GW has a fixed number of boxes to produce which means they ordered X amount of cardstock and books from China. The 2 week window is basically giving them an extra week of casting time to cast enough plastic to then pack and ship all that product in one big order at the end.

Don't think so. Everything I've ever heard from folks in games and distribution says these things come on the slow boats. They would've started moving into the distribution chain 2-3 weeks ago minimum, to hit a sales date at the end of the month. Especially the end of _this_ month.

They certainly aren't spending today tallying preorders for new casts.

Might be true unless they work by shipping overseas first with a fixed volume per region and then staggering production and producing the UK stock last. Using the first of the two weeks to produce the UK stock.

My ‘local’ store requires to make a registration of interest before they will sell, it’s looking like numbers are so small they can’t offer preorders. But also they say that GW rules mean they can’t say what numbers they are getting.

This extreme limited supply is a result of the lack of interest from Sisters in the past few years. If only Sisters players had been a little more vocal GW might have made a bigger release.

I’ve heard 10,000 sets allocated to the USA and a store could max order 30...

I think I got a box but I guess I won’t know for sure until the day of!

GW would have made more money if they simply accepted all pre-orders for this 2 week window and simply did a 'made to order' situation for any aditional copies that were ordered that could not be fill with their current limited stock. For some they may not get their boxes for a little while, however they would get the satisfaction knowing that they will in the end receive an item that they purchased.

Would they though? Because I'm pretty sure their bean counters have an idea of the cost of an open ended production run for the plastics let alone the codexes and cards that likely aren't done in house. Plus the actual packaging and everything else. They ordered a set number of product that they were sure would sell out thru the holiday and have the range set to release early next year. This box was JUST to keep their promise regarding having sisters release this year, well I'd say reasonably that's 50% of the reason for this box. But it can also serve as a test product to see how much of their initial main line production run they should have. I'd bet this is something they're doing to gauge interest to make sure they don't have another GSC situation.

I am sorry for any who didn't get a copy locked down. I should have my copy all set up through my FLGS. This has been a real mess for most concerned and I really wish GW would stop doing this so poorly.

I'd in fact love to see another company eat GWs lunch as the short comings in seeing demand seem to be a trend for them. Such actions get no good will from me and all I can say is I am sorry for any who waited so long to be denied, I'd be pissed off to be sure and I'm even a bit angry for my fellow players now.

This should be a good day when we are all Sisters players now, and instead its just a bitter pill for some and has to sour the joy with sadness for our friends.

The only good to be found later is, the models look great and the rules sound solid at least in time we can all appreciate that together.

Hang tough everybody.

We don't know what kind of moulds they used for this sprues, maybe the batch is limited by that. But I think it's obvious they spend money and ressources for an appropriate model range for Sisters so I doubt they would let this box decimate their sales of the new kits and the codex with selling it to everyone i.e. saturating the market. Bringing Sisters back was a huge risk in GWs eyes and I partly understand it.

If the new releases are good (and not tooo expensive...) I suppose the majority of the disappointed sisters fans will buy them and their grudge will wane.

My FLGS emailed me to ask me if I wanted a box. Even though I've basically been clean from GW purchases (other than contrast paint) for almost a year it took only about two minutes for me to say yes.

Between this and Warhammer Old World, it looks like I'm getting pulled back in.

God damn it. I mean it feels good, but god damn it.

Got my pre-order in. I’ve enjoyed debating the ups and downs of their development but overall I am more than pleased by what GW has turned out. Very excited to get my plastic Sisters at long last.

I hasten to add I feel really bad for thlse who have waited so long and for whatever reason cannot manage to get a copy of this box. That’s really terrible.

GW don't do the cards, so including them locked in the total number you could have at this date.

The two week pre-order is because they made a ton of sets, they've said as much on Facebook. Shipping this number of boxes is not one weekend's worth of orders, they knew it and allowed time for their logistics people to deal with it.
You'll notice that most stuff this week that went up for Preorder is getting shipped next Friday, the new 40K start collecting boxes and chaos Sorc are also waiting an extra week.

