If you have a very well established vendor and a time based early bird discount you're going to see that kind of front loaded results. I'm still undecided, but I'll at least download the rulebook they posted and see how it looks.

Certainly is!
The game being offered is still not worth $130 shipped though, despite having raised a million dollars. Small companies can offer similar numbers of miniatures and components for 1/8 the funding total...
In my experience these campaigns are all about momentum, and once it is lost it is difficult to regain.

All those backers are probably people like us who tend to haunt KS and hobby websites. Things have ground to a halt since then, despite an expansion already being offered up.

The more I really look at some of these sculpts too, the more I'm left scratching my head. Something about their weapons and poses does seem off.

I get the need to make single piece molds/ models, but there were plenty of single piece models in both Rising Sun, Blood Rage, and plenty of other CMON campaigns that looked significantly better.

Time will tell....

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

A lot of them are just mirroring the original artwork from years ago like the two unlocked rangers. Lydana, though, is only the really off one too me. It is odd to me the very common complaints about the minis as I just don't see the "flatness" people are complaining about or the poses. Maybe it's just because I'm more familiar with the art. People were really complaining about the goblins designs from the first add on and they're ripped right out of one of the RPG books.

It is a bit sad that this has really grinded to a halt. This was the game CMoN had I was most exited for, I think, since they've done KSers. It's clearly a Solomon Kane issue for them. Lots more gameplay parts then minis and not explaining the game well at first. With the most recent update and the Q&A with Eric tomorrow I think things will be more clear. I hope they add some game play videos as there's a lot of requests for that (even just a 10 min walk through of a round or two) as a lot of people don't have the time to watch a hour long stream.

Though I think the oddest complaint is people wanting to get rid of the rune system for dice as the runes are "too random". Do they not know what dice are?

But there's a issue for sure with momentum. When they released the first add on they only needed about 10% of backers to "purchase it" to me the next streach goal. That was 2 days ago and I think we're only half way to it. Hopefully the next few SGs are smaller dollar amounts even if they're just "extra bonus figures already unlocked as a KS exclusive" Monolith used this a lot with Conan and Mythic Battles to keep things rolling.

I also think one of the reasons it's slowed is they have a 100k jump between these two current stretch goals. I don't really find that to be a good thing unless you're already at around +5M$, since it's too much of a jump between stretches.

The frequency of their stretch goals has been climbing by $10k every few goals. But the difference between the last 2 goals was $80k, now they jump to $100k? Seems odd, or they ran out of goals.

In any case, they need to step it up a bit, and narrow the distance between stretch goals. In a healthy high profile KS you should be killing one AT LEAST every other day.

Really hope they have a Massive Darkness crossover pack with these minis, or even a Zombiecide:BP would be fine too.

CMON lost a lot of goodwill during the Bloodborne KS, sometimes doubling shipping costs compared to previous KS. You could get a refund, but it cost 10% of your pledge, which meant that those who pledged $300+ lost $30+ on the KS.

I also suspect Trudvang isn't a popular IP (certainly less so than Cthulhu, Arcardia Quest, Zombicide, etc.), since it's based on an RPG that itself was KS'ed. Paul Bonner is known, but more by a hobby audience than a more general one.

Dunno how many of you are boardgamers, but Altar Quest and Middara (and Bloodborne) were KS'ed before Trudvang, and took in a lot of boardgamer money and attention.

I agree with Skull on the SG's. It's "realistic" (although how "realistic" SG's and funding are is quite questionable) that SG's goals become farther apart (since they also have to pay for "free" miniatures of the previous SG's for incoming backers), but, psychologically, it looks like you're paying more money for the same amount of stuff. fwiw, Neither Altar Quest nor Middara had SG's with goals becoming further apart.

The slowdown is especially troubling as the first add-on was a relatively ‘cheap’ one too, and not many seemed to have added it on.

Aye it ended on -27 backers and only took in $6.5k, that was only the 4th day and not what you should be seeing for someone like CMON!

