I'm starting to think it might be something snatching soulstuff from a Lumineth or the like.

You know, it would be cool if the final boss had a "werewolf" final form (and not locked behind an expansion). Though since he has two pelts on (and its AOS, where creatures have two tails, etc) he's going to be a completely original creature. A werewolf with two heads, so he can look in every direction. An Awarewolf.

Give them flying squirrel wings and we could have Airwolf.

Wow, absolutely zero 40k, or 30k/40k setting related announcements. Will catch up on the article later in the day to look at the warhammer quest related news.

I assume we will have another preview in a few weeks then, maybe after Drukhari are released to detail the road map for the next batch of 40k Codex's.

Well since there's only 40k previews why not only AOS related previews?

I have no issue with it, I just wasn't expecting it, they usually have something extra sprinkled in like a necromunda etc, I think there has been a preview before with no direct 40k in it. Like I said anyway, I'm still interested namely for the warhammer quest related content... A little concerned about the potential price tag though with the news of the new kill team price...

They're probably testing how well game-specific (well, setting-specific I suppose) Previews go considering whenever there's been a mixed event the non-40k (even stuff like Titanicus and Necromunda) reveals always have "BORING SHOW 40K" or "WHERES BLACK TEMPLARS???" being spammed in the comments, even when they made it subscriber only.

Yeah, I hadn't thought of that

It may be worth turning the comments off, however, the black templars will still come in this preview chat, I assure you.

It might be that they have enough new releases in the pipeline to justify separate AOS / 40K previews, especially if the stuff they're showing off will be coming out around the time the release schedule returns to normal.

Dark Eldar are up soon, and after that we have no firm idea what the next batch of codexes will be. Wouldn't be surprised to see a 40k / necromunda / aeronautica / etc stream following this in early March.

We'll probably not see too much news on it, since Broken Realms: Teclis was announced and detailed at the last big preview.

Sisters of Battle have the new kits coming out and some Ecclesiarchy-esq teasers we've not seen yet so they'll definitely be in there somewhere.

There's the Ork model teaser and the Skittari Alpha, plus Mechanicus have Engine War units that need cramming into a codex, which means either they'll be at the front or back of the queue - gets people buying two books after all.

Fair to say it'll probably Sisters/Orks/Mechanicus.

It's funny that people forget that Engine War "only" had three new kits(flyer, cavalry, birdmens) in it for AdMech. The Skorpius released a year or so prior, and the Manipulus was released as a Kill-Team exclusive model.

It's why I've been thinking there's Big Changes coming for AdMech as we went through at least two chances for a new codex in the closing days of 8th despite having been an early book.

I mean sure, we won't see much because the actual meat of it won't be revealed until it's announced for pre-order, but what do we actually know abut it? It exists, is to be released in the none too distant future and features Lumineth invading Shyish.

There's definitely room for relevant news such as a firm release date (or at least month), and if we can expect non-Lumineth models along with it. Since new undead outside of Warhammer Quest are still a big unknown other than that the faction exists and gets a clampack vampire, we could speculate all day if they're supposed to come with this Broken Realms book or the next or independent of them or whatever. GW dropping some info on that wouldn't necessarily be much, but still paint a clearer picture of the future. I'd be down for that.

We actually got a surprising amount of information on it from The Dead and The Divine preview show.

Archmage Teclis is also the cover star for the next book in the thrilling Broken Realms saga. The narrative sees the Lumineth Realm-lords taking the fight to Nagash and, after this epic clash, the Mortal Realms will never be the same again. Can the purest light of the Lumineth break the dark curse of Death?

Along with new background that will forever change the Mortal Realms, the book features warscroll battalions for

Lumineth Realm-lords
Cities of Sigmar
Maggotkin of Nurgle
Flesh-eater Courts
Ossiarch Bonereapers
There are also warscrolls for a swathe of new Lumineth Realm-lords units, including some that we saw earlier in the week, and unique battleplans that let you play out some of the battles from the narrative yourself.

I'm not sure if this next bit is super relevant but I'll include it:

Of course, Teclis isn’t going to have everything his own way, Morathi will see to that. After claiming to have achieved apotheosis during the opening gambit of the Broken Realms saga, she is ready to unleash her forces in a fresh assault upon the Mortal Realms. What better way is there to begin such a campaign than with a new battletome?

I'm kinda/sorta wondering if the pattern will be Broken Realms-->Two New/Updated Books.

I’d imagine they both have their own timelines rather than a set one like that.

However with how spaced out Broken Realms is, it probably will end up being 2-3 battletomes between each BR.

No proof but the last 3 editions of the flagship games have been 3 years long. AoS 2.0 was summer 2018.

Yeah, I’m thinking, between the necroquake and the Katophrane Curse going wild and connecting to random realms, Nagash’s hold on Death as a concept is subtly weakening even as his personal power grows. This would allow certain strong-willed dead people to break free of his control…
Assuming they don’t confirm that rumour where Settra is actually a Stormcast now…

Three books was plenty to bring back Girlyman and soft reboot 40k. AoS doesn't seem to be in for a revolution so all Broken Realms has to do is to wrap up the Soul Wars narrative and pave the way for whatever 3rd ed's story arc will be. Which won't actually be revealed in the last book and reserved for the 3rd ed starter box and tie-ins. Three books is plenty to achieve that goal.

Cronch wrote:

As has been said, there is ample reason to believe this summer sees the release of AoS 3rd ed. Barring a leak you're not going to see proof until GW announces it, which won't be for another two or three months if it happens, but there's no denying that GW has released its two main games in three year intervals respectively since 2014. It is actually less believable to assume 3rd ed isn't coming this year.

So, I'm not a fan of GW mutilating characters from a different setting to give the new brand some sort of legitimacy and would have preferred Age of Definitely not the Guy from Our Old Game to be its own thing, but you know, I'd be down for that if it meant even the slightest chance of getting Tomb King models again.

Sucks to be squatted.

Bit snippy eh? I'll give you that 3rd ed is more believable than TK returning to AoS or GW releasing vampirates
