I'd buy deathwatch ones. And if there was a confirmed series 2 I'd buy all of them and do a little Minotaurs army.

Whilst these are perfectly nice sculpts, personally I think they are too expensive, especially for a blind buy item. The comparable Gundam Universal Unit kits are Y250 cheaper and are less random.

Even including a 5mm base puts them taller than a primaris marine.

I'm assuming this is just a mistake in the description. Why would GW try to rope in non-players with out of scale figures that they could not then integrate with their new Space Marine army that they'll start once they're hooked?

while your brain is telling you that's a 32mm base (as that's what marines now come on) it might not be,

it's pretty hard to tell until we see a photo with a ruler, some other easily scaled item or a real GW made marine

Those are some very nice classic tactical marines, but even if they are to scale, there's no way I'm spending $75 on a tactical squad.

Also, since the selling points include their use in the game, I assume that's an error.

Hobbylink Japan puts up stuff priced by a few different sellers - and they know their market. Prices on all that stuff fluctuates very heavily based on supply/demand. They know there is a huge collector-fetish market in the US, particularly for Japanese based products (the more Japanese the better sometimes).

It's highly unlikely that the actual price is anywhere near the $174 for 24 minis as shown...but I'm guessing some people have already bought them. (and will then try to flip them on eBay for even double that).

They're 750 yen a piece so 18000 yen to buy a whole box at retail. HLJ has the box listed for the total price minus tax plus their usual discount as I believe is typical for this type of product.

That is pretty expensive even for GW. I will have to watch eBay for them. I only want 2 or 3 of them (Sevastus, Garus, and Titus).

750 yen honestly seems pretty reasonable to me (or at least expectable) They're basically the equivalent of single sprue character models which are what 20-30 USD? The main issue comes from the fact that there are 12 unique models and a box of 24 so getting the set is going to be expensive. Keep in mind these aren't intended to be sold as a full box.

Definitely keep an eye on ebay if there are just a few you want, but to be honest I would probably suggest just buying a box and selling the extras yourself. Or maybe people on Dakka could coordinate splitting a box. I don't know exactly how pricing will work out because obviously there has never been a GW product like this, but in my experience (With Sentai/Kamen Rider candy toys) they'll be much more than msrp.

These are prohibitively expensive, both as a gashapon equivalent in Japan and a single, fixed-posed model in the West.

Tactical Squad (Japan) - 5,500 Yen.
10 Blindmarines (Japan) - 7,500 Yen.

Tactical Squad (US) - 40 USD.
10 Blindmarines (US) - 68 USD.

Gundam shokugans (non-blind collectibles with gum) and gashapons are generally pre-assembled and pre-painted and the priciest ones come at 500 Yen. Capcom Figure Builder Monster Hunter figures are around 950 Yen and come fully painted and are quite sizeable (some as large as a Daemon Prince).

Blindmarines come unpainted on a small sprue comparable to the one you get in the Gundam Meikan gashapon line (priced at 250 Yen, so a third of Blindmarine price).

I've no idea who they're targeting with this but the value simply isn't there.

And when you consider the line in light of recently arrived Primarines...

First off, as I said these are more comparable to mono-pose character models than a box of tactical marines and in that respect the price is fairly reasonable. Your comparison to Gundam figures is much more apt, however these are a significantly more niche product and are priced accordingly imo.

I should add that I do feel these would be a much better value priced at 500 yen, but I never would have expected them to be.

This is pure speculation, but perhaps this is actually a licensed product, in the same vein as the FFG RPGs and board games. IIRC, FFG were prohibited from making any game components which were actual miniatures in scale with GW's main games. If this is so then the alleged odd choice of scale my be a result of the license. Likewise, the price point may be partly due to GW demanding a particular profit margin, of Max Factory having to eat the licensing cost. I do think the higher price compared to established shokugan ranges will hurt this range's prospects though. I suppose we'll find out in a couple of months.

Hmm ... the last marine, the silhouetted Brother Premethor, looks like it could be the one that comes with the new "Getting Started" with 40K book by GW.

Unless they have giant or midget fingers, a quick "chuck a mini on my thumb" test shows it's a 32mm base!

Yeah, the size on the HLJ page is probably the size of the "palm sized" sprue.
