Yeah, that's pretty rad. I like the cable, too.

@MrNobody - Love the power sword and the banner looks awesome!

@youwasshock - The water effect looks awesome! What are you using for it?

Thanks, Olthannon! It is just Realistic Blue Water from Scenarama. Also, it cracked in multiple places. Didn't think it was that deep, but I guess it is. Poured another thin layer to fill in. Now I wait.

Friend, hope this encouragement will find you in good faith and spirit. Took me a while to understand that the most important thing in this hobby, and generally in any job or activity in life, is to (Enjoy the process!!!). If you enjoy the slow and the boring part of any particular activity, then it won't matter who is doing what, or even if you are having success at it or not.

Post yours! And be part of this event! I never really liked elf cav or vamp cav, but I like your your elf/vamp knights, epic kitbash. And about the quality of pictures worry not, it was never that important. Besides, pictures are never perfect, mini will always look different in real life.
I assure you that the high bar idea you mentioned does not exist here. If any bar ever existed or was ever set, then DV8 set it into godstatus long time ago

You are correct. Sorry, been distracted lately; meant to comment earlier.

@Mothsniper - composite pictures count all the individual shots, so you are just a -tad- over the 6 photo limit. You could take group shots, or just select the best pic of each individual.

Roger that! I was out of state for work, just got back to edit the entry.

Am I reading the thread right that I can post my final photos tomorrow? I'm all finished, but I haven't been able to take the photos yet. It's okay if that's not allowed. I'll post it up anyway, and it can be included or not depending on the whims of our benevolent overlord Nev.

Well, the month has gone by so quickly.
June has been busy so I have not had much time for painting. The unbearable heat does not help either.

Everyone has been doing a stellar work so far and I'm eagerly looking forward to the voting.

Yesterday I decided to try and do something for the challenge, but I'm guessing I won't be able to finish it.
We'll see.

Here's the proof just in case:

And here's a WIP.

I picked this model for two reasons, the theme being "Paradigm".

First of all, like many of you know this model is sculpted after the iconic artwork made by John Blanche.
To honor his retirement, I thought it would be finally time to tackle this mini. It has been waiting for a couple of years in my cabinet, but I did not dare paint it.

The second reason is that in addition to being "the most badass battle sister in existence", the original artwork and the model perfectly represents 40k in my mind.
It's just so... metal.

The original artwork by John Blanche for those who have not seen it.

All done. The Titan Dragon of Aarklash, from Confrontation. Truly a Paradigm of dragon-ness. Water cracked again, BTW. Third time's the charm. Also, doesn't fit in the light box. Or on any shelves. Pics!

Quite happy to have this painted, finally. It's been warming the shelf for the better part of a decade. Also quite happy with how it has turned out. Went for the iconic red, not just because of the Paradigm theme, but because I have not painted a red dragon before, and they have been a fixture of fantasy since...forever?

Awesome work, everyone! Can't wait to see the final lineup. Thanks for looking!

What size base is that dragon? 40mm? 50mm? Whatever it is, it looks tiny compared to the model-- that's very oldschool cool!

Now showing Catachan Jungle Fighters and World War zombies!

Painting total as of 30th November 2025: 136 plus a Deva King statue

Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

The card says it is a 10 cm x 10 cm base. It's a pretty big model. I should get a scale shot with something familiar. I also considered a shot of it facing off with one of my Knights.

Correct so don't panic anyone, Nev has kindly given us the weekend to finish any painting and photos (I think because its a special one and also it is meant to be a fun challenge too, we don't want to cause a load of unnecessary stress)

Here’s my finished entry for the Celebration topic. My very first painting challenge entry was a tankbusta back in April of 2016. It seems fitting then to do a bomb squig for the centennial. This is also the third bomb squig I’ve completed for these, having completed one for a December open round in 2016 (my first ever green stuff sculpt from scratch) and another for the Primal theme in April of 2017.

These challenges have been my primary motivation for painting and have kept me more or less on a mini a month pace (not fast, I know, but better by far than zero minis per month). Consequently, I have added numerous characters, and whole squads to my army that might otherwise never have seen the light of day. These challenges have also pushed me to try new techniques and improve my photography.
Massive thanks to the community here for commenting to help me improve, contributing and especially to all who help keep it going!

Without further ado, let’s celebrate!

Guess what?

Squig butt!

Lolz, he kinda does!
I feel I have been through the sad crab stage Becoming untied from the opinions of people I could enjoy the process, with purpose, throw Christian world view. Check this out https://www.youtube.com/@slepoirushn/videos many failed projects and an abandoned career of 10+ years and I now work as a truck driver. My most watched video is at 2K views, but lolz it is 11 years old.
So when I say that the most important thing is to: ( =Enjoy the Process=) I speak from experience.
It will allow you to work-on and through in the face of utter failure.
And for me, the Christian world view allows me to see the purpose in that process, even in utter failure. Sry a bit of topic, but hope this helps though

Awesome! Damn good call on the water effects, the mini lake, small thing but that reflection just adds so much.

Good job on the bomb squig. Is this one also sculpted from scratch?
I join in the thanks to everyone who make this monthly challenge possible and kept it so consistent, much respect! For me too, it is quite motivational and I would of been worse off without this community and this event.
