Why are people expecting a new book before they have released alot of stuff from a current one?

They tend to release a book, release 75% or so of the models from it then release another book, so on.

I'd expect to see Tsons units before fires.

Besides, who cares about Dorn?
He's just a yellow Smurf:p

Simply put, no. Fires of Cyraxus was supposed to be released before any of this gak was even announced.

And also, oh, nonono, GW Swirly Gak^tm is infesting FW models now. We's doooooomed.

The model is tolerable.

Considering he's a psyker who uses his powers A LOT, I think it would have been remiss of FW not to do that.

So that swirly gak is as bad as the new avatars?
You know it's 3 small connection points right?
Infact, you dont even have to glue it on.

The avatars however, well, it takes heavy sculpting work to remove all of that.

Nothing was supposed to be released at any point, it is done as FW sees fit.
Just because something wasn't leaked or announced doesn't mean it hasn't been an ongoing project for a while.

Being HH, these models would have been lined up when HH first started as they said they were following the story.
So fires was planned before they started the HH line?

Yeah we really don't want FW to hear and push those back even more.
If they do they might push a certain other item back, and we really don't need em-en-oh-pee to have to endure an even longer wait...

Also another reminder that Inferno was announced as being released after Betrayal (the first book in the HH line) and by extension Magnus and Russ were meant to be released along with it, so it's not like TSons players have been waiting for a shorter time than those of you who want FoC to be released before 8th and become next to useless and out of date...

Fires was never "planned". "Planned" implies that the a plan will ever be executed. No, Fires is an idea. A symbol of FW prioritizing more Marines over the statement they made last May.
8th is going to be released in what, next month? July, I fail at math. Shouldn't be too long.

I don't think the swirly gak is as bad as the new things, but it showing up is still a bit sad. I hope it doesn't spread.

Yeah, and Inferno was supposed to come out like 4-5 YEARS AGO. They pushed it back several times because, according to FW, they couldn't get the balance for the 1KSons right (and they still didn't, mind you).

Jeez. I get that there's an overdose of Marines all the time but Thousand Sons and Space Wolves fans have been waiting for this for nearly half a decade.

Also, consider that Fires of Cyraxus is more than likely being rewritten with 8th Edition in mind. Do you really want them to release it and have it immediately become outdated, because that's what would happen/have happened if they release it now/released it a few months ago.

No. It should have been released last summer, when it was supposed to be released. Now, it has to be later, and later, to avoid the 8th edition fethery.

Yeah, it sucks that it's been delayed, but the silver lining here is that it won't become outdated within a year of release which, considering it's an expensive as heck Imperial Armour book, is not a bad deal.

I take issue with you saying that;

I would hate to see how you'd react if you were waiting for Inferno all these years...

You have it in your head that Inferno is 5 years late.

Inferno was supposed to be the 4th book. Instead, Conquest, Tempest, and Retribution came out (books 4, 5, and 6).

Release dates:

Book 1: October 2012
Book 2: October 18, 2013
Book 3: May 2014
Book 4: November 2014
Book 5: May 2015
Book 6: February 2016
Book 7: March 2017

November 2014 to March 2017 is 2.5 years.

Wow. I didn't realize Conquest was so old now. They really are dragging their feet on some stuff from that book.

My book 7, that I ordered at AdeptiCon, arrived on Saturday. Can't wait to finally read it. Despite the lack of nipple horns, I must admit that Magnus looks pretty baller.

They're made specifically for the Thousand Sons by Zhao-Arkhad, the forgeworld that they have a close relationship to. Rather than the normal control circuitry and cortex controllers, they have crystals grown in the caverns underneath Tizca that TS librarians can use in a similar manner, in order to coordinate their actions.

In game, they are under the TS player's complete control as long as there is a psychic unit within 24" of them, they can take damage if a psyker takes perils within 12", and they can be used by any TS psyker within 12" as the point of origin for maledictions and witchfires.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm fine with that although I'd also have been fine with failed aspirants' brains in jars mounted in them as well.

I'm surprised they didn't follow the Abaddon/Loken route of the bases pairing up for Magnus and Russ, but they'll still look good when placed beside each other on the tabletop I guess.

Are we sure that isn't how they 'really' work? Not like various parts of the mechanicum haven't lied to outsiders (and each other) before…

It looks like one of those jokes were two construction crews are building a bridge on opposite sides of a river and when they go to meet in the middle they discover that they are off by a few feet.

The torso and legs look like two different sculpters working in different rooms who got briefed on what the end model should look like but never talked to each other. They then discovered that they have done different scales and so to save face just stuck the two halves together and hoped nobody would notice.

Yeah, there's something pretty funky where his giant waist armor meets his kinda' normal leg armor.

The legs look fine to me, maybe they look a bit off because he is twisting a bit at the waist ?

Love the sculpt, although this is the perfect example of FW/GW's obsession with tiny thigh/quad armour. Seriously, how paper thin would the armour be on his upper legs to have those dimensions.
Still, it's my favourite primarch sculpt so far and I can't wait to get hold of it.

You missed that point by a country mile or two

He said SCULPT not character. That sculpt screams scibor with it's terrible anatomy and over use of raised detail.
