Papa-Schlumpf wrote:Has somebody already compared the value of Killzone: Sector Mechanicus to its components? How big is the discount?

It's hard to calculate the actual value of contents because it varies on the Sector Mechanicus sets, but Killzone contains full set of Thermic Plasma Conduits (30e), and six frames of Sector Mechanicus scenery which can be valued at about 15e each. That puts it at roughly 50% discount. Even if you completely ignore Thermic Plasma Conduits, it's still easily the best value of Sector Mechanicus frames (until now the best value has been Ferratonic Incinerator with 4 frames for 45e).

I would not expect for any of the new terrain to be in starter sets. The existing terrain pieces they been putting in there likely because those kits have made their money back on the production costs and can now more easily be bundled at a lower price point.

Why would it be declared as a kill team starter then that makes no sense? No after seeing two future starters using the crate terrain I see no reason they wouldn't continue the trend of boxing the terrain with a unit

Edit: sorry I see what youre saying now, including new kits of terrain in the starters. I would agree but I honestly believe the deathworld stuff will be bundled, at the very least as a killzone so they'll be taking some hits to get the terrain out there. Especially with the deluge of terrain being put in peoples hands right now im fairly certain they'll want to put out "samples" in the starters to get people to complete a whole killzone of that variety

I think the "samples" of the new Imperialis terrain is basically what is being included in the core starter box. You've got a stripped down basilicanum without the statues and several sprues of ruins.

Again, I think the already existing terrain will be bundle in a variety of ways, and from the original Kill Team announcement trailer we know Death Worlds are included in that. That terrain sold horribly when released, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a huge value on that terrain set when they release it.

While on the subject of the starter sets, I'm a little annoyed they cheaped out on the munitorum crates in the starter sets and only bundled 2 instead of the 3 that come in the stand alone kit. Not a huge deal, but just brings down the value of those bundles.

It may be due to box size. Space Wolf and Ork starter sets come with two frames of terrain as well. Also, the box size may limit the units to those that are on 2-sprue frames - hence Burnas instead of Boyz and Pathfinders instead of Fire Warriors.

Speaking of starter sets, I don't think we are going to see any Deathworld Forest items (including Eldritch Ruins) in any starter sets because most of their parts do not come in sprues.

@jullevi: Thanks for the calculation. This helps me and hopefully others a lot.

@dudeface: Correct, I want to use a small raiding party of kabalite warriors. I´m currently not a big fan of wyches. I hope they will make other standard troops playable over time. Or I have to do it myself.
Also this means, that the DE box will contain wyches.

I´m really curios about the upcoming Killzones and like the idea of a small, ready battlefield out of the box, which fits almost every kitchen table. The big 6x4 battlefields are sometimes hard to realize at home.

Love to see come to the 40K game, but would almost be disappointed to see them come to Killzone. I suppose they could make as many as 5 different units released for the faction, or as few as one. And since GW has said over and over again this game is about light infantry and not dinosaurs.

GW have said a lot of things:

Its about Elite units - no Veteran guard
Its about light infantry only - Hey Lictors and Warriors, aledgedly ThunderWolves
Plastic only so you can make custom models - but we don't want you to kitbash
Stealth is important - no Mandrakes or Scoripons but here's a guardian unit with grav artillery sneaking about.
No Jum Pack - well unless you are Tau.

But hey you can pretend X unit is really Y unit.

Sadly they have ruled out even the most basic of changes to the set up of the copy/paste 40k units - if they don't come boxed (and even then maybe not - already seen stupidity like no medics for Guard! ) they won't do rules for it. So all the Guard variations are cosmetic - no oh so obvious options like carapace armour, camo cloaks etc etc etc

Shame really as this sort of skirmish game would have been the perfect palce for fun equipment and additions. Of course there will be some who just say "wait its coming - mainly those whose factions are in the initial release and likely the same who said -

Stop moaning we have our stuff and the Sisters/Orks/etc Codex will along soon. probably...well actually we don't really care if its not.

Still at least the Rogue Trader box set shows they are making interesting new stuff.

That was me wishlisting, because Nurgle poisoning Exodite worlds has appeared a couple of times in the fluff, and would be a good match up. Hence why I went with Craftworlders.

I agree Exodites would make a great Harlequin-sized force, but Kill Team would be an excellent way for them to gage interest (similar to the Rogue Trader upcoming expansion I reckon).

We don't - the poster in question was asking about using four of the KT boards to make a 40K size board. Unfortunately they just don't really combine like that.

Ah thank you. Know it makes sense.

I think they mean to use it for regular 40k.

The real question is why the Sector Mechanicus board doesn't have a tesselating SM back (no 3/4 player SM tables), and instead has a third imperial board that still only lines up vertically. Does this mean that Sector Munitorium will have a 4th one, and you can just line up 4 boards vertically to create a 88"x30" table?

Actually, now that I think of it, have there been any impressions of 3/4 player Kill Team yet?

That would be cool but unless the pictures on the GW site are wrong they only sort of line up.

Why do you think kabalites won't be in the game?

We already know Kabalites are in the game. Kabalites and Wyches are the Dark Eldar choices.

Despite the Sector Mechanicus terrain being much more impressive than the Munitorium terrain, I think I'm going to end up picking up the Munitorium set instead (it helps I already have a set and I'll be picking up the Scions box). Despite that the terrain is less interactive (less elevation, walkways, etc), I absolutely love the idea of troops battling it out in a supply yard. It takes me back to a bunch of bad 80s action movies where there is inevitably a gun fight in a port.

I also think the terrain will match in a bit better on the Sector Imperialis as scatter terrain.

I'm really stoked for this game, I've watched a few battle reports and it looks right up my alley.
