Quite the impressive 2024, and a great looking boat to start '25!

Agreed, January sucks! Still, the Black Ark looks amazing. It was one of the few Man O’War minis that had me tempted and you’ve done it justice with the painting

Happy Birthday!

Thank you all, very much, for the comments, compliments and bday wishes.

Decided on a mini for February Surprise. Tanya Shadowbane from Limbo Division. 75 mm resin. She's a little bit old, now. Limbo Division seems to be moving along at a steady pace with new releases, and there are even hints at a game. Let's see how this goes.

Always plenty to do. Thanks for looking!

Thanks, aku!

There's no way in sunny heaven I am getting Tanya done this month. Way too much happening and not enough month to play with. So, I'll try to paint this gal, instead:

Kingdom Death Sunstalker Dancer. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for looking!

I've followed Kingdom Death minis on and off for years, they have some interesting things.
Back before there was a game, the artist's miniature were a lot more intense, if that's the word fro it.
I don't think you can get the old minis anymore. I wonder if it's even the same artist now?

She looks like a much simpler mini to assemble and paint (she's already put together, it looks to me).

Waaazag da Kan't Stoppable (ORKS) ~6,000 points
Orks-in-Progress, Finished Orks.
Terrain I'm making.
The Darion Sector War Campaign.

Appreciate the comments.

KD minis can still be pretty intense. I mean, they haven't done a Wet Nurse for a while, but Google the Oblivion Mosquito when you aren't at work.

She's been assembled and primed for years, so that's a plus, Warboss. And a lot smaller. Almost all skin. Way simpler.

Joining the chorus of praising the Black Ark!
Great work on the sails especially. Got my vote on the challenge!

Looking forward to the KDM and Limbo Division minis. Always interesting to see how you tackle them!

Many KDM minis - especially the pinups - are based on artworks from various artists, which are then sculpted by different sculptors.
Most of the sculpting is done by the "Team Death", but there are many others as well.
Here's a list if you are interested: https://kdm-collector.com/artists

Sorry for the slight off topic haha.

That's the thing about the backlog-- whatever you set aside will be waiting for you when you come back to it.

The murder dancer is a pretty neat model, and quite tame compared to some of the KD models I've seen. I look forward to seeing what you do with her.

Now showing Catachan Jungle Fighters and World War zombies!

Painting total as of 30th November 2025: 136 plus a Deva King statue

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

Thanks, JoshInJapan, Ezki!

Yeah, the backlog is always there. Waiting.

Got my printer up and running again, so I was motivated to get back to the Tau.

HATE the burst cannons. So fragile. Glad they're only on this one squad. Printing the rest of the parts for six more suits, three with plasma, three fusion. Then probably some drones. Or a tank. Also picking away at the challenge mini, but not worth showing.

Thanks for looking!

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Based and on the shelf with the rest. Just like that, two units of battlesuits. Definitely nice to feel a bit of momentum, again.

Thanks, Olthannon!

Finished the Sunstalker Dancer.

Fairly happy with the results. Just needs varnish and the base painted. Glad to have finished.
I think that is two years, now, that I have had an entry each month. Need to decide if I will be making participating every month in this challenge cycle a goal, or if I will be picking and choosing this year.

Thanks for looking!

She turned out quite well. Your work on skin recently, and you have been painting a lot of skin recently, has been really nice. Very painterly, with a lot of non-fleshtones in the mix.

Great work on the sunstalker. Looks like she’s got some rosy cheeks

Thanks, JoshInJapan, Tommygun1918 and gobert! Glad the skin reads as intended. I was thinking a lot about 2D painting while I was working g. Frazetta, Jones, painters that would let a brush stroke show, not super slick and polished, but evocative and loose, with lots of color.

And yes, the blush on the cheeks is a little pronounced, gobert.

Cross-posting the year-end roundup for the monthly challenge. My offerings:

March: Sicaran

April: Cammy

May: Star Eagles prototypes

June: Judges Dredd

July: Mandalorians

August: Necromunda Pit Slaves

September: Fett and Co.

October: The Watcher

November: Elric

December: Eldar gals

January: Black Ark

February: Sunstalker Dancer

Summer Blockbuster: Twin Wraithknights

So, that's what I painted. A mixed bag, for sure. Some good sized models in there. Not too many podium finishes this year, but, I am pretty happy with most of it. Low points would be the spaceships and Mandos, I think. High points for me are Fett, Dancer, Eldar ladies and Wraithknights.

Thanks for looking!