100% chance this has nothing to do with production and more the sheer number of Sisters boxes that need shipping. Dispatch just can't do it in one week.

Man, these boxes sold so well, GW should've made them twice as expensive. If they had been priced like Blood of the Phoenix or the Necromunda set, they'd still have plenty left...

People need to stop pointing to Blood of the Phoenix. It's not that the "deal" isn't there for BotP. It's that the they stocked the box with 2 new model sets that have poop rules, two characters that are middle of the road (but pretty), and a bunch of old kits that have been in untold boxsets. Necromunda should have been expected just because it's more niche and kinda a starter for necromunda people.

So missed out on a set myself but wasn’t totally sold on that box as can wait for the full release in a few months. But as a side note Anvil industry have their not sob range out next week or so.

I'm still amazed that GW just didn't change the preorder to a Made to Order run. Like, print X boxes for the preorders and then after all of those sold out start filling out Made to Orders. Sure, it'll take longer and the limited stock part is frustrating in the first place, but you'd think that after all of the hype and build-up they'd want to take advantage of their pr campaign.

Just imagine: "We've prepared a limited stock of these new battle-boxes, but we suspect that it'll sell out. If you place an order through our webstore by X date, we guarantee that we will get a box to you, although it may be delayed by the volume of orders."

The low initial stock would still be dumb, but at least everyone who wanted an army could actually order their army.

I think I just repeated myself, but I've had a really long day of work and was not at all surprised to find that boxes were sold out when I finally got home. Skimmed through the pages to see that some regions sold out in 5, 10, 30 minutes. It certainly made the decision of whether to get the box easy for me.
Selling out a preorder. What a ridiculous concept. Sure, GW does preorders differently, but if there was one box to not have such a moronic limited supply run of, it's this box.

Man - I got into the hobby about a decade ago (due to Dawn of War: Soulstorm) and quickly jumped shjp to Fantasy and bought the Battle of Skull Pass starter. The whole time I've been wanting plastic sisters and plastic squigs. In one year GW makes awesome army sets for both but I can't get either because they decide to only make 7 copies of each. At least the Ebay scalpers will have a nice Christmas I guess.

Wait... there will be more.
I canceled my SoB box due to the monoposes
and due to the fact that I have a bunch of old metal monoposes,
and also because, well, I am not a superfan of the penitent engine in the boxset either,
plus the redundant sculpts on some in the box...
plus, no time to really play, so the book would just be pretty picture for me.

In due time, you will get better perhaps posable models,
different loadouts and more time to think about what you want to use...

As for plastic squigs, I guess I never understood why there weren't more squigs...

I wish GW would do second and third printing so these ebay scalpers would end either with too many boxes that they couldn't sell or with no one buying from them 'cause it will be available for the regular price. I don't care about the sisters, but this non-retailer reseller practice it abhorrent...

Can't see many scalpers having had the opportunity to get a lot of orders in though, given the website issues and how quickly it sold out. (Stretching my powers of optimism here.)
Still, shift one box at 250% of the price and you've got yourself a nice Christmas bonus I suppose. There is little anyone can do about that, aside from not buying from scalpers...

So... it is that the ‘deal’ isn’t there then, for lots of people?

It might be a saving, but that only matters if you want the stuff anyway.

There were around 20 up for £300 within seconds of it selling out in the UK.

Two hours was overly optimistic... logged on 2 minutes before time, slow server with last weeks release.

Two minutes past same thing. Then it crashed and when it was accessible all versions of the were sold out.

Kind of anticlimactic after waiting all those years. :(

Yeah, I still need to check in with my FLGS, but I was thinking I may get the second codex anyway assuming it has some extra art of the remaining new models. Cover's nice enough.

Yeah. I like the limited one, but the standard one is much better than I expected. They seem to be moving away from the really digital single character pieces from 6th-7th that they kept reusing (with this and the Space Marine one), which I really wasn’t a fan of.

It could be that they did secret additional runs, but I think it’s more likely that they had a buy back from local stores and redistributed the stock on line. I’d expect them to do the same here (assuming there are any local copies that don’t immediately get snapped up!)
