If it wasn't from PRE-heresy I'd say the head of Ferrus Manus, kept in stasis so he didn't go crazy and Cawl was assigned to build him a new body

If they don't change it, Horus was killed by a psychic attack.

Whats the source for that quote?

Short story (well, reeeally short) The Emperor and Horus from Bill King. It was published in WD 131 and Realm of Chaos - The Lost and the Damned and later (with change of tense and some details and embedded in a longer text) in one of the Visions books.

Thats the same defence force box that has been around a long while. Its been out of stock for more than a few months on the UK site (and i guess elsewhere) so either they are putting a few more out, or are clearing stock of some they found in a warehouse/container somewhere.
Well, it was actually discontinued last year. Some places still had them, but it was gone for some time.
Genestealer Cult players can be pretty happy about it too...

Honestly, I don't see how having Ferrus Manus's head or body in cold storage would anger Abaddon so much. It is probably something a bit more significant than that.
I do like the concept that Cawl's project was a Life-sustaining Armor designed to allow someone mortally injured against a powerful Chaos opponent to regain consciousness and stay mobile.
That it happens to work for Guilliman doesn't mean it was designed for him. The Emperor was known to have powerful precognitive abilities, after all.
That also doesn't entail the armor would work for Big E at this point - just that the armor had a different god-like being in mind for its resurrecting capabilities...

He used to wear clam diggers, a head piece for his braces, and a pocket protector.
Don't be ridiculous. He's just mortified that the other Astartes will find out that he didn't always wear his hair in a topknot but rather hairsprayed/teased his bangs straight up like an 80's valley girl.

Cawl was charged with creating a new body for the Emp. Cawl, unable to find any other way to make a suitable body able to handle the Emp's power, revives RG.
The newly revived RG is not only awake and battle ready, but is more powerful than records seem to state. Understanding his return is only temporary because he is to be the new host for the essence of the Emp, he fights on towards Terra.
...AND...
Spoiler:
Cypher is there for the shiggles.

I don't want to know who Cypher is. The ambiguity and uncertainty around him makes the character.

Apparently cypher is redloss, first captain of the dark angels dread wing and Captain of the Lions honor guard
Where is this rumor coming from? Is is possible it is from someone who already have the book?
If true than I will be little disappointed.
Spoiler:
I really wanted Zahariel to be true identity of Cypher
info on cypher's early years
Spoiler:
Farith Redloss was a member of the Dark Angels during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. Redloss was originally a native of Caliban, and most of his family was killed by the Great Beasts that roamed the forest. When he was 8 years old, his settlement was rescued by The Order and Lion El'Jonson. The young but determined fighter was selected to become a member of the Dark Angels thereafter. Eventually commanding the Dreadwing, he became the voted lieutenant of the force after recommendation by his predecessor Constantine. As commander of the Dreadwing, Redloss was frequently at his Primarch Lion El'Jonson's side. When the Lion arrived at Macragge Redloss led his honour guard and later helped battle Konrad Curze when the Night Lords Primarch was loose upon the planet. Farith later helped lead the hunt for Curze, personally leading the Dreadwing in the attack on the Zepath System in the search of the Night Haunter. He then took part in the hunt for Curze in the Illyrium region of Macragge when the Lion finally cornered the Night Haunter.
The Dreadwing was one of the six specialized formations called Wings of the Dark Angels Space Marine Legion during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. The speciality of Dreadwing was total warfare where the voted-lieutenant bearing title Dreadbringer used Destroyer Marine Squads supported by other types of squads to bring total anihilation of a foe on specific battlefield. The Dreadwing utilized mass armored assaults of Land Raiders, Spartan Assault Carriers, Mastodons and Fellglaives with advanced weaponry. They were also known to employ weapons of mass destruction such as Phosphex and Vortex Weapons.

But seriously now, would they spoil such a big 40k secret plainly like that in the new book?
They would, if the Dark Angels needed new Leadership... duh duh duh!
If nothing else going to be Good read. After 25 years in this hobby, the story is going to move forward. I hope they do a full Audio Book on Siege of Terra and the battle that ensues above!

It'll prob just be mixing the DA veterans kit with existing marines but hopefully some neat little tricks thrown in.
At least it seems we will be getting rules for a Fallen force, wonder what special rules they will have.
Edit: Hah! Just realised I haven't even touched my BaC marines yet! Well I know what I am making them into! I just love Cypher's model the most out this trio, the flowing tattered robe is so well done and the sword is just badass!
