Were you not put off by his frankly stupid stance? His armour was also a problem point if I remember, not really fitting in with the rest of the UM army and looking more like TS armour.

The stance could be better but seeing a 360 of the model makes it less unappealing.

The 360 view often gives a better indication of the full model. I'm reserving judgement for Typhus until I see the full view on the website when it goes on Preorder

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

I much prefer Morty painted up in his traditional off white armour: http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2017/09/40k-hobby-painting-up-mortarion.html (sorry for the BOLS link)

For Guilliman I use the 30k model, the load out is roughly the same but the model is far better. Only issue is that the 30k version is smaller if I remember correctly?

So got my hands on the codex the other day and I only have two real gripes. First, the art sucks. It just doesn't feel right. Wish they had gotten the guy who did the art for Realms of Chaos: Lost and the Damned. Second, the codex is positively anemic. Way smaller than I expected yet I still paid the same price as the marine and CSM one. I feel ashamed at myself for that. Can't wait to put together Mortarion though. Lots of fun detail on him that I can't wait to paint.

Sux that we lost some units. My Forgefiend, Havocs, and Bikers are just KIA I guess. I'll re-base the plague marines I already have though rather than give GW money for their new sculpts. As interesting as they are I just can't buy new plague marines when i have a bunch already converted up. Same goes for the Terminators. The guys I have will make fine Blightlords even if they are only as tall as the new DG marine sculpts.

I have no interest in the melee route for the Death Guard. Can't think of anything LESS DG than that.

Like the tanks and hauler dudes but I think they are a tad bit too gimmicky and wont be as good on table as it might seem but need more games to vet that theory.

All in all I guess I'm sorta "meh" over this. Death Guard getting their own codex and some new mini's (including a demon prince Mortarion) are like the only reasons I got back into 40k (never played a single game of 7th). I feel kinda let down, but at least i have a great toy in Mortarion.

Do we have any more rumors involving that strange centipede-like beast thing we first saw in Mortarion's leaked art?

I'm a Nurgle AoS player still desperately hoping we might get some Nurgle love - new Beasts, a Battletome, anything. Now that the DG release seems to be winding down, my hopes are dwindling quickly.

Well it shouldn't be surprising, DG didn't get a new release so much as a total overhaul. Even after this codex, DG lost more units than it gained moving from 7th to 8th.

Thousand Sons also saw their release towards the end of the year, then Disciples of Tzeentch followed early in the next. I would expect something similar here. I think the allegiance abilities (and horticulous) are meant to give AoS nurgle something in the meantime, so I would expect a several month gap.

While I think the art is well-made, I have to agree that it lacks variety. Seriously, it seems like the only plague marines you see in any of the art are the plague marines from Dark Imperium. Look at any painting in the book - you'll see the same three guys in each picture. I would have loved some variety in the artwork, for sure.

I actually liked the art particularly for its daemons, because of the very factor you mentioned. The daemons seem to have had more artistic freedom allowed and there are some really good portrayals there. I don't have a problem with GW wanting art to represent actual miniatures but at a certain point it puts a cap on potential. i still agree it's solid art though, despite what the rose-gogglers may say.

I must admit, the size of the book and the price point is a big pill to swallow but it will be a book you can use for a long time, the art is great in my mind the rules are fun, its a pity some portions of my army were invalidated.

Still definitely gonna buy it when it finally gets to this side of the world

Now what's this?

There's only one combiplasma part on the Blight Lord sprue, and the text says this:

"The Champion of the unit can take combi-weapon upgrades; there’s a plasma, flamer and melta variant available."

Come on, GW...

Edit: On the other hand, the nurgling on Typhus belly seems to be attached mainly to his leg, which should make it quite easy to remove - great news for those of us who think nurglings are stupid.

You're right, that is bad. It would only be worse if your entire Termie squad had the combi-plasma option but GW decided to put no combi-plasmas at all in the box. I have no idea what that would be like.

I keep looking at those death shrouds and trying to think how I can incorporate them into a AoS army.

Outside of the arm- mounted weapons, they look like they could slide right into a fantasy army.

Any thoughts?

Initially, I looked at that new pose and thought exactly this. But then I looked at it again and the longer I look at it the weirder the pose gets: without his arms by his side, his sides become weirdly flat, his shoulders seem to have travelled to head hight and it brings attention to the fact that GW stupidly modelled Morty with his head sticking out in front of him.

Maybe it'll look better finished but right now it's just getting weirder and weirder the more I look at it.
