Problem with Necrons is also finding those CP. Infantry units are often maxed to take advantage of RP, meaning larger and fewer detachments.
Those 2CP for some canoptek fun means a unit of Warriors or Flayed Ones lost to morale.

I'm inclined to agree. But if not, hell, that actually could be amazing. Squeeze a unit of meganobz into a 30 man squad of boyz and jump the two of them together.
Or at the very least join HQs to units, which our characters desperately need. Kind of tired of getting a warboss *bonked* by a single thunder hammer because we haven't had invlun saves for 4 years.

Do we even know if the GW rules team realise what a bad idea it would be to not release the points changes at least as official errata for free?

We have no indication they realize as such and it appears you will have to pay for it or find a leak to get the full list.

I really hope it's not two squads of the same type - though I have my concerns that you may be right.
I'd love to group characters with another squad; letting them move/be affected together. Specifically, I'm thinking of Runtherd+Grots, getting Da Jumped into a front line and tying something up in melee.
It wouldn't be good (but neither are grots ), but it'd be fun... it always was wierd that the runtherd was a separate pick, instead of an upgrade to a Grot squad.

That ork relic could actually be pretty damn good on a warboss. That's hitting at S8, -2AP, D3 wounds, with wounds of a 6 being D3 mortal. Not to mention that's still hitting on 2's. Finally we might have a CC character other than ghaz that's actually a little scary in CC.
I actually feel bad about the Tau one though. Once a game for an ability that honestly isn't that good to begin with.

The second one only affects a single unit. Commanders want to deep strike to be useful and the cold Star is so fast it doesn’t need it. Junk. Absolute crap. I guess you could get within melts range on one commander? I would rather have the better deep strike commander.
If you think a Warlord trait is going to apply to your whole army, you're ridiculous.
Both of those effects are Warlord traits.
Also if you can't see the big deal about "Your Warlord can advance and shoot as if it had not moved", you're ridiculous.
It's basically tailor made for a Fireknife(swapping the Multi-Tracker for an Advanced Targeting System to add 1 extra point of AP to the Plasma Rifle and a point to the Missile Pod) suit, allowing for you to advance and fire your Plasma Rifle and Missile Pod with no hit penalties. You normally wouldn't be able to fire your Plasma Rifle and your MP would normally be at a -1 to hit because you Advanced.
Holy gak guys... once a game reroll. Meta meta busting changes lolol. Tau are op ban now b4 they get it guis.
Once a game reroll for Damage(as in when you roll for, say, Missile Pods) or Hit or Wound and the much sought after "Roll a dice each time a stratagem is used by an opponent; get a CP" effect on the same Relic.
The markerlight strat is possibly the only decent thing here and since ml are crap anyways it’s not that great.
Awww, you can't bump yourself to basically always autohitting anymore?
Boohoo. That's called "Balance". Now with that strat, Darkstrider can potentially make it so that a target has a full stack of Markerlight counters without you needing to commit anyone else to firing.
Or if you want to get really cheeky?
Use that Stratagem while splitting a 5 model unit of Markerlights at 5 separate units(remember: each model can target a different unit!) and potentially nail 5 units with 5 stacks.
If there are no Tau points adjustments gg.
Yes. Tau will be the only ones to not get points adjustments. Totally.
Gulliman buffs his marines to auto hitting and basically auto damage everything. So you back right the hell off. Most other armies that are good have some permanent buff to their army to re-roll damage or hits in 8th. Or some super boost to make up for it. Tau have nothing. They are litteraly bottom tier in the standings. So I damn well expect some good buffs for Tau then see this aboluste joke of "buff". Okay you can move one unit into range or you can have your commander rerolling failed hits which is more reliable then moving a commander into range.
The only thing that Tau can hope for is some major price cuts now since it looks like what we got is terrible with one or two niche uses. I never said it didn't have a niche use,l but compared to some of the OP space marine stuff like -1 BS this is absolutely tame and toothless in comparison and you can't prove me otherwise and you know it.

Yes. Mars AdMech with Robots and Cawl is insane, and CSM have the strongest Alpha Strike in the game alongside two Daemon Primarchs (who despite having thier own codices still have the Keywords to be affected by CSM abilities/Stratagems/etc). I would agree with GK being as bad or worse but not by much.

I think you're still think of RP in 7th edition terms. It doesn't matter when the unit takes the damage, you now only roll at the beginning of YOUR turn.
This. You beat me to posting it
For those that haven't kept up with the indexes, you roll re-animation at the beginning of each of your turns for all the models in a unit that died on any previous turn (as long as at least 1 model from the unit is still alive).
Consider this. A big unit of Wraiths, super hard to remove outside of smite spam and Null Zone, gets dropped to 1 or 2 models. Pop this stratagem, (maybe even with a Cryptek nearby for a +1) and, if really needed, pop the other rumoured strat, and you're now bringing back your big unit of wraiths on 4+ re-rollables. Maybe run these alongside a few units of speed bump scarabs and dance in glee as everything comes back to life to the huge annoyance of your opponent.

Apparently the eastern ITC is not happy about Reece right now and his overlord dictatorial ways. In particular how he is continuously nerfing the Tau more and more. So I think we should start an east and west split in rules. Honestly I can't say I'm happy either.
If GW can't provide balanced play, and Frontline gaming has become a GW stooge and indulging in all their whims on how they should feel things are done despite not asking the actual player base I think it's time to get serious about an offshoot league of some sort featuring a new FAQ and way to play.