Somebody needs to make a Kickstarter Manager game. I bet it would do well - as long as there were enough properly timed stretch goals.

I think what's happening of late is this:
CMON Kickstarters were always guaranteed to be a good deal at the end of the campaign. Even if the rules for the game were sub-par, at least the amount of models that made the pledge worth getting instead of at retail.

Now I'm not so sure. The 'deal' keeps shrinking, and with each subsequent KS, and the amount they have been charging for shipping lately, makes it seem like not so great of a deal. And other publishers at this point are offering better deals than CMON. When CMON used to be the kings of the KS deal, that's not a good sign.

This is becoming more apparent when smaller publishers are offering better games, quality sculpts, and reasonable shipping.
I suspect with all the competition out there on KS now, and smaller publishers taking a bite out of CMONs market share, that the smaller companies are winning out simply due to being able to work with a smaller margin.

Plus, I think the market is reaching a saturation point. I mean, how many of us out there need another game with hundreds of minis?

The full shelf struggle is real. But if practical concerns and the ability to say 'no' were a part of this equation most of us wouldn't own hardly any of these games in the first place.

I often think (only half jokingly) that these companies should give me a $20 voucher to look over their campaign for half an hour and tell them everything wrong with it. And save themselves hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost pledges. Sometimes it seems like 6 or even 7 figures are left on the table for want of a dozen more minis or properly spaced out stretch goals.

Art book as an add on for $35.

May just be the mockup but it looks exactly the same as the artbook that Riotminds KSered a few years ago (that I think is sold out).

I hear the kids today's latest trend is taking handfuls of last year's KS minis and chucking them off of overpasses.

The next stretch goal is up, it is another 50k stretch, so it will probably be another 3-4 days at the current pace before it is unlocked.
KS campaigns never disappoint for drama! This one just happens to be mostly intermission.

I don't blame them for making the dragon 50k as it's probably pretty big (a large number of unlocks are in this game) but they should have had a shorter stretch goal or two between.

They probably want to show off the dragon for Gencon to try and get a upswing in pledges then but they could have had one or two 10ks in there and still had the dragon to show off by next Thursday.

I believe there is one in the works somewhere as I am sure I saw Alessio C mention he was doing the rules, could be wrong though.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

I hope there’s options of playing different companies with different bonuses/drawbacks(Frantic Games - changes materials after conclusion of campaign, GOon- crushing cycle of campaigns, Prodont- changes shell company names biweekly)

Very glad to see the Tursir Ox make it to miniature form. This was always one of my favorite pieces of art from Trudvang!

Although, it says that there are 12 monsters in the expansion (which would include the Tursir Ox), all of it's descriptions and background say it isn't really an enemy. I'm really not sure how it will be used in game?

The poses seem to have gotten a little better also. I like this two in particular.

Well, I know that I'll probably add on $70 for the two expansions soon - I like them both and I can in no way resist a Norse-themed set for the Dwarves!

Though hopefully there's a Nidavellir/Svartalfheim expansion in the works too?

I fear you'll soon see paid expansions made out of what was originally inteneded to be stretch goal content like they did with Starcadia Quest

I'm actually quite surprised the expansion didn't stop the drop outs as it is pretty good

Did anybody watch the Eric Lang video? Was that a flop?

I remember watching the Early Bird clock run out a few days a go and thinking, "This is about to start sucking," and it has! Just like Solomon Kane. Interesting that CMON's approach is basically, 'if it founders it founders, we're not rushing to save anything.' Got a feeling I'll have $90 more dollars in my stupid spending fund for any other Kickstarters this year than if this campaign was good.

Losing both backers and money today:

CMON could turn this around if they wanted, but there doesn't seem to be much will for that on their part.
I'm guessing that we will get another add-on today to further open the wallets of the true believers. I'll likely be saving the $120 it will cost to get this to my house.

Boardgamers are...a weird bunch.

At least, they are harder to understand if you're more of a 'wargamer' or an "RPGer", if that makes sense?

Still, whatever!

I like what I see so far - and hopefully there's more good stuff to be released...
