Hmmm... I'm not sold on Mordo, I 1st saw him in the Marvel animated Doctor Strange movie, where he was voiced by Kevin Micheal Richardson. The voice made the villain for me, and I doubt this guy can preform as well as Richardson.

I am not sure how to read that....

Are you saying you thought all along he was not a caucasian man...and instead....some other color?

This is from the 1st series in 1968...then one from 1980....seems pretty caucasian to me.

However...later artists did seem to give him a little more tan appearance.

And I think his animated movie made him perhaps a little more tan in appearance as well.

I still feel he is a caucasion, though.

Spoiler:

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I am sure it depends on the artist, of course

He's always been white, it was just a product of the 60's having him drawn like that to make him seem more "Mystical"

I must say, this is the the most excited I've been for a comic book movie, Dr Strange is my favorite Marvel character

And the trailer:

Looks pretty psychedelic, which is probably a good thing given the character. Definitely a departure from 'traditional' Marvel style, which should make this one very interesting

Month/Day/Year just doesn't make any sense. Either ascending or descending, but don't mix it like that!

Clicked through the trailer without sound, doesn't do much for me. The spectral form looks really bad.
So this is an origin story? I'm sick of these, just jump into it!

I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that we use day-month-year in speech.

So this is an origin story? I'm sick of these, just jump into it!
I would imagine that they're going to need some sort of origin story because, let's be honest, Doctor Strange is not a mainstream comic book character or well known to non-comic readers.

I thought that the trailer for this looked really great. I'm definitely looking forward to this one, and in particular to seeing how such a trippy film will fit into the thus-far Science Fiction tone of the MCU.

Also, they need to introduce not just the character, but "why is there a fething wizard in my Avengers movies?" This looks good, so far. Of the Marvel movies so far, I knew nothing about Thor, Ant-Man, The Guardians of the Galaxy or Doctor Strange. So far, I've been pleasantly surprise, even if Thor's "own" movies have been the weakest.

Since the current comic book launched, I've been wondering if they were pre-emptively lining it up with the movie. There's a lot more humor in his book right now than I can ever remember. And a lot of Burton-y, Beetlejuice-y imagery from Bachalo. It seemed like it'd fit the MCU.

But yeah...the trailer seems...different.

The extent of my knowledge of Dr. Strange comes from Man-Thing, so I'm with you there.

It seems like it might be an interesting movie to watch, if just for the spectacle of it.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Not being a fan of the comics, did they have the same "grumpy atheistic scientist-standin having eyes opened by mystical priest-standin to generic superstition/religion-standin being real, haha scienz are dum" undertone going on, or is that just the usual Hippy Dippy Patrol that seemingly pervade American TV and film writing having their say again?

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

...?

Anyway, I want to like this movie as I love the character and the potential to get really weird within the MU and now that I've seen the trailer...

...I think I will like this movie, and quite a bit!

I do hope we get a proper Dormammu though!

(And who is the main villain, actually?!?)

I hope for at least a cameo from Eternity too.

Now if only Steve Ditko would have been tabbed to consult on art direction!

If you get a chamce to watch the Doctor Strange animated movie, it does an alright job with his history and learning to become the sorceror supreme (that training was a little rushed, but what can you do within 2 hrs, obviously). Introduces Mordo and Dormammu..two of his recurring foes.

Yeah, I think the animated movie was worth a Netflix watch, not the worst Superhero movie I have seen.

I hadn't realized that Dr. Strange was literally a doctor until i watched it.

Plus it's storytelling 101 that you introduce characters and setting, then problem, rising action, climax, falling action, conclusion, the ancient Greeks have been doing this for years.

Yup, world-class neurosurgeon, whose his hands were damaged so he can't continue to do literal brain surgery. Woe is him. Fortunately, his previous job paid pretty well, allowing him to travel the real world when his personal world came crashing down. It's nice to have been a multi-millionaire before you take that big trip to "find yourself"...
