Considering Space Marines don't even have a full plastic line of non-special characters (close, but not quite, kind of like Tau), lets calm down with the mind losing here.

Peoples negativity really confuses me.
They just announced so much new stuff. Seriously more in this one announcement than would be a whole years worth of releases with old GW a few years ago. So what if its not something you are interested in, other people are, and the new stuff will benefit you because you will be playing against them.
Also, are you people even hearing yourselves? They release like a codex a month. Sometimes with new models and sometimes without. How is this a bad thing? there is still a half a year left, and almost all the imperial factions are done. Also didn't we just get 3 xenos codes in a row? And a new box set with no marines? How is that only focusing on imperial armies? 4 out of the last 6 are xenos.
Who cares if there are no new models. GW doesn't owe you anything. Be happy with the models you have? There is no need for updated models, only a want for them. We are so spoiled in this hobby and we don't even know it. We are in a golden age right now.
The negativity and selfishness of this community is off the charts.
Anyways, I am excited for the new stuff! I have a knight, so I might pick up the new big guy someday. Sisters never really interested me, but if the models look good than who knows, I might start some. The fishmen are cool looking, AOS has some awesome stuff nowadays. List builder app finally! Ive been interested in both shadespire and silver tower, so I am interested to see where those go. I hope the Hari codex lets you take some more units from the eldar/dark eldar without having ally. It prolly wont tho.

No, GW is releasing about the same number of kits, they're just publicizing them much, much better. So what if its not something you are interested in, other people are, "You should not be disappointed that no models are being released for your armies, because GW has not stopped producing models altogether". and the new stuff will benefit you because you will be playing against them.

Who cares if there are no new models. I do? GW doesn't owe you anything. They're a model company, they owe me models if they want my money. Be happy with the models you have? I am. But I can't exactly paint them again. There is no need for updated models, only a want for them. Unless the model company wants to make money. The negativity and selfishness of this community is off the charts. There can be good and bad aspects about a company simultaneously. I am not required to either hate every decision they make or worship at their feet. I like the work their rules team is doing to get every faction rules, cool subfaction customization, and attempts to apply retroactive balance to armies. I like the work their miniature design team is doing on Age of Sigmar, every new faction tempts me more and more to get into a game that never interested me. The prioritization of their miniature design team for 40k puts me to sleep with the endless parade of imperial armies and minis. That is a combination of opinions that I am allowed to hold.

Realistically, outside of enthusiasm and celebration, the announcement of plastic Sisters was going to generate two reactions.
1) Some Sisters players would contrive to make it bad news.
2) Other faction players would complain that it wasn't them.

I'm genuinely happy we're getting Sisters. I don't play them, I likely won't play them, but I know a suite a players who do and even some who've been waiting on the sidelines for them before even getting involved in the hobby. My gripe is that the only other announcement was yet another Imperial release (Knight). I don't classify 'oh hey we're getting updated codexes you knew were coming' as much of an announcement. This would be better if Adeptus Custardes and another (imperial) Knight chasis weren't what we got last time. This all being after GW touted 2018 as the 'Year of the Xenos'.

Not gonna argue with people, but You choose to spend your money on their plastic. GW doesn't force you to. You pay what you are willing to pay.
And no, they don't owe you anything. Its called a business. If they want to make money they will make what they think people will buy. You don't get to tell them what they can and cant make. Its up to them to make the decision based on buying habits, you can influence that with what you buy. If they don't sell anything you want, don't spend your money on it? Its not that hard.
And for what its worth, I have barely played any games in 8th. Ive been playing and collecting since second edition though. I just made a account on here recently to buy something.
Also you don't agree that this is the best time to be in the miniature war gaming hobby? I would argue its better than its ever been before. Thats what I mean by spoiled. Obviously the plastic is way too expensive
Of course there are going to be models that you have no interest in and wont buy. And of course you'd be disappointed that your favorite army hasn't been updated. I will probably not buy anything they just announced, maybe the knight, haven't decided. I'm disappointed that my favorite armies didn't get anything, but that doesn't mean I am not happy and excited for the stuff they revealed.
I agree that if GW wants money they will make all the things. But they are a smallish company that has limited resources. They have to prioritize what they think will be best for them and the community as a whole, not for what you, as a individual, wants.
Lastly don't you think our negativity has a bad impact on this community as a whole and on potential new players? How would a new player feel coming on here and seeing all the complaining, crying, and arguing? Bit of a turn off no?
Dont we want as many people in this hobby as possible? We all love the hobby for our own reasons, but we are all in this together and are on the same team.
Ill get off my soap box and will no longer post about this again.
Sorry to derail the thread

Not all three are released yet, but the previous wave of announcements confirmed Tau, Necrons, Dark Eldar as the three Codexes to be released. One is out, one is on pre-order, and I imagine the third will be in the next couple of weeks.
I've seen a few people mention this, but is there actually a source where GW claimed 2018 was this Year of the Xenos?

