"The Mechanicum Knights utilize the same relays to provide the extreme amounts of power needed to fuel their weapons and the other arcane systems that provide enhanced capabklities over their questoris peers. So great are the Mechanicum knights power needs that there is little left available to be utilized on some of the weapons and systems their Questoris cousins have been outfitted with".

From the wording, I'd be surprised if that was the case - sounds like the Defender is a fixed configuration that includes the VSG.
Now, whether Chaos Knights a, get access to the Defender; or b, can mix & match the VSG with other weapon options, that's another matter entirely.

Irreplaceable relic with long range guns (in case of conversion beamer, ONLY long range gun) - what is best tactical use for it? Putting it in front as fire magnet, apparently
Wonder if Phil Kelly wrote this, it's his usual tactically ignorant and common (non)sense, do opposite to reality clownery. Hey, GW writers, any sane Knight House would put this in the back, where it can provide allies with shield and fire support, but with cheaper Knights and (especially) Armigers in front, precisely to not lose these. Any Knight House doing otherwise would find themselves without Defenders after two campaigns, tops.
Also, void shield generator? Why it looks unlike all other void shields, then? Was designer of plastic mini banned from looking at the resin models? And why is it larger than generators found on Warlord Battle Titan? They really should have called the gizmo anything else, especially seeing Knights already utilize multiple kinds of shields so there is no need to use the one kind that makes no sense whatsoever
As for the relays, pity they didn't use them in rules. Give every knight energy budget, you can only use guns up to X energy per turn. Each carapace mount would also decrease available power depending on how much energy it uses, would solve both spamming best gun by WAAAC types and make low tech guns with little energy needs more desirable. Could even use it for balance instead of points - if some combination proves problematic, simply increase its energy cost to not ruin the gun for all other Knights that don't use broken wombo combo. There, done, both fluffy and more interesting than what we have now!

Looks alright, but I do think they could have done a bit more with it to differentiate it from the look of the other stuff.

Seems quite odd to complain about this, as if the Imperium isn't meant to illogical, backwards and overall absurd, or the idea of going into combat in a giant vaguely humanoid robot is "sane" itself.

I'm starting to find it a little interesting that Valrak and the likes are getting some rumours almost spot on (if not 100%, they have some element of relatability when revealed - thinking the blood and zeal would be khorne daemons vs grey knights, whereas it is Khorne cultists vs Imperiam faith)... And some rumours are completely being missed, or not passed on at all, or key details of the rumours are not getting through. An example is that EC and SW were rumoured to be coming, but the timing was completely off or not known by the rumour mongers, catching them even by surprise.
Another example is this IK, I believe, a complete unknown.
Anyway, what I'm getting at is I think there may be a bit of tactics being played by GW to try and uproot the department(s) responsible for the leaks. This is on the presumption that the current 'leaks' are not a marketing tactic which they absolutely could be also.

Valrak explained the Kill Team thing by saying he'd been told about upcoming Khorne & GK teams separately but around the same time. He'd assumed they'd be released together, then was given the box name a little later. Things like this do happen with rumours, no one has perfect information until the product is in hand. Hell, often we don't even get perfect information officially from WarCom.
The new IK model was also called by Valrak a few months ago, he said they'd get a Questoris upgrade sprue with a shield generator while CK will get a new knight with a siege drill.

The siege drill is for the Chaos Knights. It was in the rumor mill a while back.
I'm expecting them to be putting the Styrix and Magaera in plastic and that drill being a new version of that claw.

New Knight is cool. Always a fan of big and more destructive plasma weapons. And I do have a soft spot for conversion beamers.

Have 3 internet points for the Police Squad reference.
It could be a leak detection strategy. Years ago I remember an almost perfect Imperial Guard Codex leak but while the rules were right the names of the orders were all wrong. Which is a pretty well known counter intelligence tactic.

Yeah GW definitely did this in 9th. A ton of leaks came from the playtester pool who got early digital copies of codexes, and they talked to each other and found subtle differences in the rules they were sent.
For 10th I'm not aware of any rules leaks from the (now much smaller) playtesting group. Instead they tend to originate from content creators with printed retail codexes for review purposes.

Similarly someone conducting leaks or spreading details of them might also get key facts wrong/mixed up and so on to create a false impression that they aren't sourcing leaks from a specific spot.

On the new knight, I'm hoping there is a good variety of loadout options for the 2 new guns. If Defender is the hull plus void generator, I still hope there will be options for a basic knight with plasma + melee, a beamer + melee (maybe), and for the two new guns to be swappable into the crusader mix for more variety.
Also we see 1 new faceplate and tilt shield. Will there be more varieties? The plasma arm looks like the thermal cannon base with a plasma tip and an added plate on the side, while the conversion beamer arm looks fully new, and kind of like it took parts from the chaos laser arm in a few spots. If it is a full arm, will that take up the space that Canus Rex used for the pilot and cockpit?

Reading the article, it sounds like the Defender has a fixed loadout, like most of the Imperial versions.
