Despite that the terrain is less interactive (less elevation, walkways, etc), I absolutely love the idea of troops battling it out in a supply yard. It takes me back to a bunch of bad 80s action movies where there is inevitably a gun fight in a port.

It look boring but it definitely more interactive than other terrain. The container can mount storm bolter. The barrels can explode. And ammo crate everywhere.

Do we know if the cards in the Genestealer box can be used with GSC teams or only for Tyranid teams?

Or this. Looks like it would have been pretty easy to make them actually line up...

I didn't catch that, thanks for letting me know. That gives me even more reason to go this way.

I bet the back of the Sector Munitorum board tiles in the other direction. They seem to be pretty on the ball about that kind of stuff so far.

The Sector Mechanicus Killzone is quite a substantial discount.

It's basically 42% off without factoring in the cards/booklet/board, and that's before I find it at a discounter.

Quite impressed by that. I need one more set of Plasma Conduits before I start my "Industrial Insanity" project, and I figure I might as well get them in this and pick up an Alchomite Stack and a Ferratonic Incinerator (which you can't buy at the moment anyway) while I'm at it.

The cards included are the tyranids tactic set. No they are not compatible, confirmed by 40ks Facebook page

GW have said a lot of things:

Its about Elite units - no Veteran guard
Its about light infantry only - Hey Lictors and Warriors, aledgedly ThunderWolves
Plastic only so you can make custom models - but we don't want you to kitbash
Stealth is important - no Mandrakes or Scoripons but here's a guardian unit with grav artillery sneaking about.
No Jum Pack - well unless you are Tau.

But hey you can pretend X unit is really Y unit.

Sadly they have ruled out even the most basic of changes to the set up of the copy/paste 40k units - if they don't come boxed (and even then maybe not - already seen stupidity like no medics for Guard! ) they won't do rules for it. So all the Guard variations are cosmetic - no oh so obvious options like carapace armour, camo cloaks etc etc etc

Shame really as this sort of skirmish game would have been the perfect palce for fun equipment and additions. Of course there will be some who just say "wait its coming - mainly those whose factions are in the initial release and likely the same who said -

Stop moaning we have our stuff and the Sisters/Orks/etc Codex will along soon. probably...well actually we don't really care if its not.

Still at least the Rogue Trader box set shows they are making interesting new stuff.

This sums up my feelings pretty well. There's nothing wrong with building a product on limited constraints due to necessity...Shadespire was a hit for me, even though it was cobbled together from whatever random push-fit kits were in the production queue already. Kill Team feels a little different though...it's not small pre-set warbands, so it makes very little sense to me why units like Striking Scorpions are left out in favor of Guardians with heavy weapons platforms. You don't want close-combat aspects on a covert mission in a city? I'm sure others could point out other iconic units strangely absent from the rules. The more I look at Kill Team, the more it seems like an excuse to get double-duty off of sales of existing plastic sets....good business, but I'm going to take a wait and see approach with reviews before I jump in.

Maybe they didn't include Striking Scorpions because they're finally getting a plastic kit in the next 18 months and they wanted to include them then? I mean, they have to make plastic aspect warriors at some point, right?

Right?

Now that people have access to the rule book I was wondering how many differences are from SWA to the new Kill team.

No weapon Templates
Close Combat is now just rolled off the WS stat; instead of adding WS to die roll and comparing.
Ready Action
Turns are now single model back and forth like bolt action.

Here is what I have picked up so far.. what else is there??

I don't know - with the recent re-imagining of the Count's coach, I'm hopeful GW will be taking look at Aspect Warriors. Especially since I was just able to find the various metal exarch (Banshee, Striking Scorpions, Reaper) buried at a nearby FLGS...I mean, now that my collection's compete, its time to buy it all over again, right?

It is really odd that Scorpions were left out when Guardians can take the Grav mounted heavy weapon.....especially as Guard can't take much smaller heavy weapons. Maybe GW just didn't want to put two finecast kits in faction (as I believe most finecast is direct only)?

As for plastic Aspects (beyond the Avengers and Spears), I would absolutely love to see some...particularly Scorpions and Spiders. I wonder if GW hasn't made any because the number of plastic kits? Six kits would be pretty outrageous for specialized elites (especially as it would feel cheap to put some in plastic and leave the others in finecast). I suppose they could maybe make three dual kits. Maybe Scorpions/Dragons, Spiders/Reapers, Hawks/Banshees? Anyways, I'll stop hypothesizing and just keep my fingers crossed.

Shadow war's rules came from the old necromunda roles, which themselves came from 2nd edition 40k. The new Kill Team is much like 8th edition 40k. They're both GW so may be more alike than other games, but they're as different as two GW games can be.

With the rise of the easy to build wave in cheap colored-plastic. I'd assume if GW are gonna remake the almost no option aspect warriors, this would be their directions. I wouldn't expect GW to be creative and add something more to the old warrior to fill up for a proper multi-part kit release.

I could see some easy to build kits for the Aspects Chopstick. That would actually be really cool, as the easy to build kits from Dark Imperium and forward all look really nice and tend to be reasonably priced.

This would be the perfect game to use to update some older kits as splash releases and bump the value up with some terrain. Hopefully Inquisition get some line updates to tie in with Rogue Trader and we see an Imperial Agents codex to wrap up Assassins too.

Unfortunately if they released Ez-2-Bild Aspect kits, it would mean they would lose some of the already-sparse options that they currently have.

Selling different game boards for Kill Team is a wonderful idea. Maybe not gold digging one (i would love to see statistics in the future) but certainly something original.

Agreed Dedwoods, this game gives GW a lot of excuses to expand factions with a single box or a very small release. I would love plastic Inquisition, even just an acolyte kit or a handful of monopose stuff like Rogue Traders are getting. BrookM did say earlier in the thread that during Warhammer TV the reps mentioned possibly working on Inquisition as a next project.

That's a good point HMBC, though at this point I'd just be happy to see new Aspects (though some of them still hold up pretty well sculpt wise).

So far, the savings made on the Kill Zones previewed make them well worth picking up.

The Munitorum set saves you €47,50 over buying it all separately (and before discounters swoop in with even better deals), not counting the printed materials and map also included on top of that.

Ditto on the team starters, while not as massive as the Kill Zones, they're still good deals and probably not just aimed at new players, but also at veterans who would like to try a new faction, but never had a real reason to do so before.

So, it's comparable to the changes between Warhammer 40,000 2nd edition and 8th?
