When will the league points reset? Basically I haven't entered anything before but wanted to start doing it. Wont I just be far behind on points? (not that they matter I get that, but for personal glory!)

The League will reset after this month's challenge, March's round will basically be 'Round 1' of the new rotation (internal jury's still out on whether I'm restarting the numbering, or keeping it running. Probably the latter) and everyone will start on 0 points again, ready for Januine to trounce us all over again.

I'm also looking at restructuring the scoring system a little for the next round; when all this started, I decided only to give extra points out to the top 3 entrants as I was expecting maybe a dozen entries per month at the most. With how the challenge has exploded right from the off and we routinely get 30+ entries, I think it's possible that there are a fair few people each month that miss out on points despite having a clear lead over the rest of the field. While only 3 gets the bonus, there are usually 6-8 or so painters that get a large portion of the votes, and I think that going into the new rotation, things might be altered a little to better reward them.

Still not sure how I'll go about introducing this yet. Maybe 15 for 1st, 12 for second, 10 for 3rd, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 for the remainder of the top 10? Alternatively, I guess something could be done tracking the exact number of votes for everyone from month to month, but that's a lot more work for TP^DC who's volunteering his free time to keep the tables updated.

Anyone got any thoughts? I'd like to keep it points-based, I think, just to make it manageable, but I'm open to suggestions on the exact numbers/method.

can I ask where can I see the league table?

how about your points are the % of votes you get? I was going to suggest number of votes but perhaps the amount of people voting each month drastically changes.

The League can be found here, I'm not sure how recently it's been updated as the curator has been rather busy from what I understand, but it'll be sorted soon enough.

You could always point based directly on percentage, with the original bonuses for 1st, second third.

So say Januine comes first with 7%, he'd get 7pts plus the placing pts.
Para comes 4th with 5% so gets 5pts but no bonus.

Only issue with that is that it then pushed the winners even further out ahead, Looking at the vote numbers if someone gets even something like 15% and a 1st place bonus, they could very quickly become untouchable, and that's kind of what I'm trying to avoid.

Anyway, to avoid dragging this thread away from awesome pics of minis, I've set up a 'post-mortem' thread for the first year to get feedback/suggestions/ideas ect.

% of votes should be it's own reward then. Placement bonus points would be redundant, since placement is based upon votes as well.

I may do a Bonez dragon or something this month, really hate that I did nothing last month (and the one before, and before,...etc.).

Yep, every completed entry would get at least 1 point no matter what system we go to.

Not to be awkward, but could this point discussion be moved to the thread I linked above? Just keeps things easier for me when it comes to reviewing people's ideas if they're all in one place, and stops this thread getting distracted.

Oops forgot to post a WIP:

Blu-Tak gone and GS in place so when the GS has cured I will prime it. Going to go for a purple and black scheme. Tempted to have the organic components based a light grey and then purple wash over them and then use wet blending on the legs and tentacles to blend purple in with possibly a nuln oil wash after. Think I might have to make a minnow too to test the scheme out

So far so good, but my job has made me pretty tired lately, especially since I'm in the middle of a 6-day work week thanks to being called in on my day off (oh well, my wallet is happy about that!). Hopefully I can forge ahead and keep going on this model, its been fun to paint so far!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
