Suspect they've brought these forward due to the slip up earlier!

It is crazy how much better the Custodes look without their silly pointy hats.

Super curious what their rules are.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

Well... I suppose that is the first custodian unit that I actually don't like (Valdor taking the honor of the first custodian model though!). Pass. It's a little too birdmen from that 80's Flash Gordon movie for me personally and I suspect that was the original inspiration for this. YMMV.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Yeah, same. I don't get why they apparently forgot to put half their armour on - if the Imperium can make jump packs capable of lifting the ridiculous lunks from the Primaris range, you think they'd be able to manage something for their super-duper-leet bodyguard guys.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Next week, we'll get the bare-chested Custodes from the old artwork.

Look much more like jet packs to me- they appear to be hovering rather than leaping!

That's a really good point. Why would that thing ever be on the front lines?

Not every game has to be a pitched battle on the front lines. It might have been ambushed before it could deploy, or caught up in a raid at it's HQ...

There's a great bit in Starship Troopers about how they're taught close combat because they're used to kill the enemy before the enemy can push the big red button of doom.

As I've said before, it's best to think of them as 2 guys operating out of a garage, throwing darts at a board.

I'm definitely interested in flying custodes. Talons of the Emperor soon, I hope? I've been losing faith that it's happening at all.

These models are just absolutely amazing in every way. Good lord I love these things.

I just hope there’s an option to have all close combat. I don’t need no janky pistols in my army.

They've said before they don't like previewing everything because they want to surprise people from time to time.

You couldn't be more wrong!
But I agree, this ones would look very cool with a smaller winged helmet similar to the Saggitarius ones.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

They're really cool models, I especially like the guns, but was (relatively) lightly armoured jump troops really something Custodes needed or makes sense for to have even?

"Relatively"- probably still at least a 3+

I reckon they will be incredibly agile- those jetpacks look very manouevrable.

Custodes spend a not-inconsiderable amount of time sneaking around in stealth bodysuits, so I think they are totally at home fighting in lighter, more agile armour.

They're still way more heavily armoured than the traditional Custodes.

Do you mean the old artwork?

If you look closely at these new models, they have no plating over their thighs and upper arms, so they do seem to be remarkably lightweight compared to other Custodes models. Almost like the Custodes version of Scout armour.

My immediate reaction was "Why is a human standing next to some Eldar?" Excellent. I have to say, I am rather glad they have moved away from what can only be described as a gladiator aesthetic.

The Vertus Praetors had lighter armor too in case anyone hadn't noticed.

That's not that surprising that there's Custodes with lighter armor, outside of the Jojo Pillar Men.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Not a fan of the bald heads or the color scheme, hope the rules are good. Or ever better, hope GW releases a better plastic model like they did for the FW Jetbikes.

It's exactly the same armor as the 40K Vertus Praetors are wearing. Which I am slightly disappointed in, I'd prefer these guys in full golden plate.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
