Thanks! Yeah, that's what they're ending up as. I'm making them by kitbashing the guard kit with (mostly) the mantic clansmen, who come with some really neat heads and backpacks. Also foxes. Expect more from the foxes.

Thank you! Sadly, i only have one of those pickaxes. It's really fun to me though.

Thank you thank you! More shall come... now!

He is a grizzled fellow with an anterly backpack. Where do the antlers come from? Space Moose? Probably Space Moose.

Definitely lesser spotted Space Moose antlers! Cool idea for a guard regiment, looking forward to seeing them come together

Looking good! Although I’m gonna have to say that much like space marines with back banners, this guy’s number one nemesis is gonna be doors...
Although you know what they say: when life closes a door, get out your breaching charges and make a hole! At least me and my siblings say that. We played a lot of Battlefield 1...

Ah yes, Space Moose... the emperor's favorite game. Even today not many people know that besides the thousands of psykers sacrificed to feed him, there's always one Space Moose thrown in... for the taste!

And now seriously, nice conversion. May I ask where those antlers are from? You always have the best bitz!

Those guards are looking great. I really like the furry hoods. Have you thought about paint yet? I could see them looking well in a deep blue cloth with white armour scheme.

Thank you! and that helps me with a color scheme for the moose parts at least. Spots! You don't see spots often enough on miniatures

It's a good aphorism in my book. Plus, style's more important than fitting through a door anyhow.

Thanks! It's from the mantic KoW Clansmen kit, part of their northern alliance. Lots of fun heads and bonus foxes are included!

I have and that's a good scheme but for some reason i was trying purple. I don't know why, just in a purple mood. I may... change it.

in the meantime, i lost my mind.

Lost it! Well, I always wanted some ogryns.

I put together the command squad too!

Oh, I still am, ha.

So! It's been a while here. I've been having... a pretty rough month. I lost a very close friend who passed away suddenly, and it hit me a lot harder than i thought it would. With covid and everything, we hadn't seen each other in a while, and it's just... every moment you have with a person you care about is precious. it's a cliche, but it's true. there are so many things we planned that will never happen, and that's just that.

I'm not great at talking about serious things, so i'm just going to post this, one more beast soldier! I like this one.

Hopefully more snow fellows soon!

Edit: whoa that came out huge. Sorry!

Hey turtles, I am sorry to hear about your friend. It's never easy to deal with the passing of a loved one but especially so when it is unexpected. I hope you and yours push through and can reach out for help if you need to. I don't know if you are the same but honestly after this year's worth of craziness I am feeling every loss/stumble a lot harder than I usually would. You are not alone in real life or dakka world!

There is a lot of hobby work going on here that is worth celebrating. The Voice of Lutra crew came out fantastic. I think it has been said before but they definitely look like the bruiser bad guys from an 80s cartoon brought to life.

For the tyranid, I second the vote for painting the whole word a bunch of different colours. I love nonstandard armies and bugs especially fit the bill!

I am enamoured with the Canadian guard!

Pickaxes do seem hard to come by but I found these at a quick search:

https://www.magistermilitum.com/scl14-pick-x10.html

https://victoriaminiatures.com/products/shovel-and-pickaxe

https://megabitzshop.com/Warhammer-AoS-Bitz-CHAOS-Marauders-Weapon-L-Pickaxe-I

https://megabitzshop.com/Warhammer-AoS-Bitz-CHAOS-Marauders-Weapon-M-Pickaxe-II

Might be something useful in there.

All the best, and as always looking forward to more! Can't wait to see where an otter will pop up next.

Thank you, really. Every word means a lot. Things are getting better in general, i'm just done with this year. And most things.

I have definitely been feeling everything harder this year, tzurk. honestly, i don't cope well under the best circumstances, so this year has been a struggle. And yet in a lot of ways, i'm luckier than some.
Thank you for all the kind words and i hope you're doing ok now too

I'm not sure what that means exactly, but i say yes! It sounds fun.

I have some fun hobby things at least! I finally managed to get a tea pot for the sisters of tea battle. I think it fits really well! It does need decoration, of course. And they need a good color scheme

Still trying to find a way to make a tiny tea cup for the sister superior to hold in one hand, but hey, progress!

What about make the color scheme a tribute to your friend? A lot of tea cups and pots have floral patterns. Do you know your friend's favorite flower? Or Color?
How are your freehand flower painting skills?

However you do it, The Sisters of Tea is really cool.

Hey, welcome back. I'm sorry to hear about your friend; I know that your blog has always been a great source of whimsy and lightness for me, so I hope your fun hobby things can serve a similar therapeutic function.

I like the beast-fellow; and the teapot-standard. Oddly enough I recently put together some LEGO kits and there was a plastic teacup piece that would probably work for scale. It would be fun for the teacup sisters if they had caterpillars for pets.

I've thought about something as a tribute, but to really fit it would probably have to be some sort of demon related project, ha. We had this ongoing thing we were working on together, he wanted to make a game that involved fighting kind of egpytian style demons. it was silly, but a lot of fun to do.

I'm so glad that you get that out of my blog! It has been helpful for me, keeping busy in general is a good idea. And that lego looks about right, some day i've gotta visit my parents and dig through my old legos for pieces like that!

So i made an ogryn with a gryph hound head, it needs some filling in around the neck.