They stated all factions would be getting points adjustments. Since GK are bottom of the barrel right now, and in many cases worse off than some index only armies, I hope much of what they have gets addressed.
Things that I'd like to see:
1. Terminators down 6 points per model
2. All special weapons down 20%
3. Flacions UP one point
4 Strike squads down 2 points.

The new stratagem is decent-ish. 1CP, any bike or infantry unit gets an extra shot on ranged hit of 6+.
Don't think it's amazing, but it's decent, and pretty cute.
l
It's actually pretty awful. For 1 cp, every 36 shots will generate approximately 2 more hits.
For units that aren't using shootas (and can't generate that many shots), it's even worse.
It's marginally better if you have some rerolls or bonuses, but mostly it's an exercise in more pointless dice rolling.
jhnbrg wrote:I cant see how "dakka, dakka, dakka" will ever be worth spending a CP on, it might give one extra shot or two on a full loota squad but otherwise?
Yea its abit underwhelming but, using it on tankbustas? seems decent to me - 1 more rocket at 6+, and they have reroll failed hits against vehicles, 10 tankbustas would mean roughly.. 3 more rockets and of those 1 more hit? for just 1 cp

So, the Tau rumor is certainly something. Hopefully this doesn't come across as just more incessant QQing about Tau, but bear with me cause these seem odd.
Warlord Traits. We get 2 of them. Ok, cool.
1. re-roll failed to hit rolls if they (presumably the warlord) did not move this turn.
2. Warlord may advance and shoot as if they have not moved.
Ummmm, what? These are literally copy-pasted from Commander's Master of War abilities. Like, word for word copied, only they are an always on buff for the Warlord only rather than being a once per game aura buff. Ignoring just how lazy that is for a moment, these don't seem amazingly useful. Both are useless if your Warlord is an Ethereal as they have no guns, so that kinda sucks. They are moderately useful on a Fireblade, especially when combined with the strategem we get (more on that later), as a 2+ rerolling if you don't move or advance and move and still hit on a 2+ for a markerlight (d3+1 with the strategem) is actually kinda useful, even if MLs aren't good right now. As for Commanders, well the first one is not amazing on them. Sure a 2+ rerollable to hit is great, but very few the guns Commanders can take have the range to make sitting still worthwhile. Only MPs have the range to make this anything more than a situational option on them, and those are so overcosted they aren't worth considering right now (maybe if MPs get a points drop in CA as well, we can talk about that then). Every other gun is so short ranged we can't sit still while we use them. The 2nd one is a bit better, as it lets us keep the 2+ to hit while making Commanders more maneuverable, but since most Commander builds want to Manta Strike in, they won't get it for a full turn. Coldstars might like it (40" move a turn is pretty crazy), but a regular Commander doesn't really want this one, especially since the builds that could make use of it are essentially suicide units, meaning giving it to them is basically giving your opponent a Warlord kill for free.
Relic. Alright lets have a look.
Once per game, reroll a single hit, wound, or damage roll for the bearer or a friendly unit within 6". In addition, roll a d6 anytime your opponent uses a strategem, on a 6 gain 1CP.
Ok, well, honestly it could be worse. Don't get me wrong it could be a LOT better, but it could be worse. A free reroll a game without using a CP isn't terrible, throw it on a Quad Fusion Commander and get 2 rerolls with them instead of just the 1 from the strategem. And depending on the army you're playing, you could be getting a lot of CPs back from the second half of the relic. Sure its only on a 6, but a 16% chance to get a CP everytime my opponent uses a strategem for free? Sure why the hell not, we're CP starved enough as is, no harm in this. Far from the best relic we could have seen, but not the worst thing imaginable.
Strategem. Ok, here's the 8th edition moneymakers, what do we get?
Use when an enemy unit is hit my a markerlight. gain d3+1 ML on the unit.
....Ok GW. Thank you for acknowledging that the ML table is stupid and useless due to the difficulty of getting enough MLs off. But seriously, this is your solution? How many CP do I have to spend on this? If its only 1, I'm ok with that, but if its 2 then this is not worth it. Assuming this is d3+1 MLs in place of the normal 1 ML and not in addition to the 1 ML, then we get a max of 4 ML from this. Tau want 1 or 5 ML on a target, 2 is useless cause Seeker Missiles suck, 3 isn't reliable enough to make proper use of, and 4, while good, is situational. If this is in addition to the normal ML hit, then great, potentially getting 5 ML from one shot is awesome. If not, I don't know if I'll be making a lot of use of this one. Sure throwing it on a Fireblade when he starts the ML show could be great as it takes pressure off my Drones and Pathfinders, but again it depends on the cost of the strategem. Again, not a great showing for Tau in CA, but I suppose it could be worse.
Overall, not the best showing for Tau in CA if these rumors are true. A strategem that is interesting and kinda useful, depending on the cost. A relic that is extremely blase and generic, but is worth taking since its free and we have no other options. Might as well use it. But the real kick in the teeth is the Warlord Traits. They took the unique buff that Commanders ALREADY HAD and just turned it into 2 self-buffing Warlord Traits. Space Marine Players, imagine if you got a Trait that was reroll 1s to hit or to wound, something your HQs already natively have. Necron players, imagine if your Trait was My Will Be Done on himself? You'd be fairly pissed at such a wasted trait, right? That is how Tau players are feeling right now. Actually useless of Ethereals, very meh on Commanders (either have to take overpriced weapons or basically give up Slay the Warlord for free), potentially useful on Fireblades as ML sticks, but outside of that not amazing.
Hopefully this isn't the best our codex has in store for us, and hopefully we get major points adjustments in CA, cause these rumors aren't exciting at all for Tau so far.
