What this does show though is something we all already knew. That is that for how much you pay your marines still die like flies. I really do think normal killteams will be entirely obsolete compared to Primaris. For a slight point increase you get a big boost in survivability and superior firepower.

The deep strikers were a Trygon and a unit of regular Warriors on foot. The cannon-beasts were Exocrines.
As far as I can see, Ceri played an entirely competent attack, combined forces where appropriate, used her limited deep striking to disrupt rather than to alpha strike, and walked all over her opposition because the other player forgot everything except the sound FX.

To be fair...
If I had to use the studio army and it was THAT bad, I'd be trying to have the same kinda fun with the sound effects.

Studio painter time is expensive. You definitely don't want them to be painting up hundreds of models for a twitch demo. It's fun to see the ways companies get the most out of the painter timecards. My two favorite are from PP. For one only paints one of each unique model in a unit and takes it at a slightly different angle to photoshop in to fill the unit. The other was that at one point, the studio Magnus1 model was only painted on one side. For some reason they didn't fix this when they added the 3D rotations for everything, so when you flipped him around you found the completely unpainted back half of the model.

That's literally never been the case. They have what is painted up for showcasing in the army book and that's all. Wouldn't that mean that they won't have an effective army to showcase the rules? I mean, there are better ways to go about this, aren't there? Also, weren't Deathwatch models released a couple of years ago? Surely they would have added more to the initial showcase?

Really sad to hear you have to pay points for bolt pistols. That is almost always going to serve as a point extra tax on all your models. Lame.

BoLS has the SIA list now. Limit on AP is fine and probably good, but makes Stalker Rifles not worth it. More exciting is that SIA is now on a bunch of weapons it didn't use to be including finally having it on Storm Bolters.

Eh that Bolt Pistol doesn't totally suck now. I don't mind paying a point on the Intercessors for that.

Special ammo is only +1pt (or +2 for stormbolters/combi bolters.) And mixing unit types in squads is better access to special rules than any chapter trait. So basically there is no reason to take a marine detachment and not have them be Death Watch. Even more so if they are Primaris. I don't know if DW + Guard will be tournament tier, but it'll certainly be a solid list. This seems like a good way to sell a lot of Primaris for Imperial Soup. Which I don't necessarily mind, I just hope we see SM and CSM brought up to this level.
Codex SM and CSM need complete re-writes at this point. They need chapter traits/strats that are capable of competing with special ammo and DW special rules.

Eh yes? Who said they have effective armies on the studio? This has been case for DECADES. They have smallish amount of each unit. Studio painters aren't free and there's only so many guys one guy CAN paint and they have constant stream of new units to paint.
They just want some guys of each unit to be used for promo pictures. Whether that's effective army is irrelevant as it's not MEANT to be good army.
As it is good army is directly opposed to having army that can be used to photograph each unit in the codex as good army would be spamming few subsection of unit a lot leaving others empty...
It was revelead they don't even have ~4000 pts of ORKS and that's pretty darn impressive feat seeing it's fairly easy to do that just by having one of everything. Look at my sig and see size of my army. That's not even containing 1 unit of everything and apart from boyz(7x30) and killa kans(11) not that much same unit spam. But then again studio probably has like 5 stormboyz, 5 lootas, 5 burnas, 5 tank bustas just to showcase but any ork player can say that if you take those you NEED more than 5. Well you don't really want to take lootas or burnas but studio army has to have those for photographs so they are there and are taking points.
And yes they were released year(s) ago. Means they didn't have more releases to paint for photography thus no need to add to army. Thus army is whatever it was when it was released. They don't paint new units just for fun. No models released(or for some other reason need new models painted for photographs like different chapter for say new space marine codex), no models painted. They have their hands full painting new models as it is.

If Rubrics went down to like 13pts and got some stratagems then we'd be talking. Right now Rubrics and DW intercessors cost the same, and inferno bolts are nowhere near as good.
At this point i'd like to see Cult Marines just get redone with Primaris equivalent stat lines.
