This better be something readily viewable upon release! Streaming has changed the game, yet there are some shows (Tales of the Walking Ded) which are, frankly inexplicably, yet to air in the U.K.

Well it's not it as it's separate project and done already. And old cast isn't going to really be involved in reboot. Def not every surviving main cast.

Which... how in the world did this leak from nobody? No voice actors, none of the animators, none of the dozens-to-hundreds of people in production process, no one higher up the chain, nobody.

In the modern film/animation industry and internet culture, that's just eerie.

Yeah well kept secret. Main cast i can understand but bit surprise this big thing without any rumours or leaks.

“Animated” can cover a lot of ground. I’m preparing for an Uktramarines: the Movie level production so as not to get my hopes too high.

Cannot wait to see it once released.

Interesting, but I think the Babylon 5 franchise struggles as it keep trying to recreate the original. It needs to move on and explore the bigger setting.

We are still getting stories from characters we saw complete their story. Juat feels a bit off to me.

Agreed. One of the great things about the original B5 was how self-contained the story was. It was specifically designed as a 5-season arc. There may have been some hiccups along the way but it more or less worked in that sense. That makes the revisiting of the same characters a little bit odd, but understandable from a money POV.

In defence?

At least they’ve not been kicking out B5 content year on year for the sake of it. For now, I guess we’ll just have to trust they’re bringing it back because they feel they’ve a story genuinely worth telling.

4 season arc. Fifth season was entirely unplanned and saddled with unreasonable demands and changes from the new network. Its really weird after the definitive epilogue episode in season 4.

Look forward to seeing what they have but not particularly high hopes considering some (most) of the later stuff

I'll hold out hope that this is up to the legacy B5 has left since the series.

Time travel was always there, but realities is a new thing, IIRC. Odd, but we'll have to find out.

That's a fair point. At least it hasn't been utterly beaten to death over the last 20 years. I'd still love to see more of an exploration of the wider setting though.

It was planned as a 5-season arc following the classic novel structure: exposition; rising action; climax; falling action; denouement. When the show got cancelled in season 4 it led to the structure having to be revised. The resulting upheaval meant the planned 5-season arc ended up being condensed into 4 and the actual fifth season was a bit of a mess because of all the off-screen stuff and the fact the original plan had been rendered obsolete after season 4. It's so annoying that the ridiculously ambitious attempt at a 5-year arc was so close to working until the inevitable network politics got involved.

Given the frightening rate they're dropping at, this might have been the last opportunity to do anything on this scale with the majority of the old cast.

There was the B4 alt reality where the Shadows were winning which the main cast changed
