Interesting that both of our armies are called spiders but are so vastly different.

Also, I had no idea how many different poses you could do with cardians. I thought they were kind of boring but I'm obviously wrong.

I'm now tempted to do an IG army (maybe more elysian) but I definitely shouldn't until i finish my ad mech/ork stuff.

Those sentinels look dope. They're probably one of my favourite units.

Lots of awesome stuff here. I gave up re-equipping my NCOs long ago, and just run them with what they have. I've yet to meet an opponent who cares, because, honestly, it's a Guardsman.

I really like the heavy weapons teams.

Nice to see you here, Captain Brown, and really nice seeing the Spyders again. I like the basing on those Sentinels for some whimsical reason, and the NCO caps and boltguns are still really cool to me.

Thanks kakita,

Here are a few more poses I converted out of plastic Guardsmen and some Forge World heads:

When you have built and painted over 100 of the same model you have to change it up or got insane.

Thanks Ragsta,

I did some more work on the Sentinels, first painting and magnetizing the two I had Multi-Lasers for:

Then since I had no other Sentinel weapons I made some from bits to build these:

Those autocannons don't look like kitbashes.

Which is of course the point...! Good job there Cap'n.

Just catching this for the first time today. What a huge amount of work, care and attention you've been putting into these. Love your heavy weapons teams the best. The running heavy bolter crew and the very commonly participatory loaders! It's sterling work. I also loved seeing the old Orgryns. Makes me want to dig mine out and repair them too. Though I have a heavily converted (using Mordheim parts) veteran squad I really meant to paint sometime years ago. You're an inspiration.

Thanks, making them look as much like the real thing was the goal. They are much longer than the new Sentinel kit ones and were based on the Infantry model.

Thanks the Crowe, that is very kind.

So Tread Heads I started updating the vehicles with a severely damaged Chimera I received in trade that was going to be a static terrain piece as the turret was glued to the body and lots of parts were missing. I started adding some parts, but then broke the frame and that let me even the tracks and make the model level and stable and it no longer looked like a warped Chimera so I decided to save the tank and refurbish it.

If you look carefully you will see bubbled areas of the hull and joins from excessive plastic cement, but after painting it looks like a older and rather rusted transport.

Thank you for the comments and the views.

I think being able to salvage a botched assembly or a damaged kit is always amazing. I have so many of those lying around but I never have the courage or time to invest in one of those 'fixer-uppers'.

Great job on the paintjob for the Chimera. I've seen much better put together models end up looking much worse.

Next up was some Storm Troopers, these had been sitting around for a while and I had tried a couple of paint schemes and even a conversion before I went back to the old school scheme...just altered a bit.

Always nice to see painted Kasrkin - certainly nicer models than the previous two generations of Storm Troopers.

Haven't yet decided whether the Scions have taken the lead or not in that department, though.

Mm. I dunno. I think the best iteration of Stormtroopers so far are the original 3rd edition metals. Sinister and well-equipped, they look and feel the business. The Kasrkin look like their intended function - heavier, more aggressive Cadians!

 Dysartes wrote:

Nah. Their uniforms aren't uniform enough. I don't understand why all their torso armour pieces are different. It's silly. Lots of nice parts though.

As for Captain Brown's stormtroopers - very nice painting. Different enough to stand out, similar enough to fit in beautifully.

I’m going to have to agree with pretty much everything Gen. Steiner has said here. No slight against Kasrkin, they are great models (and well painted here) but I’ve got a soft spot for the old metals. Mine are the last thing I added to my guard before shelving them.

Thank you Dysartes, Gen.Steiner, and Nevelon.

As for the Storm Trooper debate I have never owned any Scions, I do have a squad of the 3rd edition metals that will appear in my Elysian Army. The Kasrkin are in my Spiders Regiment, speaking of which here are a few more for you viewing pleasure.

I also did a very minor conversion to a Junior Officer, gone is the Plasma Pistol and instead he has a Bolt Pistol.

I love this army, it's a great Rogue Trader tribute and great use of the Cadians.

The Cadians are no one's favorites but you're really making them look good!

I really like the use of brass on the AdMech; it makes them pop and works really well with the red robes.

Unfortunately, painting all the fun stuff like Storm Troopers and Adeptus Mechanicus meant I had to paint more regular Trooper, especially VOX Operators as my first go round with this army had none.

But this lot gave me enough to complete the First Platoon - three Infantry Squads - Heavy Weapons Squad - PCS

Including a Platoon Standard just like the old Imperial Guard, although the Platoon Command Squads had lost their sixth member and two Lascanons of old.

If you can find a nice quick way to paint them, it's much easier. It also helps with the Guard because you can mix-n-match units (my Force Z has a platoon of metal Cadians and a platoon of Tallarn, for example, supported by two different types of Stormtrooper, Ratlings, Ogryns etc).

Captain Brown has found such a method here - and also builds the army bit by bit, so suddenly you have a really big army that's crept up on you!

Thanks Toxic_Toast, it is just part of the fun. Take a look at Gen.Steiner's PLOG for how many he has painted and how he gets around the repetitive part.

Thanks Gen.Steiner, I only wish I have found an easier paint scheme...but I was copying the original Rogue Trader scheme which gets built up to Codex Grey and then has reversed Tiger stripes added on top...which makes each model it's own little job.

Painted another pair. One reloading...not sure why he is bothering as it will do the same damage to the enemy as a fully charged flashlight.
