What up guys! I found this guy I started when I was all about the Eldar but didn't sell him as I thought he'd look too good if I finished him up! so now I have an urge to see what he'll look like all done up, I got straight back onto the horse and just about finished the base off and did all the reds which was quite a bit
I've started doing the gems now and there is a LOT of gems why did I think painting every single one was a good idea? tell me again?

Holy hell, that cockpit O_O Props to the cephalopod that looted a wraithknight
I do feel like all Eldar painters get to a point where you have to choose: Do I paint ever gods damn gem? Or do I preserve my tenuous grasp on sanity for a while longer?

that is the lure of Slaanesh. But by the time you ask if you are already lost and damned because to skip the painting of each one is a pleasure of laziness, but to do them all is a pleasure of masochism.

I can't find it now, but I've seen a quote from Jes Goodwin in the past basically saying that the only ones that are definitely meant to be gems are the ones that are in a setting, so like on the wraithknight that would be the big one in the middle of the chest for example. The others are meant to be some sort of pod/bump on the armour containing circuits or something like that. He then went on to say that it wasn't a hard and fast rule and that the 'pod' ones could be gems too if you wanted them to be. I tend to prefer gems kept to a minimum on my eldar, because I find having too many of them breaks up the model too much, especially if they've got a high contrast to the colour around them. Saves time too!
So I have a little work to show you! one is a model of Helbrecht painted up and the other is a large lapse of judgement and is Primarneus Calgar Helbrecht needed to fit in with his armies models so he's rocking a nice toxic themed base, I discovered that using old 25mm resin bases on top of the 32's gives a bit of work room to add more details and then they don't get wasted, I hope he is to an acceptable standard to bring the light of the Emperor into the darkness!
Primarneus and friends, no friends of mine now they're Primaris but they're for a friend so you know, I had to do it the one good thing I can comment on is that i'm glad they (GW) have pulled back on cramming too much detail onto the models, these are a great example of showing the status and regalia of the Ultramarines without being covered in flowing parchment or smoke stacks and warp dust!
Helbrecht!
Primarneus & friends!
Hope they're o.k!

While a lot of Primaris minis don't do much for me (basically anything not in the standard armour, I'm really not a fan of Aggressors, Interceptors or the new Dread), I do like the Calgar one. It strikes me as fairly close to what an updated Calgar might look like even without being Primarisised, Though the previous version is a real classic to my mind.
Finished up the Saim Hann Wraithknight my lord it's a cool model so many gems.....so.....so many! but totally worth it to paint! how darn good does it look if I may say so I don't know what else to say really, except it took a while and I think i've done a decent job of it and I hope you enjoy it!

Amazing work dude. I can completely empathize with the pain of painting every. single. gem. as that's what I did with my Wraithknight as well. It was incredibly tedious but I feel it's well worth it in the end, it's such a beautiful model i feel it does deserve the extra attention. Fantastic work man.

Thanks guys, i'm pretty pleased with him myself too! i'm glad i didn't half ass it and rush it doing the gems certainly makes him stand out as something special on the table, now I just need to find someone who wants to buy it
I was given some models by a friend and it now looks like i'm collecting Tau now he saw how utterly shattered I was with Primaris and marine models so thought I'd be suited to painting this kind of thing..... turns out he was right
my first Broadside, very much inspired by the Constructicons from the original Transformers
I just built 3 battlesuits and am working on some pathfinders next.

Thanks Gits, I know how you aren't a fan of the Tau so even saying that it's pretty is a big plus! I'm going for a jungle themed board re do for them now!
I really want to do a Riptide for them now as I think the colours and size of the model will look fantastic, just some suits and pathfinders to build.

Bless
Weirdly I'm stumbling into a Tau army too, thanks to Kill Team prompting me to paint some truly ancient fire warriors I had sitting around for 10 years and my bro sending me his own dusty collection of grey plastic aliens. Broadside is high on my list of beautiful 'new' kits I didn't know existed but totally need Won't be as green or tasty as yours, but should put some holes in things. Pity the plastic crisis suits are still trash apart from the commander / FW stuff (right??), tho I'm going heavy groundpounders anyway - can't get enough of those plucky little shas'la and their boundless optimism in the face of cosmic horror / intergalactic tyranny.
