Gonna amend my entry, the squat stays, but the grots are out. To keep it thematic I throw a Rouge Trader and inspired by Chris56 my Locarno into the mix. Squat also got his first two colors.

Let's join this! I have a perfect "supporting role" set of minis; 5 of the 7 player pawns from the 10th anniversary of the hit board game, Pandemic. From left to right: the Operations Expert, the Quarantine Specialist, the Scientist, the Dispatcher, and the Contingency Planner. I've done the Medic just a few days ago in my painting blog linked in my sig. There's also the Researcher, but I won't be doing her for the challenge. Hopefully I'll get all 5 finished, but at least some of them will be!

Spoiler:

See what's on my painting table Now painting: Gravis Captain

Progress. Starting to get the hang of this non metallic metal business. Shame it will all be hidden by his reaper chain cannon.

Looking fantastic (as expected) QAR - that is gonna be a great model - you can see it already.

That's the same Rogue Trader I want to use for my warband, Viterbi!
I love that model as well, though she won't be part of my entry this month. I love your squat also - the old-school RT stuff where everyone was basically the same race in 40,000 years time...space men, space elves, space dwarves, halflings, orcs.....awesome.
I look forward to seeing what colours you choose!

I am super impressed with the sculpts of the faces on these models, definitely the best I have seen at 28mm.

One third of the month gone and I've narrowed down my entry to these two:

Grot Orderly and Ammor Runt. Maybe both, maybe one - I guess we'll see.

Good luck everyone!

Some progress. This miniatures is much more detailed than I realised. The subcomponents are pretty chunky, so I'm using the backpack to test the colour scheme before doing the main figure. There's a bit of light conversion on this as well to replace some missing or broken parts.

Dragged this old rhino out of my basement. Missing a door, and it's bolter. This was as far as I got painting it 4 years ago.

Hopefully this counts as a proof!

Progress on the test model. It's still in a fairly rough shape, lots of smoothing off to do and more highlights, but it's enough to get the idea of where they are going;

Quick WIP:

Sorry for the blurry snap.

Realized with the sculpted banner that I wasn’t going to have the iconography you expect to have from the stalwart Ultramarines 3rd company, Scourge of Xenos. So I dug out some bits to stab a ‘Nid head on his base, and a sheath for the knife on his belt. Will try to prime them this afternoon to add to the mini.

Going to call this finished.

I wanted to use this month's challenge as an excuse to practice some weathering techniques. I'm generally happy with how the rust looks, but I have struggled to get the oxidized copper to look right. Does anyone have any tips on using GW's Nihilak Oxide? I tried using GW's guides but they weren't the most helpful unless you wanted to dump the model into a bottle of the stuff and wipe off the excess with a rag.

Thats pretty much it, you slap it on then rub off the raised areas so it pools like a shade in the recesses and edges.

I don’t know what to make of that; incredible technical skill, they look almost like graphic illustrations, but I’ve never seen 40k models so clean it’s...odd.

Yeah you should take better photos of those using a light box with a dark background.

Also, you might want to check the first post. This is a monthly competition where a proof photo is required to enter a model painted this month. If you have a before photo you might get away with entering. otherwise, your photos might be better off in their own thread in the showcase subforum.

Cheers all, let's just hope I can get them all done by the end. Back to class room teaching next week, so won't be in as much.

I'm still deciding, but might do some pox walkers.

Here's a better proof pic from me... I think I can get both of these done in a few weeks. Technically these carry Simulacrum Imperialis upgrades, but they'll be my Imagifiers. One is from the Sororitas army box, the other from the Dominions/Celestians box. I'll do both of my paint schemes... green robes on white armor, and white robes on green armor, both with gold trim.

I might also do a Gaslands vehicle. There is a team where you pick one car to be an actual car and then all the rest are "ghost riders" that cruise around and give bonuses to your main vehicle. I thought about making this matchbox motorcycle into an actual Ghost Rider. The flaming skull fellow of Marvel fame. The idea is to sculpt the whole thing out of gs.

It may be a bit of a reach, and if it looks like I'll go with the poxwalkers.
If it looks then that was the plan all along.

Think I'll jump in on this for once...

My entry is a Mandalorian Commando of Clan Scarre (A 'fictional' Clan I'm working up). In terms of the theme, as legendary bounty hunters, the Mandalorians rarely took to the field as a unified Clan (Outside Mandalore at least), instead lending their individual support to whoever had the coin. The model is a 3D print, the first I've bought, so I'm curious to see how well it'll paint up...

Anyway, my proof pic:
