Maybe that's GWs way of saying you shouldn't have a dozen Warlocks?
The unit size got reduced to 6 anyway.
But I do think it's weird that even though they are plastic, it's got LESS stances than the previous metal/finecast Seer Council box (the one with 1 Farseer and 3 Warlocks)
Come to think of it, there are a ton of metal Warlocks molds. So it does feel off to just get 2 in plastic.

So looking at the Avatar of Khaine rules, why did they give it a special rule to halve damage? Wouldn't it be easier to just give it more wounds rather than throw in a new special rule onto it? I'm guessing the answer is they wanted to keep it under 18 wounds due to them arbitrarily deciding that suddenly at 18 wounds you can no longer hide behind cover, but it still feels like a silly rule added on to cover for a different silly rule...
It honestly feels like they threw that rule onto it largely to counter the brand new ignores invulnerable + deal mortal wound gun the Tau are getting.

Honestly I'm not sure how effective that will be. The rule halves Damage, but MWs are always D1. So a Rail-gun doing D3+6 + 3MWs is only going to half the D3+6 part, but you'll still take the 3MWs. So instead of taking 10-12Ws, you'll take 6-8Ws.
The Avatar will still be half dead after one Railgun shot

Maybe GW should have thought of that when they took what were de facto 'sergeants' for guardians and made them a unit as well, and then part of a doom stack.

The Half Damage rule is used for many models. It prevents large weapons from quickly killing the character while preventing Dmg 1 weapons from being nearly useless.
Calgar has 8 Wounds and takes half damage. At 16 wounds, he would not benefit from Look Out, Sir and would need to fail 16 saves versus damage 1 weapons to die instead of 8. Either day he dies from 8 Dmg 2 attacks, but with 8 Wounds he dies from 4 unsaved Dmg 3 (halved to 2) attacks instead of needing to fail 6 to get past 16 wounds.
So no, it really isn't the same as just doubling the wounds.

That was what happened in an old Imperium vs. Eldar battle report from 2nd edition where the Avatar got held up by a sacrificial Guard squad. By the time it finally chopped its way through the last of them, the rest of the Eldar army had already been defeated.
Well in 2nd ed no model could really kill more than 2-3 on turn it charged and # of attacks didn't increase kill potential as such. You only could kill those in b2b so opponent could just feed you 1 model a turn. You relied on morale to get more help.

Watch the movie Willow. Mad Martigan had such a plume on his helmet at the battle of Tiris Li, didn't interfere with his fighting. Also with the positioning rear of center of the top of the head the hair would tend to fall to the back of the head and not the face, no matter how much you swung around. Physics, and all that...

Tiny bit of a shame that there weren't a few more varied parts to really make them distinct in larger groups, but overall a very solid kit.
I agree about the desire for variety. I suspect they will work with the Skyrunner, Farseer on foot, and Spiritseer figures, though. I plan on using those to kitbash my way to happiness, similar to the new Autarch.

I was just thinking you might be able to do it from the Shuriken pistol arm in the Warlock kit with a different hand. I need to poke around, but I'm fairly certain that hand pose(?) is on another mini.

I agree that the old metal warlocks were better all around, and that these are OK.

No Warlocks with the Guardians.

At this point, I expect that GW might mold things in such a way that I might have to build the plastic model, glue it with solvent weld, then cut it apart to convert it, just as I would have done with the metal kits.
Metal remains my favourite material for most models, plastic for larger kits only e.g. vehicles, walkers...
BTW, does anyone know when the Eldritch Omens box should be up for preorders?
EDIT: It will be Feb... maybe the weekend of Feb 5?

A lot is listed on the GW website as "Temporarily out of stock". Curiously falcon is listed as "Temporarily out of stock". I was going to go out on a limb and guess that they are going to redo the Wave Serpent as it is really a lot smaller than it should be as it is build on the falcon base which is a lot smaller than a real Wave Serpent.

It's more likely that those along with some "sold out" are reflective of
1) A spike in orders as a result of hype
2) Repacking with new studio paint schemes and box covers and such as well as new stats in the leaflets

Where did you get that the "real" Wave Serpent is bigger than the model? Since the Wave Serpent got its contemporary redesign (first hexfield-shield WD conversion, than Forgeworld, than GW proper) it has the elongated Falcon hull. The ooooold Space Marine/Epic sailboat Wave Serpent is long retconned out of existence. Even the second Epic model is based on the Falcon.

The shroudrunner article confirms that the sniper on the back fires will in motion.
Since the bikes have "camouflage" from the cloaks, I wish they had added some camo strapped over the front of the bike, to add that extra layer of camo. Just having someone wearing camo on a bright red bike (I know it varies from craftworld but still) is a bit hard to swallow. Harder than sniping from a moving bike

Didn't realise it was changed in epic to match 40k. I still think they prefer this larger design. Both epic versions are connected at the front which isn't on the 40k model.
