Thanks folks!

The pictures are just quick ones before the varnish, I will do better ones over the weekend.

@Moolet - I love it! The little gretchin is very creative

@kblock - Awesome job! I like the purplish wings. Great model, too.

@januine - spooky! I like

I have a little time now, have to get my butt in gear. I want to try to finish 2 administratum buildings and 2 bastions before the end of the month, but we'll see. There's also Deathwatch Overkill coming next month, and it's gonna be awfully rough getting anything other DWO models finished then, til I have at least SOME of those models done

Or until GW tosses another jellybean...

@KommissarKiln: i love the gretchin. After painting 2 squads of them i know how small and fiddly they can be. They look great.

@Tittlemanscrest: the Sigmarine looks awesome. Very... i dunno what.. otherwordly? Love the colourscheme and clean painting.

@kb_lock: From continent to continent I’ve travelled, from modelling shop to modelling shop I’ve seen and the utterances in every dark corner of every workbench whispered... “... Trev... Trev ... Trev” The unspoken name of model long since unfinished...
Seriously though, beautiful work. The wings in particularly are spectacular.

Frankly, it's fantastic! The Dread looks like a Dreadnought should, big, stompy and beat up (Clean Marines are for... well, people who like clean Marines, I guess, but personally, I think the more weathered the better! ). And the Grot is just hilarious, those minis are just so full of character. The base looks epic too!

I like to think the little snotling is the last of squad that just charged the dreadnaught. The rest have just been roasted by the frag cannon and flamer, he just hasn't realised his mates aren't with him. Perhaps I should diorama that at some point.=)

Hey Para, I might not get time to take new pics of my MegaArmourGrots. If I do so, I will post the, otherwise, if I don´t, could you just leave the "RocketGrot" out of the pics. If the whole pics are too much, just post the Groupshop pic, please.

Cheers,

KD

Yay Trevor! Bloody well done KB!

I think you need to include a 25mm base or something in the final photo because he is genuinely larger than most people realise.

I'm going to start on Yarrick shortly. Para, can I get permission to photoshop something off the final pictures?
He has a banner pole that a friend is making the banner for - I will not get it before the 28th and it's not my work when it arrives anyway. So I would just block out an empty pole on the photo.

I started marking all the black areas, then realised that is most if the figure. So then I got bored and had a try at skin tones. I am reasonably okay with this.

I'm such a fan of this figure, even though I shouldn't be. It has literal skull-acne on the back of the claw.

I'm going to count the skulls on the entire figure while his bale eye dries.

OK so due to having no internet ATM i'm going to just enter some sort skins, spent to much time wondering if the Russians has helmet covers in the 80's without being able to Google it.

I need a better lighting as this windows are in fact blue.

That classic Yarrick definitely holds up, I think. He's one of the few older sculpts that does, along with I think Dante, Ghazkul, that's about it really. That said, the new/current one is among GW's best sculpts, period,

Thanks, but surprisingly it looks better on camera than in person. It's just a single layer of paint, wash and highlight for most of it, a drybrush on the metallics, and a few layers of white for the helmet (which is chalky as a blackboard tbh). In reality it was a 2 hour paintjob but I was watching friends at the time and so got distracted.

The new one is probably my least favourite Commissar, oddly enough. If I had one, I would swap out the klaw. It turns him from a guy with a weaponised arm on the banners and art, to a half-man-half-tonka-truck, which is a shame. It would realistically (ha) hurt a 50 year old something fierce to wield something like that.

That said this figure really shouldn't be viewed side on. He's single piece cast, and amusingly flat. Cardboard commissar.

As usual, having the attention span of a gnat and being overly ambitious with my paint scheme are hurting my chances of finishing in time...

We'll just have to see!
