Not to mention that anyone quibbling about it seems to straightforwardly accept the concept of an objective as "place where guys stand (importantly) for ~6 second increments". There can be like 5+ of these magical nexus in the space of an average city block. They're not meaningfully tied to terrain or battlefield features. Not even the wisest denizens of the galaxy truly know what occurs within the bounds of these perplexing loci that dot every battlefield -- what happens in objective stays in objective. But, again, extremely important to momentarily stand near for reasons.
The system concepts are already *completely* abstract and gamey. Personally, I suspect the reason for that is that this is a game.

It would just mean terminators ignore unwieldly, as they should.
I doubt this because the chainfist is still unwieldy, but yes it is possible.
The big tell for it being fake is that the Rapid Fire on bolters is wrong. The new formating would still have it show 'rapid fire 1'.

I literally quoted the article. You're making inferences based upon confirmation bias.
Its training in the US and I'm not aware of any other large key releases due over summer that might require training days.
As I said, training in the US usually happens in June even when there's not a new edition coming. My comment about the blackout days has to do with the other big boxes.
This would be first time ever blackout day isn't day new edition is first out.

That's why I'm expecting them to be in line for a big release. The nice thing about 8th and 9th was that despite huge SM releases and huge DG/ Necron releases they ALSO did big waves of CSM, Orks, Sisters and Eldar. I'll believe it when I see it.
In the ~13 years since 5th edition:
- We've seen Space Marines more than double in size.
- We've seen whole new armies like Custodes.
- We've seen Genestealer Cults return with a brand new range of models.
- Sisters of Battle, once the pinnacle of neglect, have seen their entire army updated.
-And squats, fething squats have returned, also with a brand new range of models.
In that entire period, DE received zero new units. Meanwhile, they have lost at least 6 HQs and 3 Elite choices (to say nothing of wargear).
Frankly, I would sooner put money on GW releasing a new army consisting entirely of battle-armchairs than on Dark Eldar getting any meaningful release.

Yeah, sometimes (OK, a lot of times) we players are left coming up with narrative justification for things that exist for mechanical reasons. Though in defense of objectives I would point out it makes sense they show up on battlefields so often--that's what we're fighting over! The battle takes place over the objectives, the objectives don't migrate to the battle.

I keep forgetting that Grotesques got renamed to Wracks in the 5th edition Codex. My brain still sees them as Grotesques and not Wracks. Wracks are indeed a plastic kit, but they were metal/finecast for a good while. Again it isn't much, but getting them in plastic helps, and is some attention shown to the faction since the revamp back in 5th.

You are literally going to have a Deathwatch veteran card and a separate weapons of the Deathwatch card (maybe one for ranged and one for melee)
Or maybe there will be different Deathwatch Veteran cards and you pick different Veterans with different weapons each (like a Heavy Weapons vet, a Special Weapons vet, a Melee specialist Vet, etc.) and combine them into teams. Will kinda stink if you make a combo that they don't include (one lightning claw and a meltagun, or whatever) but it could allow a lot of options. Hopefully they don't give you like six weapons options and tell you to pound sand. Automatically Appended Next Post: Altruizine wrote:Tsagualsa wrote:

This is the number one thing that I don't like about objectives. They are entirely conceptual, and I hate that in a MINIATURE WARGAME (same way I hate rules that aren't tied to the model or wargear).
I realize that GW may not want to go down the route of Kill Team and provide you with specific models for specific terrain pieces and tell you precisely where to place them (and I certainly don't), but I wish that the 'official rules', especially when talking about narrative games, would discuss and encourage the players to think about objectives that make sense with their table and terrain setup. Give examples of how, say, a high vantage point, or a crossroads, or a position with a clear field of fire, make good, sensible objectives.
Instead, their guidance tends to be 'put down terrain, then after that, place objectives with these particular limitations'. You can't make your objectives make sense with your terrain if you have to do one before the other!
I feel like GW should go ahead and bite the bullet. Have overtly matched play missions with symmetrical objectives and specified pieces of GW terrain and specified placement*, and then have 'narrative missions' that actually talk about 'here's what terrain we used, and here's what we set up as objectives and why'.
Nothing prevents you from setting up believable objectives in your home games, but normalizing it in the rulebook and in White Dwarf would, I think, really help encourage it, and also normalize restrictions in specifically tournament/competitive play.
*just like a lot of tournaments have tables with identical pre-made terrain and established set ups

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.
Please report to your nearest GW store for attitude readjustment. Take your wallet. |

Not much granted, but it is better than nothing.
I said new units, not updated models.
Not looking to be a Richard here, but what sort of new units? Genuinely interest in a wish list.

The Power Cosmic wrote:Man, they really have to put those weapons in alphabetical order, especially when there are like a dozen of them. They are in alphabetical order: Assault Cannon Cyclone Missile Launcher - frag Cyclone Missile Launcher - krak Heavy Flamer Storm Bolter Come to think of it, that's probably another criteria we can use to dismiss the next round of fake datasheets.

We've not had plastic Grots unless I've been kept under a rock that somehow warps both the shops and internet to keep them hidden from me?
I can't speak for Vipoid - but to a degree "anything". I can understand why GW wouldn't want to necessarily roll out "Dark Wraithguard" (can't remember what they were called in the Andy Chambers novels) but they could. We could have whole units of Ssslyth. Or Ghouls. Or the other two. We could have Beast Packs in plastic with the same and/or new critters. We could have bigger/giant beasts because Dark Eldar in Spaaace (for example the Ambull). We could - dare I say it - have a bunch of unit duplication, which doesn't seem great, but it never stops the SM train rolling. Like shooting wyches and stabby Kabalites. We could have some sort of tortured Farseer/Warlocks/Xenos race to act as a Psyker. We could have some super Ravager or some new Haemonculus death weapon.
Anything basically. Its just crazy that the scope of imagination for DE is "you are 3 subfactions of about 4 models each, most of which we dreamt up 25 years ago, that's it bye".
I mean its duplication again - but plastic Mandrakes and a Mandrake Character. Maybe with Plastic Grots. A ranged Wrack Unit with Glass Plague Weapons. A Haemi riding on throne made of condensed blood and misery - whatever. This is a mini-release that could just about make up an army on its own. Maybe you don't care about that section of the roster - but DE players who are agnostic would at least have something to buy.
I mean I'm at the point where my DE army is around 10 years old and I'm semi-embarrassed my painting was that bad back then. But I don't want to just buy the same old things again because that would be insanity.
