Rulebook: "Psychic Weapons will have the Psychic Trait to identify them."

A: No."

Well, from the rulebook:

Note that some other Weapons make use of the Psyker Trait, but as they do not have the Psychic Trait are not Psychic Weapons per se.

Don't know of any examples though. Maybe you can give a normal weapon the trait with a psychic power for a limited time?

Right, that's about the Psyker Trait, which identifies a model as a Psyker and is required to use Psychic Weapons. Both I mentioned stated Psychic Trait.

Two different Traits.

Not the first time it's happened. Won't be the last.

GW seem to struggle to recruit a wide group of playtesters who won't leak stuff...

There’s no point buying books from GW anymore. If they cannot release a book without errata on day 1.

A PDF is effectively free to update. But it requires printing or an iPad.

I’d love to see them switch to background books and everything else in PDF.

Physical books also have a lead time of several months to print and distribute, in the meantime issues can be spotted, hence day 1 errata/faq.

Make the rules a free download for everyone (maybe without a ton of graphics, pretty bare bones looking like a standard word processor document if that’s the original source — this would help with printing on a standard printer too) and then charge $20 for a rulebook with no fluff.

They did this with 10th edition 40k, there was a limited run of a “just the rules book” in that price range.

You mean 2 1/2 for the core book, 1 for liber astartes and heretics, and less than 1 for liber auxilia so far. And evidence they don't check or playtest?

Silly question but would there be any reason in the lore that a Custodes Blade Champion wouldn't be a thing in 30K?

That’s the thing with writing rules, isn’t it. To reduce room for misinterpretation, let alone deliberate misinterpretation, you’ve got to use the precise wording.

Precise does not mean short.

And here, we’ve an orphan paragraph. Because it’s a change to one paragraph of a larger whole. Which can easily come across as gobbledegook when presented without the remaining wording and context.

At work, I often find the need to quote specific rules when sharing my recommendations. That’s because I don’t have a free hand in all things. If it’s a concern over jurisdiction, I can’t just cite the sub-clause I’m relying on, because without the rest of the relevant context? It doesn’t mean anything.

At this point, I will just say: get hold of and read something like One Page Rules, a Song of Ice and Fire, even something like Infinity, which is translated from Spanish by a non-native English Speaker and yet still manages to be more concise than this. Actually, any of the Alessio Cavatore era of 40k rules.

It is absolutely possible to write rules that do not require someone to sit down with a strong cup of coffee and parse their intent, or page-long forum discussions regarding intent. I cannot understand how GW has been doing it for this long and be so bad at it, actually even taken steps back in many regards. The vast majority of casual wargamers will take one look at that paragraph, and others like it, and just not bother.

Yep, look at the initial rules for something like Kings of War written by Alessio.

https://archive.org/download/kings-of-war-rulespdf_compress/kings-of-war-rulespdf_compress.pdf

I think the whole thing is 4 sheets of paper when printed.

Rules should be easy, simple and free to download IMO. Certainly the core rules you *need* to play.

From reddit. A cool collection of images on how flexible the Saturnine kits are. Honestly would be amazing if this level of poseability starts coming to other things like Tau battlesuits etc.

So. Sisters of Silence lost all of their cool, interesting, conversion units. But, not to be worried, I'm sure all of those will be reinstated in the Legacies PDF. Because, they obviously couldn't be included in THIS PDF, because, well, ummmmm..........HH writers LOVE conversions, and that's why, ummmmm......they locked them behind pay walls. But not the SoS. That'll get fixed in the PDF, that fixes the other PDF. Right?

That’s not really accurate though, is it. The Sisters will be part of the Talons liber. So they’re obviously getting a makeover, and new kits (“big things are afoot”). This pdf is just to tide them over till then. That all sounds pretty positive.

Given this is GW we're talking about they'll probably tease what could be new Sisters stuff for weeks and then reveal all the ambiguous references were to a Custodes range refresh with female minis to match the nufluff and Sisters are still one character, one unit, one vehicle then surprisepikachuface.jpg when people are annoyed with them again.
