I completely agree. IMHO digital artwork is a lot wose, most of the time... (most of the time, not all the time, of course there are exceptions, some of Loïc Muzy work I adore ). Somehow I have a hard time taking digital paintings seriously or feeling emotional about them.
To this day I like browsing through old GW rulebooks and army books just to look at the pretty pictures I`m still bummed out about GW switching from art to miniature photos in the rules section of the 7th ed Ork codex.
PS: I just hate the USAriadna cover art, and I got annoyed, when it have won "best artwork of 2015" on Beasts of War.

Really hoping the pricing is good- the Tzeentch release looked great so hoping the Overlords are a similar pricing scheme and not priced like the fyreslayers..
They look great- kind of a cross between Zhufbar and Barak Varr- I definitely want a whole fleet!
I would expect tzeentch pricing scheme

Maybe I'm just used to the big + shaped flying stand they've been using since the Valkyrie, but to me it looks like the clear peg isn't gonna be able to hold up that frigate model very well.. or it'll be super wobbly.

20 basic dwarfs for 40€ its reasonable. Like Kairic Acolytes. 10 for 45 like Fyreslayers... meh... not so much.
If they cost 40€ for 20 I'm totally buy a Box to do a Adventurers party for Skirmish gaming.

Hmmm it looks like their will be 10 per box https://17890-presscdn-0-51-pagely.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/GAMA-KO-ArkanautCompany-Content.jpg
But who knows what the price will be.
My guess is they are similar points cost to Tzaangors and therefore £25 a box.

They seem boxes of ten from unit appearance. May be wrong but my guess is that they'll be something on the ballpark of 30 euros per 10 guys. 25-30 for the gunners and the skyriggers will have comparable prices to tzaangor enlightened.

Hmm... 10 for 30€ are worse than 20 for 40 € by a 50% margin. But better than 10 for 40-45.
Could be worse. At least they aren't pricetag as old liberators!

Before releasing the Star Collecting Tzeentch Daemons box GW put the prices on Screamers, Flamers and the Flaming Chariot up by 25% (give or take a few percent either side). Or they mean the way Acolytes are priced, and are actually cheaper than the 20 Khorne cultist guys (whatever they're called again, Blood something probably). The fact that the Skydwarfy squad is 10-men rather than 5 like the Fyrslyrys is a good sign.

These might be the first dwarves I have bought for a long long time - they would work well in a number of game worlds and even as Barak Varr from the world that was - bit of conversion and you could make some great gunboats with crews from that sea hold.

Those new flight stands look worryingly thin for a model that size.
I wonder if the ancestor figurehead is any indication of what the Overlords look like under their armour?

If you look, it seems like this is more akin to the "ball" topped flight stands we've seen lately for Jetbikes and the like.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a recess on the Frigate/Ironclad/other ship that is intended to be where the ball connects, allowing for you to 'tilt' or just pop it on or off as you see fit.

Indeed they do, I did notice the bend.
Do you understand plastics? I can clearly see air bubbles in them, ( more the balloon guys though) it would be better with a plastic cast stand rather than these which look stretched.( I'd need to look closer but still )
The cross formation ones were good because it held on quite a strong form but even so they were thin.
If they are still using the Old style clear crumble plastic to be fairly decent you would need maybe a 1-1.5cm thick but it depends on the connecting piece and those always tend to be tiny lugs which always seem to snap.
Ill examine it but it will probably have to be replaced unless it's a new compound. Automatically Appended Next Post: Kanluwen wrote:If you look, it seems like this is more akin to the "ball" topped flight stands we've seen lately for Jetbikes and the like.

That isn't too bad then. A ball joint has fairly decent strength.

While the cross formation flight stands indeed give a lot of stability, imagine how they would look going into the hull of these models. The airships are sizable compared to the crew but, they are still smaller than 40k aircraft, so it seems inevitable that they had to devise a new type of stand for these. Why it isn't a smaller X shaped stand would be a good question, but I guess the new aesthetic calls for cleaner lines and the X stands are quite obvious, and I've always found them a bit off-putting because of all the extra added angles/shadows they create on a scenic base.
Now, about the KO story:
I'm happy that the lore leaks are portraying these guys as sky pirates. Living in floating cities, following the "code", they really have a huge potential for original story telling and head cannon. They're the most relatable AoE new race to date, in my mind.
I like that they included "artycles" of their constitution

What does "Barak" mean in Khazalid? Depending on the answer, I may have to change my personal dwarf army's home from "Garak Dorn" to something altogether more political. Or Hebraic.
Also, I'm going to need some of those Arkanaut Cutters as daos and halberd blades for my fantasy Chinese army, so anyone looking to sell spares, please keep me in mind.

Barak Varr meant Sea Gate in old Khazalid, with Barak being Gate. Considering, though, that millenia have gone by, I'd be not surprised if the word had changed its meaning to outright say "port".
