I wouldn't be surprised if the inevitable Genestealer Cult Start Collecting is going to be 2x Metamorph/Acolyte boxes, an Iconward, and a Chimera or something.

It will be neophytes. Search your heart, you know it to be true. 10 neophytes + iconward + goliath truck.

I highly doubt it will be a Goliath. The Goliath is going to be a hot ticket item. Start Collectings tend towards selling dud items.

Hence why I said Acolytes rather than Neophytes. Neophytes are looking to be a hot ticket item.

Really? I got the sense the formations seemed to be pushing the more expensive Acolytes and Metamorphs.

Luckily I think that kit bashing is going to be pretty easy and is encouraged.

Not that I think they would have been cheaper otherwise, but they've surely expected this to result in increased Overkill sales from here on out. As a future GSC player, I can tell you that's where I'll start.

I was going to buy the codex and build these with some Steel Legion IG, but I did not know they are a summoning army. I do not wish to invest that much cash for a massive tide of units -- what a pity. Would have at least enjoyed them for Kill Team.

They're only a summoning army if you roll on that table. You could always take the army and roll on, say, Biomancy.

I think given the rrp on the Chimera/cadian acolyte set that the above may be a bit limited for a start collecting set, in £ the rrp on those items is only £50 so too low for such a box. I reckon:

Acolytes
Neophytes
Iconward
Sentinel

So an individual rrp of £85 odd and offering some savings.

Still waiting for my pre order to arrive.
Usually it's here quickly.

Would have been better off going to my local and buying it on the day of release.
Would have been easier anyway.

From a "crunch" perspective, I think you're right. The formation rules definitely benefit the Acolytes and Metamorphs more, but from a modeling/hobby/collection perspective, a lot of people are looking at the Neophytes and thinking they work for things other than GSC. I've seen a lot of people in this thread and elsewhere talking about using them a Chaos cultists, mining-themed IG, and other conversion/kit bashing ideas.

I got mine yesterday. #784. The dice probably didn't quite turn out how GW wanted...they don't let quite enough light in and end up kinda dark. But I still like 'em.

There isn't much that could rain on my parade with this release. The fact that we got a codex was awesome for me...GW knocking most of this release out of the park just made it all kinds of amazing.

What rumours are you expecting to be reading here? It has been released, what is there left to remain rumour?

Someone, some where has to always complain about something. It's the thing to do on the internet. He could have always used the little yellow triangle instead as a mod will tell him. Funny thing is, he is just as off topic that he is complaining about.

So to make it back to "rumours" is that it for the Genestealer Cult then? Nothing for week 3?

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

I am a little disappointed they didn't get some kind of flyer.

I was hoping for like... an off word dump truck kind of thing. Something designed to grab cargo and shuttle it from location to location or into low orbit that the GSC have turned into a troop transport/bomber by dumping crates of explosives out the hatch.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

From today's GW blog: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-NL/blog/blog.jsp

A mighty all-purpose vehicle that transports Genestealer Cults directly into the heart of battle, the Goliath – in both its Rockgrinder and Truck configurations – is already a firm favourite here in the web dungeon. It’s a lovely model when assembled, but we reckon the potential for conversion makes it stand out.

Ant decided to add a trailer to his. Plenty more room for hiding sinister Hybrid Acolytes!

Ant used two Goliaths and a Munitorum Armoured Container. With a little bit of cutting and Green Stuff to fill any ugly gaps the Goliath Heavy Rig was born.
