I'd remove all the deco from the 50mm plank base and triple the number of ones with just plain boards. It looks weird when you have 5 guys all standing by the same bottle or pile of coins. Particularly given the little bits to add on yourself, I generally prefer more plain bases.

Same here, but I can make or stamp plainer bases. Fancy bases I use for the bosses.
I'm still kicking myself for not picking up the Happy Seppuku rubber stamp for dungeons for five bucks at the LGS. At least I got the planks for my tavern customers!
I'm glad to see the model game coming before the board game - I'm still waiting on them to finish the Heroes of MM Boardgame so they can get on with the model wargame so I can get models without mountains of cardboard and counters
Wowza! This could be a big one for me. Not that I want to start a new game, but Starcraft miniatures are something I've probably wanted for 22 years... And with One Page rules I can just take them as whatever fits. Already got a nice group of Giger-Aliens that would surely like some zerglings to go with them.
And with archon I'm assuming we'll also get some proper terrain, like... ALL the buildings ffom the game

The infantry models look kinda big. Which would imply, oddly, a very zoomed in skirmish (maybe ala Mantic's Halo thing) when obviously the IP wants a 15mm or smaller game to fit WAVES OF TANKS

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

Well, I'm thinking 40K style with more 30mm infantry miniatures, tanks and planes on a table than you should reasonably put there but looking great while doing so.

Lets face it MOST wargames functionally work better in the 6-15mm scale range. Because you can put down way more units and have "bigger" areas represented on the battlefield.
However 28-32mm tends to be a sweet spot for much higher sales because you can make character models and infantry that are more easily identified with. Sadly people often need that and can't "identify" with legions of tanks or massed rank and file or a huge dragon.
So yeah if you want a game that will most easily have high appeal you go for that 28-32mm sweetspot. Esp for something like Starcraft where almost all the characters are infantry - the only ones that aren't are mostly the Hive Mind and such.
So from chatter on Archon's discord it's a 32mm game, including tanks and some terrain, and deploying models all game long, with about 20 models on the table at a time.

20 models sounds small but honestly its a good spot for most wargames to start. Those that get bigger tend to have to last a while first to get people to build up and then expand naturally and then push for larger games. Plus being a 3rd party IP you never know if you'll get more than one go at it before the licence is pulled/changed and such.

That's part of it. It is a scale where you can relatively easily differentiate figures and paint them without them becoming too large for any real use (like 54mm). You do need a bigger table than you need for something like 10mm, but not one that's too oversized to fit somewhere. Unless you go for the tiny tables that GW seems to be fascinated with nowadays.
And, of course, there is the simple fact that 28mm-ish is the standard already and what lots of people have and are used to. This means that they know how to paint those figures. I personally also like everything being roughly the same scale, also for things like terrain, so that also fixes people into a scale.
Docks (and Ducks) unlocked - might need an add on for more?
and a Caves shipping update
Shipping of unpainted pledges is almost upon us - we plan to ship the first unpainted pledges early next week. shipping for pre-painted pledges is currently scheduled for May 2025

The Dock might get doubled up like some in the Caves KS.