IMO, those are just Black Reach Deffkoptas. They have the same rokkits on the front, a similar profile, and very similar propellers. Unless the plan is to re-release that model as a proper kit (which would be great!), I don't think those are new models.
I don't recognize the walker, though. My official guess will be that it's some kind of looted/converted Dreadknight or Penitent Engine.

Interestingly, wait time doesn't appear to be a factor. In days gone by, people (rightfully) complained when they waited years for a new codex. Now, people wait for mere months (8th edition is still less than a year old), and they complain just the same.

This is some serious Koolaid right here. GW don't owe us anything, no. If they want me as a consumer to continue paying money for models they need to release models that I'm interested in though. It's pretty simple. I'm not going to spend money on models I don't want. I'm glad you like enough factions that you can get hyped by this news, or that you would start another army based solely off the look of the models. For me, SOB are never going to be of interest. The same goes for most of the model releases this year.
People are upset because there is a massive, staggering discrepancy between which lines get model releases. Those who are only interested in the factions that get few or no releases are right to feel upset at this. The alternative is they walk. I'm sure GW would rather they vent, continue to buy paints and other hobby supplies at least while they wait for new models.
Personally I'm getting sick and tired of all the model releases being Imperium or Chaos. It bores me. GW keep telling me I need to get hyped for this "massive, biggest ever reveal" and I'm over here like "is that IT?" It's deflating and it's happened time and time again. I was more excited for the Gathering Storm. The return of the actual Primarchs is something we've never seen before and for me is/was huge. Plastic Sisters? New Knights? That's nice I suppose if you're into either army. I mean Knights just got a new fething model like 2 weeks ago but whatever.
Index vs Codex is also no fun. No fun at all. Even if you win, it's boring. There is no variety, no nuance, no tactical decisions to be made. My buddies with codexes actually have interesting decisions to make, particularly with regards stratagem usage and I'm over here like "do I take 150 Boyz or 180 Boyz"?
If you can't understand why that is boring, why it might put someone off the hobby then simply imagine yourself to be in the shoes of someone (like me) who has had no new models and his primary army is still without a codex. There's only so long you can feed of the hype of others before it becomes hollow and empty. That time is passed.

Here's a thought: if you ask me, Squats are awkward as a faction, in both the fluff and crunch sense. I say, if they want to add Space Dwarfs to 40k, the thing to do would be to flesh out the Demiurg. It's a Xenos race, so the anti-Imperial-release folks are happy: it's an opportunity to try for a more distinct visual style than the generic Imperial auxiliaries that old squats look like, something like they did with Kharadron Overlords: and if they felt skittish about making them a complete standalone faction, they could team them up with T'au like they do in Battlefleet Gothic.

Squats seem more likely than Demiurg because they can sell the former to Space Marine players as Allies.

I hate it when the thing you want to hear the least, is also completely true.
You never know: maybe we've finally hit the peak of GW disproportionately focusing the entire game on Space Marines? It's the era of plastic Sisters, anything is possible!

It's a Dakka inevitability. A Dakkitability if you will.

I think this maybe be relevant for some people on the States. I haven't seen people talk about it.
Warhammer cafe is wanting to sell Forge World as well as have Warhammer World style displays here in the states

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Not after the sales success of Gulliman and Tall!Marines we haven't.

Certainly you understand that this is because Orks don't sell, people are just not interested in them. It makes sense for GW to dedicate their resources to popular lines such as Sisters of Battle, rather than wasting their time on niche stuff like Orks.

All that would be fine, I suppose, but there is a Squat over in Necromunda land now...
But I do like the whole Demiurg angle, though I'd love it if they could be separate from the T'au too.

Which line is currently in metal again? They even said on stream that Slaanesh Sisters would be "far too niche".
Are you generally trying to claim that there's less Ork players than SOB? Or is this a poor attempt at trolling by some delicate SOB wildflower, offended that anyone dare suggest their army hasn't sold historically? I'm guessing the latter.
Enjoy the wait till 2019 though. Excuse me while I just start priming my PLASTIC Dakkajet along with my PLASTIC Boyz and PLASTIC bikes.

See, you're obviously fine and don't need any new models! Enjoy your dakkajets!
