Okay, also not worth it. Corbec is a Colonel, not a sergeant and Larkin has a BS of 4+..? Horrible.

Glad to see they included the camo cloaks - oh wait...

I'd rather people be complaining about these super rare things being underpowered, rather than people thinking they're OP and GW doesn't release them to the world at large.

Could you imagine the scramble to buy up those models and cards off of ebay if they were OP or at least halfway decent? God the rage would be unending.

There's no way in hell the Last Chancers would be allowed in a tournament setting so I don't think that would matter too much.

I'm very happy that now:

Intercessors can use an auspex (not just tactical marines)

Miltarum Tempestus Scions can actually take Grenade launchers.

I was sure this was a genuine mistake that they were not included so good to now have both of these options as they come in the kits.

Only downer is that the Intercessor auxilliary grenade launcher is affected by long range but tbh that's fair,

Hurray! Also regular Guardsmen can now be Medics, Special Weapons Squad Guardsmen can no longer be Comms, and a Scion Comms needs to have a vox caster (hilariously also immediately invalidating one of the specialists in the AM Kill Team starter box).

The question if Deathwatch gunners can take close combat weapons alongside their Frag Cannon/Infernus HB has now also been solved: they can not.

FAQ for Guard has them being able to take a hotshot laspistol and vox-caster in addition to their hotshot lasguns.

Yeah, it's just that one of the specialists in the AM starter is Comms, but doesn't have a vox caster - so, he is now illegal.

Change to:
‘Scanner:
Once per Shooting phase, if this model is not shaken, when you pick another model from your kill team within 6" of this model to shoot, you can add 1 to hit rolls for that model in this phase.’

Previously it said "a" model, I believe, which had many using the scanner ability on the comms model itself. With that no longer possible, that is probably the end of comms specialists with fancy guns, and they become dedicated support figures.

To be clear:

Q: In the Take Prisoners mission, if one of my models takes an
enemy model out of action with a ‘final attack’, e.g. by using
the Only In Death Does Duty End Tactic, is the enemy model
captured even though my model is then taken out of action, as
long as all the other conditions for being captured are fulfilled?
A: Yes.

This means that my opponent could have his warlord konk mine over the head, but since Only In Death Does Duty end, I have a chance to konk him over the head and capture him as well..

I have this mental image of a very pissed off Eldar Farseer and Marine Sargent sitting in seperate sacks waiting to see who's grunts get there to pick them up first...

I’ve been doing that with the Comms specialist already. Him being the spotter for my Transarquebus. Giving him an Omnispex negates obscuring penalties and adds +1 to Hit gives the Arquebus Ranger a 2+ To Hit on the regular.

I’m struggling to understand the pricing on these starter sets. £30 would have been OK for the Necrons one,the same as drukhari and AM but £37.50 isn’t such a good deal.

The Necron one is the worst one so far. In Australia, it's the same price as puchasing the models / scenery separately - every other set has had a discount (such as deathwatch) almost had the models in there for free.

Yeah, GW is not treating Necron players very well.

On the other hand, the Tau set has the best pricing

The purpose of these sets is not to provide a discount, but to give players new to a faction an easy starting point - which is where the price point comes from. They probably wouldn't want to make the starters vary too much in price. Can you imagine the complaining they would get if the Tau starter was $20 more than the Necron starter?

In this instance it seems that Necron players will be subsidizing the Tau discount

Do you mean in terms of weight of plastic? Or are Tau just better in-game? (sorry, I'm not familiar with the system, though I've been through decades of the vagaries of GW pricing).

The Tau might be the best priced, team-box based on contents original MSRP. I think the Necron is the worse. They probably should have been priced $70 and $50 respectively (as we have seen different prices for these team boxes), but instead we got $60/$60. But what do I know...

But they already have two levels of these kill team sets - £37.50 (Space marines, Orks, Deathwatch, Necrons, Tau) and £30 (Imperial Guard, Tyranids, Dark Eldar). The Necron set could have gone for the £30 and still carried less of a discount than the Tau set has...

DarrinTheOccult wrote:

For this time, yes - but overall, the Deathwatch team has the most significant discount (though, it is for the "Barbed Venomgorse", which is probably quite overpriced to begin with!)

This is true. I didn't realize it was at the more expensive price point. All I can guess is that maybe the Wall of Martyrs terrain is pushing it to the next pricing tier, or maybe it really is subsidizing the Tau box. Maybe GW knows that Necron are easier to paint, so they'll lose money on paint pots?

But then, the Tau set should be even more expensive... it's baffling, it is!

How awful is it they put the kill team logo on the 6-side of the dice and the faction logo on the 1s?

Is this a joke? How can you tell what each logo is supposed to represent?

Just call the faction logo the 6...

From the January 2019 FAQ:
Q: Is the faction logo on Kill Team dice a six or a one?
A: You and your opponent should roll a D6 at the start of battle. On a 4+ the faction logo is a 6. If you get a faction or kill team logo on your roll, re-roll until you get a result that you can read.

Thanks, it was interesting to know. Although as I'm not that enthused by the Barbed Venomgorse in my Deathwatch starter it does not feel like a discount.
