Arakasi, that retro mini is totally a fair interpretation of the theme if you'd prefer to paint it,
That's okay - I've decided to go in a completely different direction entirely! May I present my proof of Manfred, Heroic Fighter of the Known World (BC7, 1985):

(That's a 20mm base for size.)

Okay, 9 days in and the sentinels are still being built (still playing with various bits). That gives me no hope that I could finish even one at my rate, so bringing in my substitute.

Chaos sorceror, who I'm going to try and make sure I do i a different scheme to the two champs from last month..

Ah, that's a pretty paint scheme, too! Yeah I guess adapting the current, more uniform masque colours for these guys & gals is the way to go, I kept getting back to the 80ies paint schemes but the more I looked the less I understood what's going on there ... might be a reason that there seem to be quite some unpainted Rogue Trader era Harlies around

After 2 weeks (probably 120 hours) spent painting my Seraptek, I think it's time to take a break from anything mechanical and have a little fun.

Think I'll go with these vintage XV15-pattern Stealth Suits - realised I had three of one pose, two of another, plus a third unique pose, so something had to change. Soon two will have fusion blasters, one will have a new head (I'd love to use a Breachers head, but I only have Pathfinder heads spare).

Trying to get started a bit earlier this month.
It is quite cool seeing people's old models - many of them bring a stir or nostalgia. I'm sure I have some of those harlies, Jamie, MobileSuit and felt...and I WISH I had those chaos warriors, Arakasi!

For my own, it was the old dioramas that first inspired my imagination and made me interested in minis - you know, the ones with bright green flock and trees from model train sets. I remember looking at them and thinking they so perfectly captured fantasy worlds. So, that is what I am going to try to do: a small diorama. I'm even going to try to find some old flock!

I'm trying to decide if I want to do a Bretonnian or a Dungeons and Dragons vignette....I'll get back to everyone when I know!

Nice work so far everyone. We've got a little squad of metal Harlequins painters, which is nice. I'm not doing a colour scheme as such, I'm going to try to replicate the old Harlequin paintjobs from the 80s that I loved when I was a kid but could never get close to doing.

Failcast! I dug out this and a few other classic models while reorganizing and filtering my pile of shame the other day and thought it'd be perfect for this challenge!

Probably the easiest eyes I've ever painted. They're huge, on account of his face being so big.

I just won one on ebay for almost half of what everyone else is charging. Needs a bath and scrub but it's metal so easy job!

Okay Old-School Cool Kids, I found a bunch of classic paper-sticker banners. If anyone needs them for the classic Marines you're rebooting for this round, let me know... they're mostly Imperial from the mid-to-late 90s, probably 3rd edition. Lots of bikes for some reason, dreads, and a few infantry back banners, plus a little Eldar flavor. I also have a bunch of waterslides from that era, but those might be pretty rotten by now, who knows?

If you're within easy mailing of Colorado, USA, PM me and I'll drop something in an envelope for you.

Lucky! While I do enjoy how amazingly light this model is (it feels like I'm holding nothing at all), I would have preferred metal. Would've made my prep stage so much easier.

Yeah there are pros and cons to each. I quite like resin because it's easier to get all the mold lines, and if you get a half decent fine cast they still look pretty good. I find that wihh metal I often miss mild lines that pop up when I hit it with the primer.

Love a bit of freehand. Still work in progress. Will add some more tonal variation to the skull and background tomorrow.

Had a lot of fun on this, and it was a nice quick piece to work on as a break after the Seraptek.
