marine instead of Darth Vader.

Emperor's champion looks great, the slightly tilted down head really suggests he's posing for effect But I have to take a bit of umbrage, because as we all know Sisters of Battle don't need saving Must've been an imposter he saved

Where's the babe on your Champion from? As for your drawing, you're definitely no slouch when it comes to drawing the ladies.

With the babe on his base, I thought he might be an Emperor’s Children, and not Emperor’s Champion. Looking good

Is that the prisoner from Vect’s Dias that’s picking the lock on her handcuffs? Self-rescuing. It’s been forever since that kit was out, Don’t know if I ever saw it in the flesh.

Thank you!

It is one of Vect's ladies. At Games Day 2000 (merciful Zeus, that was 22 years ago) they were selling packs with just the girls, so I bought a few. This is the last of those, but I also have an unopened Vect that I picked up at a swap meet and have no intention of building as-is, so there's still gas in that tank.

Viterbi, maybe she's a Sister Infiltrata in need of extraction?

Cool mods on the champion, will he be a Templar or join your custom chapter?

Happy result in the pancake too!

Wow, is that rescued Sororita from the legendary Asdrubael Vect kit? Anyway, nice work on the model so far.

Very cool drawing too! You really tempt me to grab a pen.

Ah I see, makes sense! Thank you, that’s been really helpful

Emperor’s Champion is looking good ad is your old art! You're a whizz at drawing figures, are you self taight or did you go to school for it?

gobert, odds are he will be one of our boys, but in traditional black so really it only matters for the shoulder pads.

zahnib, I majored in art, mostly self-taught up until that point, couple classes in high school, but it has always been an ongoing learning process, even 20 years after graduating. Also keep in mind that for every picture I share, there's a heaping helping of hot garbage stinking up the sketchbook.

Ezki, it's always a good time to start!

Love the Emperors Champion. He might have freed her, but he will have to kill her because she has been touched by chaos.

Nice skull.

Once we get the full scope of the Eldar releases I need to do some triage. What do I need right NOW, what can wait, and what I can pass on. Big guy needs to be mine at some point, the question is just when.

Thanks, Nev. I get that a lot.

My situation is far simpler than yours. I only need to pick up the Avatar and Maugan Ra. And maybe decide if I want a few Reaper launcher bits for conversion purposes.

Maugan Ra is kind of a miss for me. He looks too light compared to his old version and the splits on the rock formation and cloak are a departure, but still a decent model. Still undecided on the alt heads on the Avatar

At first I though your Octoskull was an Achu-skull, then i realized it was tentacles and not a really bad sneeze . Excellent work.

Hmmmmm...

Well, that's something. I feel as if it is cut from the same cloth as Book of Boba Fett. That is to say, equal parts awesome and stupid. Seeing as how (pretty sure you all know by now) MR is my fave Phoenix Lord, I will still be looking to pick it up, but there will probably be modifications. Honestly a little crestfallen. I wanted my doors blown off, and this is just sort of rustling my skirt.

Looks like he is ready to rock the Eye of Terror on the Altansar comeback tour.

Here's Rogue, to put a little sugah on the saltiness.

Very nice sketch.

I think a head swap would help the big guy. Also take the backpack down a notch, but that would be a lot harder to do.

Thanks, Nev!

I think just pulling the ribcage segment out of the pole could help a lot. Of greater concern is what it will take to get the legs re-posed. Thankfully, a lot of that can be covered by the coat.
