As a guy that stopped counting his 40K scale titans when he got to 30, I can agree totally with this statement.
I'm sorry, did you say 30 titans?
Yeah.....I have an addiction. LOL. Here's a link to my dakka gallery that has a pic with a good chunk of my titans in the background. https://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/1213570-.html Automatically Appended Next Post: MajorWesJanson wrote: Mr_Rose wrote:Of all the things to get individual upgrade costs, you’d think Titan arms would be it, but no.

The thing that enrages me is that they HAVE the molds for another Reaver weapon. They have a twin-turbo laser that fits the Reaver, but it was only offered as part of a now OOP fortification. I was lucky enough to find one on ebay a while back. I have no idea why they don't sell it .

While I always add extra salt to 4chan rumors, that seems a little plausible. Those armies are the most recent starters. It would be a way to move some of the combined unit sprues, at a non-insulting price.

4chan rumour and all that, but that seems plausible enough just because Tyranids, Necrons and Death Guard have the model ranges from their previous starter boxes that GW consider to be easy enough to build to be part of those intro boxes.
And hey! It could be a way to put the Death Guard 8th ed box Lord of Contagion back into production, which people have wanted for ages.
(If you're feeling particularly generous GW you could put the Plague Marine reinforcement sprue in there too? Given that's very rare now.)

If GW can justify it on their SKU line then its a great idea.
More varied starter sets means fewer people getting left out because they want to start but not with the current 2 faction focus. And it mean getting some of those pushfit unique models back on the shelf again for everyone.
IT also means GW doesn't have to take some of those duel sprue and re-cut them or redesign the models to put them on their own sprue (or do the horrible remove from game option)
Most other games in the sector have a starter set per-faction. Granted in the past GW's battlebox/battalion/whatever sets were basically that; but there's something good about " starter set" for total newbies

They stopped restocking the old 40k starter sets at Barnes and Noble, which leads credence to the belief that there will be a new introduction set soon.

If the mini-starter rumour is true, I'll be very interested in the pricing. Getting the xenos parts of the starters minus the Space Marines is pretty tempting.

No, I'm sure they'll find a way to make the price insulting. "Heroes of the Chapter" comes to mind.

Well it appears that the 11th edition starter box sold enough that some places got a second order from games Workshop. Just found out about this on The Rogue Trader Gaming web store. Just putting this out here for anyone who didn't have time to get their copy and also to discuss whether any other companies are also doing this. I personally feel like that because they got a second order it must be selling pretty well, but I'm not entirely sure as I haven't done a whole lot of research into the matter. What are ya'lls thoughts or opinions on this? Automatically Appended Next Post: I also saw some people getting the starter sets at FLGS early, as well as some people divving up the boxes and they definitely do have a lot of plastic. I also was given the new lore book for free as one of the workers there that I know didn't want his and said he was honestly a little bit disappointed by what it had. I on the other hand love it ( although then again I love anything that's cool and has in Universe lore) and find it interesting to see in between all the different illustrations battles laid out with real Miniatures. I can also confirm that it is hardback, and indeed is the specified number of pages. It has different sections of varying lengths on most of the main chapters present, as well as all the different ork klans. Something interesting to note is that the illustration for the different types of space Marine coloring for their chapters is very reminiscent of old warhammer painting guides like the 1994 one, where it is a front shot of the Marine holding a bolter. They very much look like the old school monopose marines from 2nd Edition in those illustrations. Automatically Appended Next Post: I haven't read the entirety of it but i believe it is only lore in the book and no narrative campaign (inside of the book itself) i will however mention again that I've only read at least a quarter of it in skimmed through some of the rest, and I haven't had enough time to read the full thing yet.

The only starter that ever sold out within the year was Leviathan - and GW did a reprint of it to solve that. Most others hang around for a good while.
I'm pretty sure stores and GW do a lot of staged release waves of it. In part to counter scalpers; but also to spread out the stock within the gaming community (lots of people will buy multiples). Not to mention a lot of stock will be reserved for physical release only.

Yeah its really just a nice coffee table book with fluff and photos & illustrations, also quite a bunch of smaller chapters featured - not something I expected in a starter set but I kinda like it! (My box already arrived on Wednesday from a German mail order store but didn't do much apart from skimming through the book and assembling the chappy)

I thought Indomitus was the first one there, which caused such a fuss they did a Made to Order shortly afterwards?

Ahh yes sorry I got the name wrong - it was indeed Indomitus with the Necrons; not leviathan that was normal.

Same. My LGS doesn't want to tempt fate by breaking the release date. Chances are regular customers will be able to get theirs today rather than tomorrow, though.

I understand that breaking street dates can have an impact in some industries. Even in our hobby.
But between preview copies sent to reviewers, and GW themselves revealing stuff?
I guess some hypothetical person who was really chomping at the bit might have canc0theirnpre order with GW if they found one for sale early in the wild? And that’s still a sale for GW, just at a slightly worse margin?

Retailers who stick to the release date then lose out to retailers who are openly flouting it; that's the only real issue, I think.

My local FLGS actually did it about 3 to 4 days after a lot of other places who were releasing it early ( stairs at people on eBay ). It's also a small place that only had like five copies so it didn't really matter too much either, it's not like it was some massive place that had 25 to 50 copies. They were mostly just doing it to be nice to some members of the community who've shopped there for years. A lot of places I was at were giving their pre-orders out in store a lot earlier or shipping them way earlier. They also weren't openly flouting it just telling some of the people who pre-ordered it through the store that it was ready for pickup.

True. I tend to think in terms of lonely isolated FLGS. But if you multiples in the same area it’s a bigger deal.
How many people who didn’t pre order going to get one day one? Honestly no clue on that one. That’s the crowd that cares about breaking street dates the most.

It's a running joke.
Anything that could conceivably be tied to a plastic Titan/Thunderhawk serves as proof!.
Though in the Warhounds case? It's been 1100 pts for years, so no pts drop here.
